Man, I'm getting sick of the multipool jumping in for an hour an pushing the difficulty up for the next 12 hours.
Dr. Kimoto, is the finite impulse response filter you chose for difficulty adjustment going to stay? I haven't done the math, but I'd guess the current difficulty response curve is to maintain the block per hour count. Is that right?
And, if so, is there anything to be done about the bursty 1Gh/s network joins/leaves?

Ethought, thanks a lot for the credits and the wonderful pool. I really hope the multipool is dealt with soon, it is getting frustrating.

Hi All Looking for Beta Testers for the new pool. http://www.miningpool.coAll comments, questions and suggestions welcome. I think I got an orphan block, but your site doesn't show it: [2013-08-12 14:28:17] Accepted 18722cb8 Diff 686K/910 BLOCK! GPU 0 would be nice to have verification it's an orphan. my timezone is US/EST Also, please indicate tz offset in your pages, or standardize everything on UTC. Last block shows '2013-08-13 03:59:43' but UTC time would be '2013-08-12 18:59:43+0000'

I think it's time to make a new thread for MEC, and quote all updates that have been made with all links/info updated? 31 pages is too much for someone new who discovers MEC.

We're ~15,000 blocks away from another reward reduction -- it's going to be important to have the new difficulty adjustment in place before this hits. Like I mentioned from the start, we can't expect people to continue mining through another one of these. I wasted hundreds and hundreds of dollars and represented between 1/3 to 1/2 of the hash power throughout the last situation...and I refuse to do it again. Without any crowd to attract more miners, it will literally just sit there. I'd rather implement the fix now to keep things flowing smoothly (in fact, it will actually help with the stability right now as well. The burst/crawl simply doesn't work unless a currency is as established as FTC/LTC/etc where people will keep mining regardless.)
Basically, we're talking about 2000% spikes and drops -- let's reconfigure things to respond more rapidly to the changing mining strategies of altcoins. Otherwise, the only way anybody will mine MΣC will be in multipools. Things work fine during spikes...but going the other way the difficulty actually continues to increase for a while (despite no hash power and taking hours to find blocks) resulting in confirms taking forever too (making MΣC just as difficult to use as it is to mine.)

Maybe adjustment each block or something of the likes?

Maybe adjustment each block or something of the likes? Yeah...or even if the exact formula stayed in place but the adjustment was every 2 blocks instead of every 10 I could live with that. If nothing is done, it could take months to recover in a few weeks.

Can't be that often, would never stay in sync. I saw some coins with it i guess..? Anything is better than the current state in which we have problems.

Well the recent issues probably scared some people off. If we'd get a few sites to start accepting MEC once we get a new diff algorithm, and all of this possibly before next halving.

You are likely correct that it scared a few people off, but that may be a good thing for those of us who can see beyond the short term. In the long run it will be about Megacoin's development and features vs. other coins. When compared to them, I believe we have many reasons to feel confident.
