I think we are at an all time low for the network hash rate. My two buddies are probably going to pull their 3 Mh/s tonight if we don't hear something from Kimoto.

I will say this for the last time.  The network hash rate (what is shown on the pools and coinchoose) is from about 2-3 days ago.  It is actually around 40mh/s currently not 10mh/s like you see.  This is caused by the smoothing algorithm in the difficulty adjustment design, which was also partly responsible for the slow dropping of the difficulty.

All I know is there is only 1 guy left in the pool I was using, and he will be gone soon if we don't get some news. Very sad...

To not have a developer who is frequently around and available is frustrating.
I don't blame people for leaving. I'm going to stick it out for a little longer, but I may have to dump my MEC and move on.

It sure seems that there is too much at stake here for Kimoto to not say something. I think all of us would be willing to give him more time, but he should at least let us know what's going on.

Earliest I have seen him on is 5AM  system time, so in about an hour he should start showing up or maybe a bit later.

Things are getting a bit dire and need to be addressed or there is going to be zero miners, and no coin.

The next release was focused on decentralizing by integrating p2p pools/mining directly into the client.
It would have prevented this and it would be a design benefit to all coins.
That feature has been pushed back for the patch to make sure this doesn't happen again.
If you choose to mine right now, a good choice is solo or on a smaller pool.
Many coins are at risk from this type of unscheduled event so the patch coming this weekend should be fine.
As for donations, those should only goto the dedicated miners and supporters of Megacoin.
As requested, officially as of now, there is open recruitment for supporters to join Team Megacoin,
Please contact ohiwastedmylif for the details  Smiley

Thank you for your kind support everyone.

Per Kimoto, "there is open recruitment for supporters to join Team Megacoin". Please count me in, I will do whatever it takes to see MEGA coin succeed. We are back mining at mega.minepool.net, and it looks like the blocks are starting to fall again. I'm going to start bringing my friends back in, and hopefully we can get the hash rate up decently over the weekend.

Thanks Kimoto, glad to hear MEGA coin is back on track. At least some of us had an opportunity to pick up more Megacoins at a great exchange rate. Wink

Best wishes from all the Megacoin fans!

I've got all my hashes at megapools dedicated port:

stratum+tcp://pool1.us.multipool.us:3348
or
stratum+tcp://pool1.eu.multipool.us:3348

got 20 blocks in 24 hours, coming quicker now.

Chatted with flound1129 in #multipool, told him the price wasn't updating, hoping to keep MEC out of rotation until we get a client update. (fingers crossed)

flound1129 said has a ticket open with cryptsy-api about the wrong price.
also said MEC would be 'switched off' until the diff comes down.
(price is still wrong on multipool, putting MEC second most profitable coin to mine behind FTC. so, we may incur another hashrate spike soon.)

--

Also, why does the qt-client reported netspeed seem to drop with the difficulty?

netspeed dropped from 12.52 @ diff 8.196 to 12.14 @ diff 7.769 just now.

megapools graph shows this pretty consistently on the pool stats page.

Count me in!  I've been excited about this coin since its inception.  I'm working with vtr99/v12amg, captn62, and vr4mines over at mega.minepool.net.  We have 7.2 MH/s going right now.  We're trying to knock out blocks that have been stuck for the past few days.  We're making good progress and hope to be "caught up" in 6-8 hours.

Props to darianc, dos311, rapta, and now Scooter for working on the multipool.in side.

Go Megacoin!  Grin
