If we have another case of abuse we will need to lock it down.

Ah well that was solved easily...
I already wondered when this feature would have been added. Now it's also clear why the English in that "hint" was so weird.

On another note: Has anyone tried Rosetta@home on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS yet? I installed it on one machine of mine just to check it out, but weirdly the jobs constantly crash right at the start. As soon as the project is added it downloads the tasks, starts computing and immediately stops with "computation error", then deletes them, downloads new tasks, crashes them and so on...

I could duplicate this behavior on another machine (rented) which works perfectly with Ubuntu 16.04.  Huh

Rob:

I'm curious why the pool mining is using headers instead of standard form submissions.   This adds to and/or causes problems as headers are not meant for the volume of data being generated.

Could you explain why you chose to go with headers over something more standard (ie stratum protocol)

Headers are just a marker for a cardoned off byte area.  If you feel you can create a better system, I suggest starting your own crypto.

There you can receive all of the complaints in a centralized environment, and do all the work also.  It might be a win-win.

I'm working on a side project to attempt to inform some of my lukewarm family members that a risk exists in being lukewarm (if I can even convince them that the lukewarm state exists) vs being Zealous for Jesus.

Please, I think everyone should read this and examine their own heart:
https://wiki.biblepay.org/Become_Zealous_for_Christ

If you have any suggestions on making it better, please let me know.

Also feel free to use it to spread the gospel.  If your family or friends are like mine, some go to church but dont "know" Christ, and some think Church is just an activity.  It might even be useful to transition a non believer to a believer!  Togo?  You might be our in-house guinea pig for that one Smiley.

Sorry that was me. I didn't realize sending a message broadcasts it to the entire community. If I knew Or had the wisdom to check the feature, I wouldn't have sent the message. I sincerely apologise and hope you all will forgive me.

If I check prayer request, is that what broadcasts to entire group? If I send just message without prayer request Only the address wallet holder receives only plus the block chain has a copy? For next time, maybe a prompt explaining the consequences of what message or prayer does is appreciaTed.

@dave_bbp:
The message was intended for bbp:

Believe me, I struggle with the love of money too.
I hadn't considered that's how my message would be interpreted.
Sad but I can see that now...

sorry i was assuming you had a specific reason. .no need to be harsh it was not a judgement. ..

are people actually allowed to discuss here, or are thoughts that you do not agree with prohibited?

It seems strange to me that headers be used in this manner (by anyone not just you)

There are security concerns with headers over the standard server limits. (it seems 8k is the max default value)
https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/110565/large-over-sizesd-http-header-lengths-and-security-implications

Again, I may have contrary views to you but my goal here is to better the project.  How can we make it more robust, stronger etc.  If you surround yourself with yes-men then there will be no real growth, this goes for spiritual life as well as any other area.

edit: hope your move goes well and isn't too stressful.

Rob seems to be in a snappy mood. He just moved (residence?) so must be very stressful while trying to manage biblepay. I'm sure his comments weren't personal just maybe short fused with all the recent changes he faces. I know I'm crabby before during and after a move.

Are you a programmer? The biblepay pool is very unorthodox in terms of interface. So if it was open source could you improve the design possibly? Or the back end stuff if rob wants help.

I really appreciate your passion here and the way that you are making an effort to bring your family members closer to Jesus. That being said, this might not be the right forum for you and I to debate our own interpretations of the what Scripture says on the permanence of salvation! (Of course I'm always happy to have a debate with a brother on the Word, there's no loser in that, as long as it is done with respect and love, but maybe we should do so in a different forum). I agree with much of what you say regarding the dangers of being lukewarm, and I do think that it's clear that the Father hates those who treat the gift of salvation as an insurance policy....but I doubt very much that this small group of people here are going to resolve the "once saved, always saved?" debate.

Also, I was a little confused by the peppering in of statements regarding the prosperity gospel; I also think it is dangerous and often disingenuous, but it didn't seem to flow together with the rest of the topics, which seemed to be more about individual behavior than about expectations of reward. My guess is that this is a particularly relevant topic to the people you are trying to reach, though, so maybe it makes more sense in that context.

The "signs of becoming zealous" section was a nice way to make more relevant fruits of the Spirit - I think it could be developed even further.

Personal opinions aside, let me ask you simply this - how can we help? Your goal is a noble one, and surely one that the community can and should rally around. I will certainly lift your family up in prayer, but if there is something more specific that you need or want, I'm happy to help as best I can.

Just to clarify, I don't believe jaapgvk sold his personal Sanctuary coins and left. I believe he was selling coins that he got in the last monthly superblock budget to save up for exchange listing fees.

Hope that clarifies any insecurity people have about that.

I bought a 100 euro worth of BBP from Jaap for his fund - not a lot but all helps.....
Maybe a few more miners could step up and help - give something back!!

I have a .dat wallet with some coins in it that I used with very old wallet version. I tried it with new wallets and it results in a crash. Can someone please advice how to resolve this issue? Try to export priv keys using the old version wallet? I ask because maybe there are ppl who solved such issues succesfully and that can share a solution.

Sounds to me like a network/firewall issue rather than an issue of the wallet. I have several wallets (Win 7, Win 10, Ubuntu etc.) running and I regularly close and restart them and never had any problem with not finding peers.
The only time I experienced this exact same problem was when I had my laptop in a university network. There the wallet couldn't establish any peer connection.

P.S.: I don't have any "addnode=" lines whatsoever in my configs...

Thanks for answer dave. I was thinking about some firewall issue. I switched the firewall off completely but with the same result. I dont expect that VPS service provider blocked some network ports or something like that during maintenance.

Are there any hints in the debug.log file? Did you try opening the wallet in Linux?

I would also try compiling an old wallet version from GitHub, try to open the wallet again and if it works, make a new wallet.dat backup from it and then try the newly created wallet.dat file in the latest wallet.
