this project is good, but i think you should use premine for some bounty or airdrop. Maybe you can look at the way byteball done. Its your main competitor.

I'm sorry but, I'm not following you. How is byteball in the same arena?

edit: if you want an airdrop, mine it.

byteball, they already used smart contract in their chain.

And so ? Dero is about Smart Contract with privacy and PoW.

DAG existed way before Bitcoin, so why Satoshi didn't use them ?

They're quite different and the post was very nonsensical. I suspect they're aiming to offer their "marketing" services.

In regards to an airdrop, today the coins are worth $0.50 each which would be akin to giving away free money

ITs not give away free money, its money for marketing. And make user trust more in coin dev. If the coin dev keep so many coin. Its the kind like its not decentrialized anymore. I saw many project fail cause of the owner keep so many premine coin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Directed_acyclic_graph has many sources that pre-date Bitcoin

I can dig for better sources if you'd like

If I may ask, are you a miner?

Sorry for the poor information source, my travel laptop is acting terribly right now

I can't speak for the Dero team in any capacity, however, they did post an explanation of what they plan to do with the premine. This is just my opinion, I feel that if a team puts in the kind of work and dedication that it takes to become a real success that they deserve to keep their premine. They're taking a lot of personal financial risk and dedicating a lot of time to this project with no guarantee of reward if they don't produce a solid working project.

Given that many coins with a premine are being punished by investors if they disagree with the way the devs use the funds, I feel that it gives the Dero team a stronger incentive to be smart with their premine as it's a very sensitive subject right now.

CaptDero is good people, I won't speak much about private conversations but I can say that I'm reasonably confident that if Dero succeeds that you will see some genuine good come of those premined coins.

I just acquired a 3rd RX 560 and immediately put it to work mining DERO - that's a blistering 1350 H/s I've allocated to this coin!   Grin

Okay, enough of the hyperbole, but it is about 2x more hashrate than I've allocated to Intensecoin - another project I think has promise - and about 4x more than I've allocated to eDollar, which, frankly, is a proverbial moonshot because it has a low probability of success, but even 340 H/s brings in ~500 coins per day so why not throw a CPU at it, right?

I used to mine intense when it came out, but stopped after I realized that when hosting a VPN you have no idea what nefarious activities people could be using it for. It's just not worth the legal trouble in my opinion.

Meh, I'm not so worried about being an exit node for a VPN as long as there is full encryption of all internal communications, and, frankly, any VPN that allowed intermediaries in the network to observe what was going on inside it would no longer be /private/.

But I vote with my hashpower and DERO has the most promise of any Cryptonote coin I've come across; ITNS seems to be struggling a bit here.

Just switched from ITNS to DERO because it looks like a good project with promise.

Just wanted to clarify that ITNS VPN is still in development, BUT they will allow the exit node to control the types of activity they want to allow. Based on their whitepaper at least, this is going to be listed in a kind of VPN marketplace (that will have other uses in the future as well) so that you can pick your preferred exit node when buying a connection. Still an awesome project for the long term holder IMO.

The dev having lots of coins is necessary because he has 2 other developers he works with who need to be paid, and the dev must also pay for the hosting of the website, original mining pool, marketing, incorporation of the dero company, etc. You saying he shouldn't have much premine is like saying a startup shouldn't own their own shares. If the startup doesn't own their own shares, what the FUCK is the financial incentive for them to succeed?

I would like to commend captain dero on his efforts. It looks like the status update 2 was released 5 days ahead of schedule. This looks like a team of committed developers to making their currency succeed.

Captdero, could we maintain a short term timeline of when all status releases are coming out in the main thread? To me, showing what you're going to do on a micro-scale is important because it demonstrates your ability to get shit done. If we had a micro-calendar, then I could maintain it and show the world that you deliver, and that you deliver usually before the deadline. I could make and maintain a google calendar and we could pin the link in bitcointalk and slack for greater community awareness.

I haven't had that issue, you may want to check your PSU/fan speeds. Usually, crashes are due to heat or power issues.

Normally I don't invest in premined coins, but premine coins of Dero project are locked for 4 years and it's a really good sight of long term commitment from our Devs. This is the only exception that make me feel much more comfortable, even more than my other no premined projects.

Here is the address of premined coins, we can all supervise how the coins will be used in the future:
