And here I was thinking that Facebook and Google is into Bitcoin. If it will happen in the future I will definitely invest in it. In my country majority is into facebook and I don't even remember using other search engines except google. Nice Idea there. If someone could tell facebook to build their own cryptocurrency then go. when a company, or similarly a country, a bank, a financial firm,.... creates a new coin based on bitcoin using the blockchain technology, they are always creating a centralized token and that is a creating huge difference. it may seem like nothing in words but in reality the difference between bitcoin being decentralized and global without any kind of restrictions regarding usage whatsoever and a centralized token that a company issues is a huge one.

they can try and make their own version and many of them are doing it, but in the end it will be just another altcoin in  a sea of altcoins.

I think the idea is either they create their own cryptocurrency or they get into Bitcoin. They are more capable of creating their own and it will be readily acceptable to investors since Facebook and Google has already established themselves. It is highly recommended that these companies do it together instead of creating a cryptocurrency on their own. Yes it might be under another company name but it will be a big hit if these companies combine in creating a their own cryptocurrency. Yup nice title.

wouldn't it become another crap coin? I mean, big G and facebook are huge company and can support their own crypto but let's face it, why the need to create a carbon copy of BTC for their own purpose?
They can easily create a different kind of blockchain in their datacenters and have control on everything, that's where the community wouldn't like it too much due to centralization as opposite as BTC.
Definitely it might worth to invest something into it but this is not comparable with BTC world.

As of this stage I don't think so they will create something like this, thing is bitcoin and other cryptos aren't legal, by creating something like this they will be posing a risk to national security and even to its users who'll use it, cause one request and their data will be out for the government to inspect and people will get caught so I don't see this happening. Plus I don't even want them to touch Bitcoins.

No one can say what can happen with this companies. If they decide not to get involve and their competitors might  see its advantage and they might use it against  them, if they decides comIng later they might be too late.
most important  thing is what is the need of the block chain in their company. If it doesn't ssatisfy any nèed it will fail. Anybody  can fail in cryptocurrency if they do not do all that is required.

My thought is that it would be exceedingly unlikely for them to create their own cryptocurrency in the near future. Cyrptocurrency isn't like services where you need to offer it so you don't get left behind by your competition. It's simply money, and no one really makes any profit except the actual holders. It would have to be decentralized for people to buy in, too, so they would have to let go of control. It's not exactly something a for-profit company would consider doing.

They could probably release tokens which you can use for their services, but only once crypto has truly taken off. But even then, why not just accept Bitcoin? They definitely have no need to raise money unlike ICOs.

Google, Facebook, Amazon, Tesla, they will try to develop their own coins. This is as expected, the crypto market is getting bigger and bigger as a result we'll see official coins too.

Here our country mostly people used is Facebook and Google it is not possible to accept or adopt cryptocurrencies using this social media cryptocurrency will !such well known here for those not related in cryptocurrency world. But I don't think what will be the platform of this two big companies by creating their own tokens. Besides Facebook now used for promoting cryptocurrency one of that is btc.

The only purpose would be internal settlements for their services.
Google has google wallet, and Facebook has plans for one also.
There are other services like the ads which can use a token (not an altcoin).

The main advantage would be that both companies get over the headache of international currency settlements and bank transfers and unload all that banking deposits / withdraws / currency conversion to the exchanges.

Why not? Before there was Facebook there was Friendster right? Before Google there was Yahoo. Having a decentralized currency that is accepted in the market is really an open opportunity waiting to be explored. I think it's more practical for them to create their own brand than to use BTC since BTC has already reached a value that is way too high. Why not create your own when they have all the technical know how and capability, a better branding and access to potential investors. If this two Big companies Facebook and Google will create their own cryptocurrency it will be an instant hit. And more companies will be joining in. The future of Cryptocurrency is bright.

My thoughts exactly. In doing my research on Bitcoins, I think everything started from an idea. The idea was sold, rejected, accepted, copied, innovated and so on and so fort. Years after the idea started, it actually gained value and was generally accepted by people. Although governments are against it nothing could be done since people believe it has value. Since it has gained much value big companies started to notice it and it becomes a trend world wide. If you are a big company and you see an idea having value now, will you not copy the idea when people has so much belief in it? I'm talking about Bitcoin by the way. Well I hope I could have my own idea that will be generally accepted by the people and earn much profit from it. Being accepted doesn't necessarily mean being centralized.

It would be so good to have as many ICOs, either they are created by giant companies as you say or any by any one. BTC price has gone so far. If Google comes in with a crytocurrency, it would really have a good value. The team would really move into the market and conqure its place. They are very storng. But, they would not take over Bitcoin.

We have seen scenarios where countries have banned Facebook from operating within their territory which we can then say their crypto currency can then be easily banned in their country. Aside that, there is a report which Facebook admitted to have been listening to users via the speakers of their phones in other to tailor their advertisement needs that is a threat to independence, anonymity and freedom which bitcoin rest upon.

