If you use a computer first you have to install the virus browser for your computer, you should not click on the link unknown site, remove the installation of unknown software. If you use a private key, try to hide it and have a backup.

As many others have already said, cold storage is your best option.
If you have more than $1000 in crypto, its definitely worth buying a hardware wallet like Trezor or Ledger as the device gives an extra layer of protection.

Other than that:
Keep your computer clean with regular malware scans (I use iobit Advanced System Care and iobit Malware Fighter)
Don't download dodgy torrent files onto the computer you use for crypto
Keep your seed and private keys safe, write them down, don't save them in a file, especially not stored on Dropbox etc.
Don't ever log in to your wallets over public wifi networks or public computers.
Always double-check the URL if using online wallets and never click adwords links or email links that ask you to 'confirm your wallets details' etc.
DON'T EVER give your private key to anyone for anything.

Internet has provided us a sites which can be trusted but to avoid from being hacked is not to trust everyone, think first and be wise. Be careful always from from every sites that we are entering. We should have a highly secured wallet to avoid hackers or scammers. On how we take care of your physical wallet that should be also on how we protect our digital wallet. You should always check your accounts or wallets and don't immediately rely or trust from every sites you do not know without proving it.

Cold wallet is the best. Placing it on the exchange that you can trust as much as possible (although it is not complete)

In human's nature, if there is new thing created,  there will be a new crime or illegal activities will rise along with this. In our generation since everything deals with techinology, hacking is very popular activities by some IT experts in order to obtain more profit.  I think every investors should be careful in every information that they will provide since it is very essebtial to them to invade your account.

Just be careful on what kind of wallet you are going to store your bitcoin on and be sure that it is credible enough on taking care of my money. In my case, I only have one wallet that I fully trust here and that is coins.ph. I know that it is trusted and many people are using it here in our country. I haven' experienced being hacked on it yet and I know I will never have one.

Use always good, long passwords and 2-factor authentication.

I think you shouldnt give out any information regarding to your account. Dont make easy passwords and obvious passwords. Be careful also on filling up forms with your infos they might get information from there. If you find the form so fishy DONT EVEN FILL IT UP. Be cautious always. Dont even fall for those too good to be true links. Always review your transactions so that you wont missed out any incoming or outgoing money in your wallet. Good luck!

Never click any link or to be very safe, put all your accounts(emails,wallets) on another pc/laptop. And also examine if you are on phishing site.
