so many newbies spitting nice words, most of them at their first message.....
after I ask for their username they all disappear like snow in the sun....
can you please PM your username to me so that I can check your position?

Thanks

Giancarlo
Bitfinex Team

Hey Chief (Giancarlo),

You can check my position on my last trade,
I held that trade open for like 19-Hours because
my P/L kept reading like $50+ dollars when I knew
that I was only like one point short from where I entered,
so I did not exit until the P/L appeared someone correct,
but still not right, meanwhile the Swap Interest shot up to like
$23 or $26 dollars on a 15 btc position, even when I exited the
P/L did not appear to be functioning correctly, I would be more
than happy with setting my balance back to whee it was before
the trade, something you might want to look into, and my handle
is my username, no need to pm.
was this a bug in the system ?, a credit would be great.

This was after I had cleared the fees point.

nothing happened to the Swap, apart for the fact that it went up a little bit due to some borrowing.
You basically closed a position where you had a profit of 23 dollars that was offset by a swap of 26 usd, landing you on a loss of 3 usd.
So what's your proposal here?
Shall we reimburse a quarter and call it a deal?

Sorry for being a little sarcastic, maybe I just had a bad day.
Or maybe it's just me.....

Have a good day

Giancarlo
Bitfinex Team

No Chief,

They were both negative,
The P/L and the Swap,
there was no profit.

And YES that was pretty ASSinine of you to make a remark like that,
I'll pull your coat-tail to something which is that is the reputation that
you are developing at TradingView.com, a reputation of being a ASS,

Now having said that I will share a Sales Story told to me by a former
Old Sales Trainer of mine that goes like this, "You can have the best
product or service in the world, but if your customer does not like you
then they are not going to buy anything from you, first and foremost
what you are selling is yourself" !

Not going to get too far being a complete ASS with your customers,
but hey, it's your Bar-B-Que, put whatever type of sauce on it you like.

It was not me that brought up your name at TradingView.com, someone
else actually referred to you as being a "Complete ASS" with your customers,
You're becoming "Infamous", I would serious suggest you hire someone to
handle your "Customer Service" and take a backseat yourself.

Apology, "Not Accepted",
You can't just say shit,
and think that apologizing makes it "O.k." !

Learned that after 8-Years in Prison,
Prison is all about Respect,
and when you falter in your Respect
you usually don't make it out of Prison "Alive" !

But don't get me wrong, had the C.I.S. "College Degrees"
Before going to Prison, was taught the Market by a
Certified Public Accountant in Prison that was doing 13-Years for moving
Money out of the USA.

As I tell everyone, Prison is just like College in the USA,
you can checkout Books from the Library that are
University Master's Level,
http://www.amazon.com/Financial-Markets-Institutions-Stock-Coupon/dp/0538482133
What else does one have to do in Prison with nothing but time on their hands besides read Master's Level TextBooks ?
There are guys in Prison / Millionaires that support their family via trading the market everyday.
Millionaires doing LIFE Sentences that were Pediatric Doctors out here in the world, still supporting their family via trading stocks.
It's just like college, just a "Dangerous College" !

Don't think that you would last too long in Prison with that attitude of yours, just my opinion !

Dude... Calm down... If you hate it here so much... Then leave...

"Now having said that I will share a Sales Story told to me by a former
Old Sales Trainer of mine that goes like this, "You can have the best
product or service in the world, but if your customer does not like you
then they are not going to buy anything from you, first and foremost
what you are selling is yourself" !"

Typical salesman bs... If the product is heads and shoulders above the competition then frankly I don't give a damm what the guy selling me the product is like... (Even though in this particular case they are very friendly and helpful)...

Suggestion:

Write a note to yourself that goes like this:

"I'm here to make money, not Kiss A _ _"

I'm thinking that may come in handy in your case,

As someone said early,

"Grow a Pair"

Place the note in your pocket and read it whenever necessary !
Then "Rinse and Repeat" !
as necessary !

You are aware that the reason "Con Game" is called Con Game, no ?
It's because they build up your CONfidence "First", then take your Money,
You've been SCAMMED ALREADY, don't think that your opinion will carry any weigh in this thread.
Appears that you "Liked Them Too Much Also", you might take heed to what it is that I said:

If your customer does not like you
then they are not going to buy anything from you

Stop "Liking People Too Much"
Just as in trading, "Take Emotions Out of The Equation" and conduct pure "Business",
If it sounds too good to be true, then normally it is,
Don't have the "Liking Too Much" Disease !
Believe Nothing You Hear, and only Half of What You See !

But I do understand why you have a "Hatred" for SalesPeople now after being CONNED like that, oh well, better luck next time.

Thanks for the updates in this thread Giancarlo.

I still have a withdrawal pending for 12 hours (sent you PM with username, just in case it fell through the crack), I sent a support email, we'll see when it goes through.

EDIT : I had to convert LTC into BTC at a cheaper rate I could get at BTC-e, but the BTC withdrawal worked.  Just losing a few LTCs on the change...

I too am going on a 12 hour pending withdrawal.

Sorry,

I'm well aware how con games work, and yes I pre-ordered with Alpha-t because I believed the risk/reward was worth it... (Incidently, I was able to get a refund on two of my machines from the company directly without incident, keeping the third)

Either way its a non issue here... Your simply an a$$hole and I'm not gonna waste anymore time with you...

Bitfinex is my favorite exchange for a number of reasons, but yes still does have some major issues sometimes.  I miss the 4:1 leverage and I've had some terrible fills on market orders, so I recommend you only use limit orders.

