Yep, this was done by Nachtwind on the forums, virtualminer.eu.  It didn't get enough interest to stay alive.  It was pretty neat, and I've considered making something like it even before he did, but I think your target audience is far too small to be worth the time making it.

Either way, it doesn't seem I can manage investment levels by playing with the commission rate, unless I play a lot harder than I have so far.

Hey guys.
A few minutes ago I decided to share my scripts for the site in the chat and thought it might be a good idea to also post them here, especially because I can add a few words of explanation here without it turning into spam.

Just for reference, my nick on just-dice is gray, with ID 1163

First, my bot script with GUI, which is kind of a plugin to the site.
Status: Beta should define it well. It works, but not all of the planned functionality is implemented.

Functionality:
- It is supposed to be used with Greasemonkey. It should work whatever other way, tho.
- Set any combination of bet size, payout and bet multiplier.
- Includes an interval to increase the bet every X losses.
- Keeps track of how many bets were placed, won, lost (visualisation is planned.)
- Keeps track of the longest streak (does not get reset when changing your strategy.)
- Shows the profit (balance change since page load? hurr.)
- Rollmodes are LO, HI, RANDOM (gets bits from random.org) and SWITCH (switch between HI/LO on every loss)
- Chaosmode (not implemented) - martingale at "random" chances, automatically calculating the bet for the same risk
  (please tell me if you're interested in that. I don't really plan to finish this.)

After a little testing this came up:
Malwarebytes doesn't like the script. Propably because of the crosslinking to d3js.org where I tried including D3. I edited that line out as of.. now. It's not being used right now anyways. Fixed.

Don't forget to deactivate older versions of my bot. (the one you had to use via console)


Next up: A script to add (persistant) muting/ignoring of people in the chat.

Functionality:
- You can ignore people.
- Should you feel bored, you can also unignore them.
- People stay ignored after reloading the page.

It appears to just have broken for me in the last day the last time FireFox updated. Is anyone else having issues? Delay no longer works and it seems to be lagging now and I am unable to change it. I have tried on multiple computers as well.

I've got a new "strategy" for you, that's similar to martingale but that's gonna last you much longer.

Similar because each win makes up for all the previous losses.
Here's how it goes.

You always bet the same amount, but you change the multiplier.
Say you bet 1btc on 2x.
If you lose, bet 1btc on 3x.
if lose, 1btc of 4x, and so on.
If win, you go back to 2x.
(The amount you bet never changes.)
Each time you win, you balance is 1 btc up from your previous win.

here are a few examples:

Don't mind non-integer multipliers, that's how JD rounds up.

The probability of having n losses in a row would be  1/(n+1)  for 0 house edge,
and is very close for the 1% one. This should help you set your initial bet.

Anyway, if your capital is C, for a martingale you need log C losses in a row to go broke,
whereas for this "strategy" you need C losses in a row to go broke.

So you can have fun much longer. And betting 1 btc  on 40x is no less thrilling than betting 40 btc on 2x

As for the non-integer, all bets are stored as the percentage chance to win, which is 99/multiplier.

It's no possible to express 99/7 as an exact decimal, so it's not possible to have an exact 7x bet.

It's important to note that account number and associated email address are not enough to login. I had forgotten that I even had a username, actually.

Oh, good.  Usernames are case sensitive.  The email address isn't used for anything other than for contacting you in case of emergency.

So that's a total of 16 BTC paid out in 2 months.

In the same period I've collected 192 BTC in commission.  Minus the 16 BTC expenses, that's 176 BTC.  That's 22 BTC per week or a little over 3 BTC per day.  I put about 16 hours per day into the site on average, and Deb, about 14.  30 hours per day between the two of us.


As the site continues to profit I plan to enjoy my fair share of those profits.  A 90/10 split seems generous to me.

Before I start I just want to clarify that I'm a big fan of the site, have no intention to divest (or even threaten to), and I agree that this is a free market (perhaps the freest?), so if people don't like it, they can simply divest and/or make their own gambling site.

However, I'd like to address a couple things:

1) In the course of defending the 10% commission, you stated your profit has been 176 BTC. However, that is the total over the two months, which includes periods of 1% commission and 5% commission on much smaller investment and volume (and an epic run of bad luck--for the house--due to a whale). Thus, you are implying that your current "commission wage" is about 22BTC per week, but it is in fact much higher than this. In the interest of transparency (where you have really gone above an beyond since you started, which is why I've entrusted my few BTC with you), I would humbly suggest you provide the commission figures for the time period since the 10% commission was implemented when discussing the 10% commission. (Or, since that is a very short amount of time, you could calculate what your income would have been had the commission been 10% all along, and then turn that into a weekly rate, although this doesn't account for the increasing amount wagered.)

2) While it is true that people can simply divest, "take it or leave it", there is something to be said to whether this is in your best interest (let alone investors). I think the fact that people can invest, that investment keeps skyrocketing, and that the max bet is getting huge are part of what makes just-dice so exciting, so unique. I don't know if discouraging that is a trivial decision. A soaring investment amount and max bet is a sure way to get picked up in the Bitcoin and mainstream press. When investment hits 100k BTC and/or max profit is over $100,000 that will definitely turn some heads.

3) Finally, regarding your graph that shows no impact on investment when commission was increased: keep in mind that not all policies have immediate impacts. Sure if you increase the commission very suddenly some people might divest in "protest", but the real effects are longer term. I think you won't see an effect now because ROE is so high. However, ROE (let's ignore variance for a sec) depends on amount wagered, and I don't know if there's strong evidence that amount wagered is correlated with investment (in the chat one day I asked you for amount wagered and investment for each day for this purpose). Therefore, as investment increases to 100k btc and beyond, without any change in the mechanics of the site, perhaps amount wagered won't grow as fast and suddenly ROE will drop. Then perhaps people will start to feel the difference between 5% commission and 10, 15, 20%. Perhaps then will be the time to drop commissions, but who knows if you can time it right. My point is that there (likely) is an effect on investment (long term), it just might not be obvious at first.

Having said all that, fuck it, do as you please. I love this site.

I tried this for myself.  The first time I won on 3x, then on 46x, and then on 38x.

On the 3rd trial I started out betting 0.0102 on 2x, then 0.0103 on 3x, etc. up to 0.0138 on 38x.  That ended up winning 0.08 BTC, whereas the first 2 trials only won 0.01 BTC.  On the profit/loss chart you can see the last downwards sloping line is ever so slightly curved downwards:
