I'm always amazed by the lack of discussion of discus fish on here.

OrganofCorti clearly developed evidence connecting them to ASICMiner back in the late spring of 2013.  Now they have >10% of network hashrate.

Ever wonder where your dividends went?

EDIT:  To be 100% clear, I think Friedcat chose to reinvest his earnings in his own mining operation independent of ASICMiner.  No direct fraud just a huge conflict of interest, and lots of shareholders wondering why their hashrate never grows.

even if that is the case there is nothing to be done about that though is there...

so it's primarily an ethical question not a legal one... and perhaps a question of how comfortable do you feel owning AM shares if you think the connection between AM and discus exists.

as with anything in bitcoinland, don't forget it's high risk and there are no guarentees...

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't discus fish a pool anyone can join? I doubt FC spent his personal funds on more gen1 hardware.

I think its more likely a group of people with antminers

I think AM has lost a lot of image because of missing PR person. Yesterday lowest was 0.53/Share , we will see even lower prices in the future

The share price isn't going to drop in a day because of the "missing PR person". Just market fluctuations. We had the news from FC last week. I really don't expect any more until chips are ready, or near ready.

I'm almost convinced a PR person will make prices go wonky  Cool

Why would the hashrate grow with their old technology? Hashrate will grow when Gen3 launches March / April. But it will be about massive dividend increase, not just hashrate, because AM will sell alot of chips to others, not just farm themselves.

It's fine for friedcat to sell miners to discus fish, anyone else, or even himself, as long as the price was not under large discount. If that 10% of network hashrate was bought with normal price, the profit of sales was already in your pocket as the dividend.

Therefore, even if that pool was owned by Friedcat does not mean anything unless you prove those miners were stolen (or bought in a ridiculous low price) from AM.

what would be a plausible distribution between mining and sales revenues? proper 50/50?

Its a safe bet mining will happen. You really think FC is going to leave gen1 chips running in the datacenters while gen3 is being sold?

I'm quoting friedcat directly, and if the speculation that AM members are involved in mining operations elsewhere is perhaps true, then there is extra motivation NOT to mine with gen3 under the AM banner.

I don't have a strong assumption either way, what happens will happen, I'm just wonder why people generally ignore the comment that friedcat himself made and believe that we will definitely continue mining when he stated that there is a chance we may not.

Moving towards more pure chip distribution does not mean they will not be mining and selling complete asics.

To quote FC directly

Quote
Full devices from ASICMiner are definitely going to exist on the form of samples and small batches. ASICMiner may also build new mining farms based on new chips. Unsliced wafers may also be available for sale. But the main business direction is to provide packaged chips.

So I am assuming the existing mining farms will be converted to gen3 (should be easy considering the liquid cooled racks were designed to be upgradable) and AM may or may not build new farms on top of that.

ok, thanks for clarification. I can see how I may have misread "pure chip distribution" to mean something different that it more likely does

FC just said "moving more" to chip distribution. That's because with Gen1 it was an afterthought and they ended up selling those strange blades and cubes "ad hoc". With Gen3, the plan is mine whatever they can manage themselves, and shift just as many chips as they can manage to other *large* mining operations.

For those who haven't seen this yet:
There has been a board meeting and friedcat answered questions we collected and submitted to him. Also a big thank you to Jutarul, who helped us getting them through and inform us about the other topics discussed during the meeting.

Maybe just some Cube-sales that will be used to fill up the next 2, 3, 4 weeks. But an interesting find!
