the reason Yifu could be absent might be because of this deal, 8M in chip orders is definitely a penny in comparison to a 200M private funding venture, while I dont agree with how the situation is being handled since many of us are being left in the dust trying to figure out whats going on, Yifu is a person and a business man who is trying to become wealthy, sometimes you have to make decisions like this where someone isnt happy and this time we are on that end of the stick,

I dont think yifu is a scammer in any sense of the word he is just prioritizing if this deal is actually real, it also makes BTC look incredibly strong since someone out there is willing to put a quarter BILLION dollar bet into BTC

Sounds like there is confusion about which Avalon is getting the money (and it's not the BTC mining company).  From another thread:

http://www.xconomy.com/san-diego/2012/09/04/running-on-two-year-cycle-avalon-ventures-lands-200m-for-tenth-fund/

EDIT: here is the thread link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=268081.0

So I guess they just pulled the 20nm thing out of their ass? I don't see how anyone could confuse the two companies besides their name... there is absolutely no mention of Bitcoin although this venture capital firm is investing in Bitcoin startups.

Look at the date: "/2012/09/04/" -- no room for confusion.

Almost exactly one year ago. This company has been raising $200M every 1-2 years for the past several years. My money is on the Venture Capital firm getting $200 million, not the poorly run Bitcoin mining startup.

It's a fake news , it's about  Avalon Ventures, and it shows  on January 10th, 2011.

The bids are desperately thin on bitfunder right now. If you got some free coins on BitFunder and you like ActM, put some limit orders in. Less than 15K sold to hit sub 0.004.

Just did a lil arb from BTCTC to Bitfunder, couldn't pass it up even though it took 4 hours.  The time it took actually saved me some coin tho.

Is this also fake?  Or will we be trotting a different excuse for disregarding the obvious implications?

The party is over? LOL! I'd say the party is just beginning! How long until a behemoth whale finds ActiveMining "interesting"? Wink

Man, I'd hate to be long Activemining today.  That's why I don't mess with options.

When you smell smoke in a crowded nightclub, make sure to get to an exit before yelling 'Fire!'   Cool

Hahaha.  Anyone else remember this other article that popped up on a WSJ owned news outlet?

Unless I really study this $200 million business plan then I'm not that worried. ASICMiner is valued at $160 mill and these securities were poised to realistically compete with ASICMiner. You all studied the model and business plan for these securities, right? That is what matters. Don't get scared by the "$200 mill" number. Throwing a bunch of money at something blindly almost never works out.

It's not blind when you invest in one of the only successful producers in the sector.
