Assembler kernel doesn't work, the driver just crashes or the machine restarts. Few RX rigs with different driver versions, it is just unreliable even on stock clocks. Non-asm kernel is fine but the hashrate is quite low.

I'm wondering if this is my issue.

Two separate machines, windows 10 1709. CMD remains open and reports healthy hashrate of previous but GPU load will randomly go to 0 as if something crashed and stay there. Pool reports no hashrate. No indication from software and no attempted restarts.

I've removed the --asm and the hashrate is now 60-70% of before. But within 30 seconds one of my GPUs randomly stopped mining and the hashrate indicator still says it is. Op. Now the other one has stopped, within 60 seconds of starting both.

Dammit. And I was all excited to let this run overnight after getting everything working.

Can anyone recommend another fork? I tried sgminer but the hashrate was under 10MH/s even after optimizing the intensity.

Edit: seems ok after installing every version of C distributable from 2005-2013 (2015 was already installed). 10 minutes testing so far. Will report back tomorrow maybe. Note that the previous issues had zero messages, popups or apparent crashes.

Further edit: one machine died overnight but that's because it was a fresh install - windows 10 default power settings standby after 30 minutes. The other machine was fine. So this seems to have solved my issue. Thanks for the optimized miner, OP.

Further, further edit: Added another machine and it had the same issue. Installing all the C++ distributable didn't help - quit after an hour. Only real difference is I had to install an older version of 10 (1607) due to circumstances. We'll see if upgrading to 1709 helps.

That all said, clearly some kind of failure-detection and recovery would be very much appreciated Smiley

Proably not, my 4gb RX580 did that much before --asm started crashing it

To:
drogasi and others

 We can help, but you have to provide some standard details that outline the systems os, mb, mem, hdd, cards, driver, and riser config in terms of power, where each riser has it own power not shared with any other device, ssd included.

Ensure you do these things.

1) Uninstall everything mining related whether DDU drivers, MSI Afterburner, etc.
    (A clean mining only slate. Don't be concerned with other apps)
 1a) Ensure that the motherboard has it's chipset drivers installed
2) Ensure you start with one card if your are having problems, otherwise
 when you re-install the "Mining" software reboot whenever requested.

I know that may seem like a lot, but I've been testing a few different mb, mem, pws and other hardware finding much of it fails if there not the right memory allocation and addressing in bios of both the mb and video card.  Sometimes the os will not assign a different address and the device is stuck to that address no matter which slot, other times the os will give a different address for some reason I haven't pin down yet.

I also mine on a lean Windows 10 os, much has been remove and it been take down to a working minimalist mining os.

I prefer to mine in Ubuntu but, there still is no linux mkxminer, Hmmm, hint, hint.

Win 10, latest updates. H110-D3A, USB drive, 8GB RAM, 6x Sapphire Pulse RX570 4GB, latest chipset and video driver, cleaned using DDU, iGPU is on, 6-pin riser. Clean mining only OS, works well on all other miners. Another mixed NVIDIA-AMD rig also crashes on start. Solo AMD rig, similar setup but without iGPU, runs fine but crashes within minutes.

Hello!

Better late than never...

BAMT (R9 280X):
https://i.imgur.com/A92LKi2.jpg

Ubuntu 16.04 x64 with AMD GPUPRO drivers (R9 390):
https://i.imgur.com/4DV7t43.png

Linux BETA 3.0.1 is out. Only works with suprnova SSL pools currently. Non-SSL pool support will be added later.

Links in OP.

To get it running on Ubuntu 16.04 x64, you would need to install some packages. Do this:
Code:
sudo apt-get install libssh2-1-dev:i386 libldap-2.4:i386
wget http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/o/openssl098/libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-7ubuntu3.2.14.04.1_i386.deb
sudo dpkg -i libssl0.9.8_0.9.8o-7ubuntu3.2.14.04.1_i386.deb

PS: If you need some info from me, please send direct message. I don't have enough time to read all posts on this forum.

Thanks!

Shieldcoin [XSH] - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2234453.0
RACE [RACE] - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2848766.0

=== List of recommended pools
stratum+tls://stak.suprnova.cc:7710 (go here to register: https://stak.suprnova.cc/)
stratum+tls://mona.suprnova.cc:3001 (go here to register: https://mona.suprnova.cc/)
stratum+tls://vtc.suprnova.cc:5676 (go here to register: https://vtc.suprnova.cc/)

=== Usage
Try running example.cmd (change -u option value to your login and -p option to your password).
If it works ok, then try running best.cmd (it uses assembler kernels).
If it is working, then you may want to tweak some settings, see Options section below.