But I love it overall and the only one that I really actively trade on nowadays.

UPDATE

Just to clear up things, it's better to repeat what has already been stated earlier today:

1) No coins were stolen.
2) No money was moved.
3) Our servers are safe.
4) Nobody broke into our system.
5) We use cold wallets and only a very tiny portion of our total is kept in the hot wallet.
6) The malicious trader was only able to by some coins on margin but his positions were then reversed
7) All the trades that took place before 3 a.m. GMT today were neither effected nor reversed.

We resumed trading 3 hours ago and now all is working fine, the glitch has been corrected and apart for some people that tried to take advantage of the abnormal situation the very vast majority of our customers behaved brilliantly.

Let me once more reiterate that I believe Bitfinex is a community and its people should behave accordingly and not try to take advantage on each others when things are clearly showing dysfunctional numbers.
Few people understand that if they are able to buy a coin for half price is the other part of the trade and not Bitfinex that loses something.

We will always protect customers getting exploited in their leveraged positions by market manipulators.

We surely had better days, but we emerge from this difficult event with the consciousness of having made the right thing.

Have a good day you all and thanks a lot for your support

I'm just lending out USD at the moment.
There was no change whatsoever in my outstanding swaps during this whole drama.
no liquidations, nothing unusual in my interest payments, no closed swap contracts.
nothing to unwind.
everything totally normal.

just reporting from my corner of the exchange.

Short message

Please respond to my PM
Please give my money back

And Ps remark to murphy's law
"if there's more than one way to do a job and one of those ways will end in disaster, then somebody will do it that way"

If you know there can be a problem why don't you have a double system, not a single man system.
Don't come with an answer he was on the plane....

Probably to a country with a non extradition treaty

The amount of open swaps has fallen from 21M to 17.3M after the issue probably also because of the falling prices.

Is this something that should warn about the relyability of the service ?

This is perfectly normal and nothing to bite nails about. You may also find this site interesting: http://charts-bfxdata.rhcloud.com/
I know the site and is very useful, thanks!

I'm a lender and I'm just a little worried about the fact that, despite the huge volatility, the rates are still going down  Angry

Most likely noobs who see the chance of lending out at 0.2% and thinking they still make a good deal instead of waiting a bit and lending out at higher rates.

Just a tip for newbies: If you have no idea what to do, just autolend at FRR for 10 days and come back every week or so. Interest you earn gets reinvested automatically, after some time you might want to actively lend out maybe and you have to wait max. 10 days for that, also FRR loans are nearly always taken and while they are far from the best deals, they aren't the worst ones either (people seem eager to lend out thousands of USD at 0.15% at once for weeks?!).

https://www.coinlend.org <-- automated lending at various exchanges.
https://www.bitfinex.com <-- Trade BTC for other currencies and vice versa.

Yes i also don't understand during this period of high volatility and declining prices, lenders are still offering < 0.3% ignoring Higher Risks involved.

How Ripple Rips you: "The founders of Ripple Labs created 100 billion XRP at Ripple's inception. No more can be created according to the rules of the Ripple protocol. Of the 100 billion created, 20 billion XRP were retained by the creators, seeders, venture capital companies and other founders. The remaining 80 billion were given to Ripple Labs. Ripple Labs intends to distribute and sell 55 of that 80 billion XRP to users and strategic partners. Ripple Labs also had a giveaway of under 200 million XRP (0.002% of all XRP) via World Community Grid that was later discontinued.[29] Ripple Labs will retain the remaining 25 billion"

Hi R & G!

i think its way too long.. let me tell u my story

I MADE A NORMAL WIRED WITHDRAWAL OF 5000USD ON GMT+8 FEB 3 8:43AM AND IT WAS IMMEDIATELY APPROVED, THE STATUS CHANGE TO PROCESSING (NOT YET PROCESSED) AND AFTER 1 DAY AT SAME TIME GMT +8 FEB 4 8:43AM THE STATUS STILL PPROCESS BUT THIS TIME ROUND THE NOT YET PROCESSED IS NOT THERE.. TODAY IS ALREADY GTM +8 FEB 7 7:50PM ITS BEEN MORE THEN 3 BUSINESS WORKING DAYS AND I BELIEVE THE BANK IN SHANGHAI IS THE SAME TIME AS MY COUNTRY WHICH IS GMT+8.

THE WEBSITE STATED :
Wire withdrawals will be processed within 3 business days, unless you request the option "Express". In this case, they will be processed within 1 business day, for 1% of the amount request.

IT'S STATED CLEARLY WITHIN 3 BUSINESS DAYS SO I DO NOT KNOW WHY MY WITHDRAWALS NEED TO WAIT VERY LONG, BEFORE THIS NEW EXPRESS WIRED WITHDRAWAL FEATURE WAS IMPLEMENTED IT ONLY TAKES 46 HOURS TO REACH MY FRIEND'S BANK WHICH I LIVE THE SAME COUNTRY AND HAVE THE SAME BANK AS HIM AND THAT TIME ONLY COST 10 USD.

WHY SO SLOW? BECAUSE I CHOOSE NORMAL ? REALLY HOPE U GUYS CAN DO IT FAST.. its been 5 WORKING BUSINESS DAYS

now i lost 5 days of interest of 5k usd which cost 50-70usd.. and my time!

pm me for my username in bitfinex I WANT TO KNOW WHATS THE PROBLEM

Things are getting better, just taken an small  offer at 0.27. Waiting the rates to reach 0.334 (0.3 net), hoping to lend at an average of 0.35.
