if it doesn't reach 1000 in 3 years, I think it would instead reach 0.
If you look at the price chart. It's been growing exponentially. Actually it should reach 1000 within a year.

Liberty Reserve was Napster, centralized and run by a single company. Bitcoin is bittorrent. How is that working out?
bitcoin may as well be considered one company Only as much as BitTorrent or Email is a company

Care to elaborate? You say that without explaining anything. That's like saying the world is going to end because this guy said so. What is stopping Bitcoin from reaching that amount? I do believe it could reach that amount. But, I don't think it is any time soon. It's still very young and is not yet adopted by enough people. Because of the amount of people mining, it's going to be hard for people to actually buy Bit coins. Sooner or later they are going to become very hard to get. Therefore, as long as they are still in circulation & are used for something, they will become more valuable.

Not in the close future. To reach 1000$ theres a need to pump way much capital into BTC We all could see how the whole BTC ecosystem react to rapture changes few month ago. From the different angle - I cant imagine that it drops to 0$ as somebody mentioned. Too much people invest in this and BTC start to get traction in massmedia and thus - investors. More and more people are aware of it (like myself), more and more ecommerce shops start to accept bitcoins. Additionally I dont think alternative crypto currency will survive on the long run. I would compare this to mp3 revolution. There were many alternative compression standard in that time like .ogm .wmv etc but none of them become such popular.

I can see the fear starting to spread as the reality that we won't be right back to $100+ in the short-term. I can feel it myself as I have to convince myself to stay in and do my part for strengthening the ecosystem. It's interesting to be a part of this as there is a faith-based aspect which I don't exercise very often. We all hope (at least most) that the price will rise sooner than later, we just have to make due with what we've got right now.

If I was willing a few days ago to buy at $100, then I can only see this as a good thing. I'm getting the bitcoins that I buy at a MUCH cheaper cost than I was already willing to pay. How valuable they are to me is not dependent upon how valuable they are to the people who are buying and selling at MtGox (or any other exchange). I know how much I'm willing to pay for them. Anything less is a great discount. Anything more and its time to stop buying and just hold on to them or spend them where possible. I adjust my opinion about value based on their security, and utility.

This was the same philosophy that bankrupted many people when they were buying the high flying internet stocks and kept accumulating all the way down in 2000.

That's why nobody should ever invest any money that would be devastating to lose in any risky venture. If you don't recognize bitcoin as carrying a significant risk, then you shouldn't go near it until you've done enough research to understand what the risks are.

funny how you never hear about anyone selling on here right now at $72 or $73. They are selling for a reason but you never hear from them? Are they dumb or are they smart to sell? The sellers have to be thinking I am smart sellling at this price right?

Agreed. The value of bitcoin will increase tremendously when there is a movement away from using fiat-based currency. And it also has to survive this tankage that has been occuring over the past two or so weeks....
