Call is when you think the price is going to go up Example Call at 0.75 Premium 0.125 would mean that Strike is 0.875 Price needs to be above 0.875 for it to be profitable to you Options become worth less closer to expiration Puts are the opposite if you think the price will collapse suddenly you buy puts then buy shares on the market at the lower price and execute the puts at the higher price

I posted this in the other thread but people seem more concerned about whining about share tendering than actually discussing ActM:
Has anyone thought about how the recent rise in price to over $100/btc will affect paying the NRE? I think we will see positive news sooner than expected because Ken raised funds assuming ~$90/btc. Now it should be significantly easier to sell for that price or higher on Tradehill. He might even have $100-200k extra to speed up the expansion process further. The price is going to go through the roof!
That is a very good point! The extra money should easily cover the remaining expenses (if any still exist) for the Klondike boards and Avalon clones. some part of those funds could be return as a dividend to the shareholders... it could support the price

You exercise the options and you buy them at 0.0065 the premium is the cost of the option so its not profitable till 0.0086 if the price goes to 0.09 You make 0.0035 per share minus the premium and that is your profit Example Bought 1000 @ 0.0086 Strike + premium Exercise options @ 0.009 Meaning you buy all your options at 0.0065 and can sell them for the market price at 0.009 For example if I wanted to offer an option I would say I want to buy a put option Strike 0.0075 Premium 0.0015 Duration 18 Days Meaning that if the price goes below 0.0075 the option is in the money But it would not be profitable to execute unless I purchase shares at a price below 0.006 Meanwhile it would give the option issuer 0.0015 BTC per option to use as money for offering to write the option An option is written when things are volatile For example I would write the put option if I think the price will collapse again for example more equity moving to labcoin in 2 hours creating a chaos spread I would buy a call option if I thought that the price would go up on labcoin chaos occurring and people wanting to switch to Activemining To be honest I want to buy options but the markets kind of wild so it would scare most people who want to offer any

From the main thread Hello all! I just wanted to pass along a few updates while I am onsite meeting with the engineering firm regarding the Avalon clones. First though, I would like to apologize for the delay on transferring the shares from AMC-TENDER back into your accounts on BitFunder as ActiveMining shares. It has been a hectic week(s) and I have not had time to get these processed. I am planning on having all of the tendered shares in AMC-TENDER out the door by end of business Friday along with dividends after the transfer. I cannot get to these until Friday because I am still on the west coast finalizing some orders of business with the engineers on the prototypes. Remaining shares that are not in the AMC-TENDER account: I have talked to Ukyo, hopefully, regarding the remaining shares on AMC BitFunder, and what we can do to get them automatically processed and transferred over to ActiveMining. At this point, I would like to request that no one else sends me their AMC shares to AMC-TENDER, so that they can all be converted automatically. I will manually tender any remaining shares in the queue before then as well so no one is left behind.
From this I read that The Avalon clones are coming along well. Thoughts?

Seriously. Why does everyone and their cat feel entitled on knowing the details of the behind-the-scenes stuff with Ken. If you're a board member, then sure, you're entitled, but simple forum members... Let the man work. Reading through pages of forum posts is hardly what I'd want my CIO/CEO doing at any given time, can we all agree with that?

This is a speculation thread and I was speculating. My apologies if I gave the impression that I was trying to hurry Ken or anything-quite the opposite in fact. I am more than happy with the work Ken has - and continues to put in. I was just trying to spark some discussion - other than talk about rival IPO's

And you were correct to do so. I sense an impending announcement regarding set dates for increased mining workload. edit; It's unlikely that a person would mention a meeting had it gone badly. "I'm onsite with the engineers", to me suggests progression. edit 2; So this news, which is on the cards, will add an additional layer of shareholder confidence, pull back those who were/have thought about jumping ship and form a new step for us all to rise upon and view the proceedings below. This security is 28nm.

An official press release from eASIC - what's the timeframe most people are allowing here? I'm aware Ken said a couple weeks, and from what I've heard from him and those close to him, he seems to really have his nose to the grindstone.
At what point do you begin losing confidence?

I know a lot of people on here are really eager for an eASIC press release. I'm not holding my breath, here's why: 1) At this stage if there is ANY press release at all it'll be about 50 words long and say something along the lines of "eASIC has agreed to partner with VMC to develop a chip." 2) The press I see on eASIC's website is mostly for COMPLETED projects. PR doesn't just stand for Press Release after all, and good PR this is. 3) eASIC won't be publicly committing to anything in a press release (especially delivery dates). That said I think Ken is the real deal. One interesting point to note: The Swedish company KNC Miner is also working with eASIC through ORSoC (who is a channel partner with eASIC). See this image as proof: http://abload.de/img/dsc_36330bukj.jpg taken from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=214285.msg2410076#msg2410076A channel partner is also known as a value added reseller if I'm not mistaken. Since ORSoC has already publicly announced their partnership with KNCminer does that put them ahead of ActM in the product development curve? Are they using the 45nm process or 28nm process? As I see KNCminer as the only credible threat to ActM's runaway success.

At what point do you begin losing confidence?
May I refer you to the first paragraph? Ken said a couple of weeks less than a week ago. I'd suggest that if you're even considering or questioning losing confidence at any point whatsoever before 2 weeks is up then you've over invested, not understood investment, or not quantified your risks? Investors need to be realistic. If you invest in a public company you don't get daily or weekly updates (unless they have some major PR machine/newsletter), and you certainly don't get the CEO responding personally to lots of forum messages. If you need constant reassurance or to constantly question what he's doing then you should sell some shares until your comfortable with Ken's plans and that he'll follow them through, or you shouldn't be investing at all. This is risk money, it isn't safe money. Ken needs to be left to get on with his job now. Should there be regular updates? Sure, but let's not have to find out what sandwich he is eating! It's mainly important to know when delays happen (there will be some) or when a schedule target is hit. The next target is at the end of next week tho is the sort of thing that could easily go on longer, so let's wait until then.