If they make a new coin that is their own, i guess it will be popular but the thing is, it will be centralized, and they can do anything to your coin, including the price, as they will be in the charge of that coin.
It can be used as toy for them to do such evil things like money laundering, tax evading, etc (although people already done it with bitcoin, but it will be easier if you are the owner of the coin).
It will be just the same with the bank system if you join a centralized coin.

Not necessarily. I mean if their is a growing market for cryptocurrencies and if we truly believe that cryptocurrency is the future why wont facebook, google and other big companies create another cryptocurrency of their own. It may not be directly under Facebook or Google's name as long as it has their backing it will be sufficient to gain support from investors and consumers. Ultimately it will be all about profit. It will not be a bad prospect in the future since it only means that more companies are accepting the idea of cryptocurrency and BTC value will soar higher. I think it's inevitable. Right now, bitcoin has been showing how big of a potential it has due to its every increasing marketability, and especially, value. I think it's just a matter of time, if it's not happening at present, when big corporations would try their hand in the bitcoin market. Whether using it as a currency to pay for their services and goods or using it as a mode of investment for them to stretch their profits. Facebook has always been a good marketer of many products, and if it will decide to make it's own coin, many people would certainly be encouraged to use and patronize it knowing facebook has masses of users.

Yet, I don't think this will happen for the moment. I guess that these companies have invested in bitcoins, "just in case" but due to the blockchain system, such currency are not really interesting for them. The control is unavoidable, there are tracks left everywhere... And they need fiscal safe places where they can avoid taxes. Bitcoin is not submitted to such taxes for the moment, but if it grows large enough, it will be. And such companies can no longer hide their activities.

So I guess they'd rather see bitcoin die. (But it won't  )

Big companies like facebook do have an opportunity to go in that direction. it could be that the cryptocurrencies they make can be applied in their own systems like to pay advertising bills and also to buy some premium features. of course with it then large companies can easily attract users. This is a consequence, but when I look at this time it is not there at all a scheme that will lead to it, it seems still takes a long time to be able to implement it.

But if all this happens then it will make the world of cryptocurrencies will be more interesting, in my opinion this is not a threat to other coin. This can even help improve the development and also the belief in cryptocurrency. we will see new records, this will be the day that I look forward to sometime in the future.

These two companies are very familiar among the people in my country. If Facebook and Google create Cryptocurrency of course will not be passed by the people who are here because the important role of both companies is needed by the community here especially if to issue a crypto itself, everyone here will certainly feel the impact of its development. And of course bitcoin prices will skyrocket because bitcoin is the parent of all crypto that exists.

Been watching values of BTC and reading a lot of negative lately. I'm a bit new so I keep my mind open to new Ideas or other opinions. Still the post on Uber accepting BTC as tip is a start. Also I read that Mcdonalds might be into bit coin as well in 2018. We don't want to miss that but if they are really for crypto's they'll probably adopt the technology of blockchain itself. when a company, or similarly a country, a bank, a financial firm,.... creates a new coin based on bitcoin using the blockchain technology, they are always creating a centralized token and that is a creating huge difference. it may seem like nothing in words but in reality the difference between bitcoin being decentralized and global without any kind of restrictions regarding usage whatsoever and a centralized token that a company issues is a huge one.

Even though they will make their own currency and use it in their platforms, which is the biggest social media platform together with the biggest search engine operator, Bitcoin will never be eliminated nor get affected by it. Facebook and Google creating their own cryptocurrency if true has nothing to do with bitcoin. Its a separate entity which both companies can "control". As opposed to bitcoin which is decentralizes. What do you mean miss that? Both companies have already IPO and it doesn't make sense to offer this crypto's to the market. This may be one of the following szenarios:

Either its considered as "Premium Currency" like in MMORPGS ans stuff or it is taken serious..less likely..but if this happens it will be a great opportunity to invest..but not really a competition for bitcoin in points of "real" currency facts.

They are free to create their own cryptocurrencies that will be used on their platform, it's good for crypto in general because google and facebook is a big company and will become a gate for a lot of people to crypto. that's the thing, they don't like the idea of decentralization which is why they started creating their own altcoin which is a centralized crytocurrency. it is a weird move in my opinion and it will fail for 90% of these companies that  try to do it because it is too centralized!

This thread is about two companies creating some two new altcoins, and the numbers of posts indicate quite the contrary you assume.
People are interested in a alternatives.

Bitcoin will still be on the top, I think it's hard for other new coins to snatch it's crown being the king of cryptocurrencies. No matter how many coins are made everyday, still it won't affect Bitcoin. I don't see any good things coming if Facebook and google producing their own coin, and for what purpose if they will? Maybe it will just be a hinder for the Bitcoin's cause and dividing the community, just what alts are doing now and it saddens me.

