A lot of the people that say power consumption is not an issue are hosting their mining gear in some sort of data center type conditions. I'd say though that these are in the minority.
meh. my bill is $0.025/KwH It is not necessarily just the cost of electricity used, but also the max. amps your circuits can handle as well as heat extraction issues. Any one of these could become the limiting factor that a serious home miner would run into as they scale up. Myself I had to lease a commercial warehouse because I was tripping residential breakers at 2 separate locations.

Yes indeed I am coming close to hitting that home miner limitation wall. I am in the process of looking for a commercial space to lease. Right now seeing how it's -19 degrees C outside heat extraction is not the issue, but come summer I won't be able to add any additional hashing power.
As far as electricity costs for me it's 0.09 per kWh which is not bad, but damn 0.02 is amazing.

where in Canada? I am hoping to look into hosting options for mining in the next few months because come spring I will be approaching my electrical capacity (apartment) and also seeking to deal with the heat. It would be pretty nice to set up mining collectives for industrial space with large mains and cooling capacity

If I find something suitable and you are willing to co-op with me we can definitely do that. Having more purchasing power will also allow us to get a higher quality space. Apartments have their pluses Yeah no doubt when the landlord foots the bill. However be careful as many rental/lease agreement have clauses against abuse of this sort. Here I'm assuming you're referring to all-inclusive service which is typically the norm with apartments.

I would love to see/create some sort of space in the GTA or toronto itself - Im sure it wont take long before a lot of peole start looking for someplace else to host thier several kW of mining rigs

Terribly sorry to spam the thread but reddit has not turned the tide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=327767.msg4403941#msg4403941Still growing, pool speed up from 4.16PH to 4.61PH over last 2 work shifts (8 mins each). Perhaps they'll reach 51% by the weekend ? Edit : if you signup for a free CEX account, you can login to ghash.io and watch the pool stats.

I just heard from Dave that prices are going to be dropped to $16/GH on all kits & spare boards later today. Guaranteed to beat BFL prices.
Anybody that has purchased *after* the most recent diff increase (Jan 2) is eligible for store credit.

Is that $16/GH based on the nominal specs of 25GH/card, so $400/card? Although that's a bit higher than my current target price of 0.43 BTC, it's tempting.

now this is the way it is supposed to be done! I'll be ordering cards as soon at the price change is in effect.

I need to look into details - I dont see the idea being viable *yet* per-se, but come march and the warmer weather and lower profits I think there could be a lot of energy-hungry, hot equipment that people no longer want in thier homes/apartment/offices and a centralised location (maybe even private pool) could be the best way to go. I persoanlly will be trying to relocate >2kW of equipment by then