If you are getting errors about unsupported videocard or if you have an Intel CPU and AMD GPUs, try running example2platforms.cmd.

You can also check out bestfarm.cmd for a useful script, which will name your miners according to their local IP address.

Press Ctrl+C to exit the app.

=== Options
-o or --url - URL of the stratum server (ex: stratum+tls://stak.suprnova.cc:7710)
    You can currently only specify one pool, no backups supported.
-u or --user - Username for stratum server
-p or --pass -  Password for stratum server
-d or --device - Select device to use, one value, range and/or comma separated (e.g. 0-2,4) default: all
-I or --intensity - Intensity of GPU scanning (23 for high end cards, 20 for low end)
--exitsick - Exit miner if one of GPUs becomes sick (so that you can create a script to restart app / reboot PC)
--asm - Will enable ASM kernels for supported GPUs (Fiji, Ellesmere, Tonga, Hawaii, Tahiti, Oland currently)
    for about 10% extra speed. Note: this may crash your miner, especially on some Ellesmere cards.
    Recommended 16.10.3 driver or latest AMD / beta blockchain driver.

--platform - Select OpenCL platform ID to use for GPU mining
--engine - GPU engine (over)clock range in Mhz - one value, range and/or comma separated list (e.g. 850-900,900,750-850)
--fan - GPU fan percentage range - one value, range and/or comma separated list (e.g. 0-85,85,65)
--map - Map OpenCL to ADL device order manually, paired CSV (e.g. 1:0,2:1 maps OpenCL 1 to ADL 0, 2 to 1)
--memclock - Set the GPU memory (over)clock in Mhz - one value for all or separate by commas for per card
--powertune - Set the GPU powertune percentage - one value for all or separate by commas for per card
--reorder - Attempt to reorder GPU devices according to PCI Bus ID
--vddc - Set the GPU voltage in Volts - one value for all or separate by commas for per card

--auto-fan - Automatically adjust all GPU fan speeds to maintain a target temperature
--auto-gpu - Automatically adjust all GPU engine clock speeds to maintain a target temperature
--temp-cutoff - Temperature which a device will be automatically disabled at, one value or comma separated list
--temp-overheat - Temperature which a device will be throttled at while automanaging fan and/or GPU, one value or comma separated list
--temp-target - Temperature which a device should stay at while automanaging fan and/or GPU, one value or comma separated list

=== Speeds (no overclocking)
Radeon Pro Duo: 84.8MHs (42.4 + 42.4)
FuryX: 55MHs
Vega56: 47MHs (can be optimised further, just need some time and incentive)
RX 580: 39MHs
RX 480: 36MHs
R9 390: 32MHs
R9 380X: 26MHs
R9 280X: 26MHs

* Note: the actual mining speed is a bit higher as some of the hashrate is used as devfee. The above values are what you (the miner) gets.
Other miners with devfee show you the total hashrate and then you have to reduce it by devfee: for example,
if you have 30MHs with 5% devfee, then effectively it is 28.5MHs for you (30 * (1.0 - 0.05)).
This miner shows you exactly the MHs that you earn, so devfee value is irrelevant.

You do not have to use this miner. For a free open-source option, please use https://miner.nicehash.com/ or https://github.com/sgminer-dev/sgminer.

=== Tweaking
There are pretty much only three things to tweak:
1) Use assembler kernels (add "--asm" parameter to command line).
2) Increase GPU frequency. Memory frequency is not important.
3) Increase intensity. 23 is recommended for 4GB+ videocards.

=== Version history
v1.0.0: 11 November 2017 - Initial nicehash version.
v1.0.1: 12 November 2017 - Added missing DLL and fixed gfx901 problem.
v2.0.0: 5 December 2017 - Rewritten + tls pools supported.
v2.0.1: 12 December 2017 - Added VTC pool, AMD platform autodetection.
v3.0.0: 23 December 2017 - stratum+tcp pools are now supported.
v3.0.1: 9 January 2018 - Fixed problem with pools not supporting extranonce, 'q' to exit, Linux port, cleaned up dlls.

Hi winmkx,
The mkxminer looks very stable. My XFX RX-480 is giving me “31.3MH/s | Temp(C): 72 | Fan: 79% | HW: 1 | Rej: 0.0%” continuously with original Bios setting.
But, I am dying to see 36 MH/s. Could you please help me in getting this figure with downvolting as well. My more concerned about the power consumption. Can I achieve less than 80 Watt consumption with a modded bios. I have a small rig of 5 GPUs, 4X480 and 1X470.
I will buy a beer for your help…  Wink
Thanks

no it's not for the pool.
the error has nothing to do with the pool too, is about not recognizing the RX 580 as AMD card