Hoping they would consider BTC as their cryptocurrency then we will see bitcoin skyrocketing. But the problem right now about bitcoin transaction is not yet solve and it lower the probability of getting bitcoin as their cryprocurrency. There's a lot of possibilities coming for bitcoin this year. After creating some buzz on social media last year, we can say that these companies, facebook and google has started to think about creating their own cryptocurrency. There's a lot of possibility with this to happen because we all know that these companies are capable of having one with how powerful their websites are and the amount of money they have. It doesn’t look like they would do their own currencies. These are too risky and too expensive. Maybe they look at possibility to make their coins or tokens based on other currencies (like BTC or Ethereum).

Btw, I noticed that it is very popular now through ICOs to make their currencies basing on Ethereum Networks. One example is  Kickcity, which is already have operating revenue and will hold ICO in February.

Why would every company come up with their own crypto currency if it is a mere copy of bitcoin,then there is nothing worthy about it,if they can come up with a better technology which super seeds what bitcoin can represent to the world,then there is a big opportunity ,but people are here in this platform because it is decentralized and people are not looking for a centralized solution.

True, it appears that they just want to earn money from possible investors instead of actually making an innovation from bitcoin and other first cryptocurrencies to make the market and the system much better and efficient. Why would they be interested in creating their own cryptocurrency though? Sure, they could probably implement bitcoin and ethereum and or whatever cryptocurrency will be dominating in the next decade; but I really don't see them creating their own cryptocurrency. If ever they would, it would definitely be under another company name.

I think the idea is either they create their own cryptocurrency or they get into Bitcoin. They are more capable of creating their own and it will be readily acceptable to investors since Facebook and Google has already established themselves. It is highly recommended that these companies do it together instead of creating a cryptocurrency on their own. Yes it might be under another company name but it will be a big hit if these companies combine in creating a their own cryptocurrency. Yup nice title.

If ever both of these giant companies decided to make their own crypto currency I think it will not be for everybody. Since they are huge companies, they can easily set high value for their coins since it will be expected to sold out within seconds and suffice it to say that only the wealthy persons can afford it. Or even if they will set the price as low as possible, the whales will just be around the corner and the chances of everybody getting some coins are slim. Honestly, I don't see the need for them to create their own crypto.

I dont care thay will do or not, question is why we need that coins! It will be centrilized like ripple (if it crypto))) and would not accept the ideas of crypto world!!!

amazon , Facebook, google, kik, all these companies have been rumored  be planning  create their own crypo currency , these companies with the exception of kik are mega enterprises and a move to create a crypto currency could only serve to further sure up the crypo market as not only would these companies offer some sort of stability but they would also add some respectability to the market which continues to endure severe broadside from governments and financial institutions alike . It really all falls down to the behaviour of the public on how will these pricings determine who will remain on top of the food chain of cryptocurrencies. But I guess these giant social media platforms' cryptos would somehow affect bitcoins but since bitcoins differ from these industries, it's most likely not to get affected at all.

I dont think facebook would make their own cryptocurrency after they ban all ads about crypto in their website.
Its interesting if google can make their own crypto because it can make the trust of crypto increase.
Its good for us as crypto hunter.

Not really. As a pioneer in cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin will only increase in value once companies like Facebook and Google acknowledges the use of Cryptocurrencies. Although I'm not sure why Facebook suddenly banks ICO's relating to cryptocurrency but I think it has to do with SCAM, one thing is for sure It has affected the Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in the market. Anyway Bitcoin it self is shrouded with mystery as Satoshi, the founder of Bitcoin so to say, has gone missing for ages. One thing is for sure due to the limited number of Bitcoin and the increase in awareness of Bitcoin, people will go and try it at one point creating more demand that increases the price of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in general. As for Facebook and Google creating their own, its not far fetched, we can only wait and see. If you are in this forum you know that its not the case. The more we ban something, the more people look for it. I don't know if their is something wrong with us people but its just the way things work out. If this happens, such an event should positively affect the price of the crypto currency. But I do not think that such tokens will easily get to someone. Perhaps you've heard about the new, not yet issued crypto currency TONE - a coin developed by Pavel Durov, the Russian genius, the creator of Vkontakte and Telegram. when a company, or similarly a country, a bank, a financial firm,.... creates a new coin based on bitcoin using the blockchain technology, they are always creating a centralized token and that is a creating huge difference. it may seem like nothing in words but in reality the difference between bitcoin being decentralized and global without any kind of restrictions regarding usage whatsoever and a centralized token that a company issues is a huge one.

they can try and make their own version and many of them are doing it, but in the end it will be just another altcoin in  a sea of altcoins.

Exactly. The simple fact that they would use a blockchain does not makes it truly decentralized. In the end, these giants creating cryptocurrencies is just a way for them to create money out of thin air, something which today only banks can do, and I can forecast that it will become very common.

It is good to see old corporates launching their way to the crypto currency platform,Kodak was on a loosing stream for a very long time as they did not have the capability of evolve with time ,even when the technology moved they just forgot to move on,but it is a new development,but the sad part is,it is really difficult to participate in their ICO as the waiting list is really high,even if facebook and google come up with a new crypto currency,i wont be surprised but the success depends upon how much they can bring to the table.
