... What's really needed is a wider acceptance, by investors but also markets and services that accept MΣC

Gaming @ http://www.megadice.co.nz does not work! Lost just 500 MEC!  Angry
@ ethought: In the "Terms & Conditions" i found your email. can you plz checkt whats wrong with the site?

Sorry about that - The server suffered a DDOS attack a couple of days ago. My provider told me they had blocked all incoming connections at the outer router. However it looks like the actually shut down the server, so the megacoin client was not running. I just restarted it and all outstanding bets have now gone through.

Apologies for the delay.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

This transaction has been stuck in my wallet for quite a long time now..  Any way to get it into the blockchain?

    {
        "account" : "",
        "address" : "MKj3PnWNbzw4r9qTqTAJJ52C6ncUarsR7b",
        "category" : "send",
        "amount" : -10000.00000000,
        "fee" : 0.00000000,
        "confirmations" : 0,
        "txid" : "74d8a56bd6c8a3851a33fcd664c83bff4a879e3d2d542a5b997bb85ae579f6b7",
        "time" : 1375173270,
        "timereceived" : 1375173270
    },

Did you try these already?

"checkwallet" "repairwallet" "-rescan"

I've tried -rescan several times.  The problem isn't that the transaction is in the blockchain but not in the wallet, it's the opposite of that.  The transaction is in the wallet but not in the blockchain.  Checkwallet and repairwallet do not appear to be valid commands.

$ megacoind --help|grep -i wallet
  -walletnotify=<cmd>    Execute command when a wallet transaction changes (%s in cmd is replaced by TxID)
  -upgradewallet         Upgrade wallet to latest format
  -rescan                Rescan the block chain for missing wallet transactions
  -salvagewallet         Attempt to recover private keys from a corrupt wallet.dat

$megacoind help|grep -i wallet
backupwallet <destination>
encryptwallet <passphrase>

Possibly if you redownload the block chain this transaction may be gone.  Or if you have a recent wallet.dat backup file you could revert to before you had the stuck transaction.  The transactions that hit the block chain should all still be there.  Maybe Kimoto could add the "check/repairwallet" commands in the coming update.

Megacoin's market cap is currently below CGB, WDC, GLD and IFC.  It would not be hard to envision this situation correcting itself in the not too distant future..

I've been thinking along the same lines. Looks like a great opportunity with quite good odds of success.

IFC and WDC should not be above MEC. CGB and GLD are okay, cgb is rare and gld has a lot of people investing at cryptsy so the price is spiking, but who knows.
MEC is rather unique(starting from wallet).. The next  update should be big and fix everything, a proper ANN should bring back interest.

Agreed.

Considering the issues with Megacoin I think the value has been holding very well - although it should be much higher.

Dr. Kimoto we are eagerly awaiting the next update. Any ETA?

Don't stop mining now!

I'm amazed at how many people have moved away from MEC - I'm not giving up - and I'm still looking for dedicated miners on gr33k.gotdns.org.

I've fixed the stats updating delay too Wink

I can feel the Megacoin earthquake starting to rumble. I sit here with a big grin on my face when I hear people talking about the death of Megacoin, and others selling off MEC at rock bottom prices. Thanks guys! MEC has quite a few credentials no other coin can boast. As ALIEN alluded, it isn't hard to imagine the trend changing.  Grin

Delay? My stats are updated even before I start mining Cheesy

But really, great job. You have the fastest pool around. For me at least.

Not giving up on MΣC either, but buying under these conditions... Well, let's just say you shouldn't spend what you can't miss. Still aiming to get at least 100K. Just don't know how Cheesy

And we need to get things going, get creative !
We need to get the currency used by more people than just the early adopters. Otherwise it's going to be put-aside by others, at least we have a community let's get things done !

If we hit block 60k and still haven't heard anything, perhaps the community should take matters into their own hands? I'd be willing to assist with the fork.

I realize Kimoto is probably busy...but this is getting a bit ridiculous. Network speed was down below 10 MH/s at one point and confirmations are sometimes taking days -- there is no reason to continue on like this when there is a simple solution. If this is part of a greater plan to kill the price and scoop up as much MEC as possible before bringing it back to life I think it's gone far enough. Too much time passes between posts by Kimoto. I've seen other devs fork to improve difficulty adjustments within hours of identifying the issues -- what is the explanation for dragging feet?

I have a lot tied up in Megacoin and I'm tired of this frustrating situation. We have the source so maybe it's time to weigh our options. I've seen the value of my Megacoin holdings plummet from around $4100 USD to about $900 USD despite adding even more Megacoins to my portfolio. When you consider how easy the solution was, it's pretty irritating to take a hit like that. I obviously understand the risks and volatility of altcoin markets but the issue here is simply inaction.

If an update hasn't been released by 62k, whether by Kimoto or the community, I'm forking Megacoin regardless of what is decided and we'll see how it plays out.

I am far from a patient person, but Sometimes it pays to have a little fortitude. Volatility can be your friend, so I'm buying MEC now while it's cheap. I don't speak for the good Dr., but if you look at the work that has gone into Megacoin, I think it's safe to assume Kimoto has a plan. More than likely it will have been examined from every angle to make sure it is the perfect solution before it's implemented. If anyone other than Kimoto starts messing with Megacoin, that would be a prime reason to bail.
