It wasn't arbitrage. It was preference for a better exchange.  I didn't profit from it.  People with a lot of shares will prefer BTCT mainly for its higher liquidity.  If you have less than 100,000 it's pointless because it's all relative in the end.

So you simultaneously maintain the stance that 1 share on BTCT is worth more than 1 share on Bitfunder and also the stance that you did not profit from transferring shares from Bitfunder to BTCT, heh.

Anyway, I do not see why you are arguing with that guy about buying shares on bitfunder or btct, it really doesnt effect anyone yet you are picking a fight for no reason.

Higher liquidity, that's the only advantage.  Period.  I said trading a $10 bill for 2 $5 dollar bills isn't going to gain you any kind of special advantage.
People keep talking about arbitrage as if its a get rich quick scheme, but it's not like that at all..

Your $10 bill analogy doesn't make any sense in this scenario.
An ActiveMining share on BTCT is exactly the same as an ActiveMining share on Bitfunder. If you are in it for the dividends, then the only smart thing to do is to buy on Bitfunder since dividends will be the same on BTCT and Bitfunder while you can get up to 20% more shares on Bitfunder with your coins. Any increase in share price will be reflected in both BTCT as well as Bitfunder from the time you enter in either market. If one plans on holding long term (not me btw), then nearly all the advantages lay in buying at the lower rate available at bitfunder.

For the purposes of short term speculation, then there is no question that BTCT is the way to go.

You can't sell shares on Bitfunder.  The volume isn't there.
It would be like trying to sell gold to a hobo.
If you have a lot of shares, then you have a disadvantage if they are on BF.
This is why BF shares are worth less.  You can't sell them.

Over the last 24 hours, 25,209 shares of activemining were traded on BTCT. In the same period of time, 26,915 shares of activemining were traded on Bitfunder. Your statement is not exactly factually accurate.

In any case, why would an individual interested in going long necessarily worry about their ability to sell in the short term? I thought you were one of these people?

Last 24 hours doesn't represent a long-term stat.  And no, I have never been interested in selling in the short term.

So if you are not interested in selling in the short term then I am confounded by how much value you place on supposed volume differences between the exchanges.

Selling long term would get affected by volume difference too.  I don't plan on taking activemining dividends to the grave with me.   Roll Eyes

Now, why would anyone accept a trade of a lesser amount of shares if the dividends will be the same?
the only meaningful trade would be for an amount of shares which would have an equal value in bitcoin, given the difference of price between the two exchanges.

I would trade 10K shares of ActM on BF for 7692 shares of ActM on BTC-TC.
Or 20K shares from BF for 15385 shares of ActM on BTC-TC.

Contact me in PM if interested.

Because no one sane wants to be on BitFunder.
Pff, yeah, lets go over to BTCT where the owner makes foot-in-mouth remarks about blocking the entire U.S. population. That's really preferable.

Is this correct? So all things being equal, with a price difference of the current average (15%) after 10weeks the compounding on Bitfunder has earned you 252 more shares than on btc-co. That's 2.52% more value in your investment after only 10weeks. I'm not clever enough to work out what the compounding would equate to over a year - anybody?

edit2: I accidentally used 30% price difference instead of 15% so 10week figure is not 2.5% - but principle remains.

It is not he same if the share value is lower on Bitfunder and there is no way to quickly and easily arbitrage.

It's like saying you are buying more apples for your bitcoins, but the reality is that those apples are 15% smaller than the BTCT apples.
You have more apples but the apples you have are less desirable.

Your own estimate is laughable.

week10
11,046 shares on BF - priced @ .050 = 552.3 btc
10,794 shares on btc - priced @.065 = 701.6 btc

Your own estimate is laughable.

No it isn't - your oversight is laughable - you are forgetting I paid:

500btc for my BF shares
and
650 for my btc.co shares

So after 10weeks-
I've made 52.3btc in divs on BF
I've made 51.6btc in divs on btc.co

And the longer that goes on the bigger the difference.

And when the shares are opened up between both exchanges, who will be laughing then?

edit: With an identical initial investment on both exchanges (650btc) you would obviously start off with more shares on BF, so the difference in btc made from divs after 10wks with an identical initial investment would be the previously worked out 2.52% - so 16.38 btc more on BF.

Is that right?

If 100 btc gets you 15,384 shares on btct
And 100 btc gets you 20,000 shares on BF

And let's say that in one year each share has paid divs worth 0.05 btc each then

BF shares have earned 1000 btc and
Btct shares have earned 769 btc

This is a no brainer and people are getting caught up in the share price without focussing on the important issue of large div payments.

Unlike that exaggerated scenario, .05BTC will never happen, and so your divdends won't be as important as your ability to sell the shares.
