lol agreed pre orders are always a horrible idea...SP-Tech should not have run there mouth so much on specs!  I really doubt the large wave of new hash power is just AM...I am sure they are some of it, but not that much.  I really do not see how AM can "crush" the competition due to the specs of their chips being kinda crappy for a new design.  I think AM is a decent company and all, but really doubt they can take the market back with competitors making better products. Time will tell though...and if you bought AM on IPO then you would be crazy to not HODL them, but anyone who bought @ over 2BTC = bad investment.

Which competitor makes a better product (that is non-fictious)?

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Tons do if you look at power efficiency..the thing that matters most.
Bitmain
SP-Tech
KnC
*Bitfury when it releases the new chips - Yes I know they are not public yet..
I would have to check stats again, but the BE200 chip is not very good efficiency wise...they couldn't even sell them.

Imho $/Gh is the most important factor, and small differences in power efficiency are neglectable.

But fine if you have a different viewpoint...

Fair enough...I think AM is honest and has good intentions, but they need to keep you investors more informed...there is no reason to not have some updates on their status.  The $ per GH is important, but also efficiency determines how long it can mine for and make profits.  Anyways I hope all you guys get some sick divs and can point to me and say LOL you were wrong  Grin

Another dump of 60 shares on Havelock.
I don't get it...

Now I do get it. Anybody else sees this dilettanteishly obvious manipulation?  Grin

I mean, either that or they bought them all at the BTC0.16 level.  Because profit.

That shares are dumped is no indication for a manipulation alone. But that e.g. just minutes after the last buy a lower ask is placed than the last price - that makes me at least suspicious...  Wink

I am convinced that somebody is trying to push and keep the price low to buy cheap shares himself (quite successfully actually). But everybody decide for himself...

I don't think that it works that way. In order to keep the price low, you'd constantly have to dump shares. And by doing that you actually lose shares, and don't pile up on them!

It works exactly that way. Not always successfully, of course. But today it worked. And it worked many times before.

Dump, pull your bids, people will follow, then collect at the bottom. Not too difficult in this thin Havelock market.

Has there been any information regarding new Asicminer datacenter(s) and/or power capacity?

I think that would be the critical bottleneck at the moment, since we know they have many tens of PH worth of chips, and we know their approximate efficiency and the approximate capacity of their old farms. I think they could only bring online ~2PH worth if they haven't acquired more locations/capacity since last gen.

I'd love to believe AM is behind the recent big rises in network hash rate, but that would require significant developments on this front as well...

Obviously my information is dated, please correct any facts I've messed up.

Exactly. Also I forgot the putting up of fake asks. Those (when eaten or nibbled on) are the manipulator's actual real "loss".

Well, as far as i know there is only this:

Update

1. Due to the relatively lower interest from individual miners as well as OEM producers, the self mining has re-started from middle of July. We had gain access of cheap electricity and high power capacity. We hope to regain the average hashrate percentage similar to 2013 with this generation of chips.

To dear shareholders:

We indeed had a hard time starting from the end of 2013. The BE200 performance was inferior than expected, and our prediction for the capacity of OEM producers and the individual mining market was a big miss. However, we had not stopped our work on designing our own products and finding proper farms after our chips passed the tests. Meantime we had tried many cooperations with OEMs (premium+balance payment, chip franchising) but the overall improvement on volume was not significant. Now the new hardware solution matures and we got the resources on deploying, we can turn the newly produced chips to the market where the highest margin is.

It'd be sweet if FC has a few of those containers bubbling with BE300's, and a roadmap for Gen4 in play.

If FC is mining since middle of July when do you estimate that he will share the hashrate?
