It would be nice to get my donation back then... id 23003... I sent it directly from my balance.

Can you check the id number please?  23003 has never deposited or sent anything.  Or if you can tell me the amount of the donation I'll be able to find it that way.

It was noble of dooglus to try and pay that out of pocket, but in the end he realized that a 1300BTC / ~$120K loss is a lot to stomach and retracted the offer.

I know it's hard to believe, but that wasn't my motivation.  After reading the comments from many people in the investment thread, and thinking about it for myself, I realised that there was no loss to "take".  Some fake coins moved from one account into other accounts.  I just moved them back.  No BTC was withdrawn from the site, so there is no loss, and no need for anyone to be out of pocket.

Uh, dooglus, do you want to explain what you have done? I'm confused.

About 36 hours ago I accidentally left a database entry of 1300 BTC in a user's account after cashing out his balance.  The database showed he had a balance of 1300 when he really had a balance of 0.

He (or someone using his account) bet and lost those fake 1300 BTC, making investors think they had profited by 1300 BTC, but there were no coins on site backing those 1300 BTC.

I rolled back those fake bets, so the investors are back where they were before those particular fake bets were made.

To complicate matters, I took the rolled-back amounts out of player balances where possible, not out of player investments.  So people think "OMG he stole my 5 BTC balance".  But what happened in that case is your balance is 5 BTC lower than it was, but your investment is 5 BTC higher than it was, so it balances out.  It was stupid of me to take it from balance, not from invested, but I don't see how to fix that now that some people will have already re-adjusted their holdings accordingly.

I agree; with any other casino or business, a 'roll back' is exactly what would have happened. Didn't mean to insinuate anything negative about you; the community was legitimately worried about the 'loss' and I'm glad that it's worked out well for everyone involved and no one's made a big fuss about it.

I think that many users here that aren't very knowledgeable when it comes to development don't understand that all you're doing when you send BTC to his provided address(es) all that happens is your balance is updated in a database.  If the database weren't backed up or a server crash happened and he didn't have the balances of users, you'd all lose your balance.

All your balance is is a # in a database that can be changed at almost any given time.

Essentially.  Except I'm pretty sure banks that are worth billions and handle much more money are more trusted to have a secure site and I'd assume HUNDREDS of backups.  Not to mention FDIC in the US.

Also a site that isn't susceptible to DDoS (unlike just-dice and primedice). :O

Losing a week wage in 5 minutes, arrghh Grin Celeste is a maniac... Anyway, the feature allowing investors to choose what part of their investment will people bet against would be very appreciated. I have done some simulations and the current setup means that if the site has bad luck and there are whales this crazy, we can all be down for months with a pretty decent probability. I mean, I don't mind, but I am sure there are more risk averse investors out there...
