my 3x 49 port setup

I finally setup 3x 49 port hubs each one has about 40 -42 sticks

I found out that when I exceeded 125 sticks cpu use went nuts and the 125th stick read endless errors.   not sure if the pc or bitminter software is the issue.  windows 7 has a 127  usb device  limit for 1 controller.  this pc has a 5 port pcie usb card with a second controller  so I should be able to go to 240 sticks or even 250.  So when I got past the 127 device limit the cpu went nuts and the last stick added com284 just read endless errors.  in the photo below it is at  6000 and change and counting up really fast





I pulled the stick out and have been running the 3 hubs with 122 sticks at 40.6 gh dead stable for a day.

everything uses 483 watts





when you figure the value of the heat ( weather is cold in NJ, USA)  My net power  drops from .16 cents to .10 cents a k watt.

  So today I sold a coin for 260 at coinbase.

  So at 511 mill diff  for the next ten days  this will earn .4btc  worth 104 usd power used will be 11.57  net gain will be 92.34 usd.


 if diff jumps to  664 mill  the setup would do  .33 btc worth 88 usd minus 11.57 power = 76.43 usd.

even at 2 bill it would earn money  about  1.50 usd a day

I suspect your cutoff point of 125 sticks could also be down to maxing out your PSU's

A good psu is past its best at 80% of its its rated power.

0.51mA per stick * 125 sticks = 63.75A   * 5V   =   318.75W   80% correction  398.5W
This is for the erupters and PSU's as an absolute minimum.
The hubs also consume power. possibly another 20%  bringing you to approx 500W

What is the 5V rating of your psu's?  If its less than 33A then you will have reached your power limit. (some posts are saying 30A is needed for these hubs, it depends on psu efficiency)

Nope, I can verify its not a cheapo eBay,  circuitry is built better and meant to handle more, I had mine apart to check it out,  I also got like 20 of those cheapo 10 port eBay hubs (for sale btw) and had those apart to verify they could handle the amperage and can tell you these are better built.  I can't take a pic of mine apart due to its mining but will post a pic of the internals of the eBay ones once I get a chance.

I wonder how these 49-port hubs do with the Blue and Red Furies.  I'm hoping someone made an actual test/measurement with the actual devices and figured out how many can fit (i.e. if it is necessary to alternately skip ports either side-to-side or front-to-back or both ways to accommodate the larger Furies.

yes, i get 8.7 amps at 5.5 volts that should power 16 devices. Don't for get that you probably want some cooling.

if you're BE's are failing/dropping off at or near full load, then you probably don't have a regulated power supply.

best way to check is with multi-meter or as aurel57 has with one of those LED volt meters.

I found also when checking your voltage at the power supply your voltage may be constant, but if you were to check the voltage at the last USB port (furthest away from the power input) there will be a voltage drop.  If using an unregulated power supply then the voltage drop will be greater than a regulated power supply.

These are just the plain ol' Anker-style 10 port hubs that nearly everyone has been using.  The power supplies that ships with them seem to fade out and then die after running the BEs for awhile.

I replaced the standard 12v 4a supply with a generic 12v 6a supply from Amazon.  Certainly that can be no worse than the original power supply, right?

I refuse to mess with rigging up and wiring my own power supplies for USB sticks.  I hated doing that with my Blades.  It just seems so archaic to me to do things that way.  Plug & play or I'm not interested!  Lol.

I bought the Orico P10-U3 10-port USB hub with the SW-120400 12V 4A power brick and it worked for 2 days. I tried swapping the 12V 5A power brick from an Anker hub but the female plug connector is a different diameter. Hopefully an $8 replacement brick will make it work.

is there a special pattern in the DLINK DUB-H7 HUB when you use 5 USB Miners?
i had some problems after a reboot ... i only could plug in 4 Miners and the last one never was recognised by bfgminer and in the Windows Device Manager i had a yellow Warning Sign by one COM-Port
