CasinoCoin: An open source, peer-to-peer digital currency specifically designed for online casino gaming.

A hard fork occurred at block # 227,000 - please update your CasinoCoin client to version 1.1.x if you haven't already!

Downloads

v1.1.0.0 update

CasinoCoin was officially launched on Thursday, July 18th at 9:00PM EST with absolutely no premine.

Since April 15th, 2011, a day dubbed as 'Black Friday' by the online gaming community, it has become increasingly difficult to deposit funds for online casino gaming due to deposit restrictions between centralized financial institutions and online casino platforms. Avid online players have since not been able to enjoy the same conveniences and the ease of accessibility that they were once afforded. Those days are no more with the advent of CasinoCoin.

As a decentralized crypto currency, CasinoCoin offers the solution to help fill this void. Consider CasinoCoin as a universal casino chip that is easily transferable between online casino gaming applications, exchanges and peers. Imagine using CasinoCoin at your favorite online poker sites, then instantly transfer your winnings over to your favorite online casino to play Blackjack. How about a friendly wager over a game of chess? This is all possible with CasinoCoin.

CasinoCoin is an open source, peer-to-peer digital currency specifically designed for online casino gaming. It is a platform independent crypto currency that is easily transferable between gaming applications, exchanges and peers. CasinoCoin can simply be summed up as universal casino chips.

By itself, CasinoCoin has no value. Within casino gaming applications, it can be used to play games of skill and chance. On the exchanges, CasinoCoin is worth what the market values it at and it can be bought, sold and exchanged to fiat currencies such as US dollars or exchanged to other crypto currencies such as Bitcoin.

CasinoCoin is based on the strengths of crypto currency protocols such as Bitcoin, Litecoin, Feathercoin and digitalcoin, giving it a second movers advantage. It leverages the security of Bitcoin, the accessibility of Litecoin, the abundance of Feathercoin, and the speed of digitalcoin. While CasinoCoin can be used as a general purpose currency, it serves a specific purpose and is marketed exclusively for online casino gaming and rewards redemption.

Mission Statement
Central to the goal of CasinoCoin is to help make online casino gaming accessible to all by removing barriers. The success and strength of CasinoCoin rely on three main pillars: active and talented developers, fostering community, and trust through transparency.

Technical Specifications
  • scrypt proof-of-work algorithm
  • 30 second block time targets
  • ~336 million total coins
  • 720 blocks to retarget difficulty
  • 50 coins per block, halves every 3,153,600 blocks (~3 years)
  • fair launch, absolutely no premine

Community Support
Show your support by using the CasinoCoin logo as your avatar

Community support is vital to the growth and adoption of CasinoCoin. After much internal debate and discussion about whether to launch with or without a premine, it was decided that CasinoCoin will launch with a fair launch policy with absolutely no premine. By doing so, CasinoCoin will rely on the community for donations that will go towards further development, costs of hosting and servers, and bounties towards the growth of the CasinoCoin ecosystem. Trust through transparency is a cornerstone to CasinoCoin's mission statement -- launching with a premine like so many other unsuccessful alt-coins goes against this principle.

Developers
The CasinoCoin project is open to contributions from active and talented developers. Contact me if you would like to contribute your expertise.

New block announcements are made in the #xpool channel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I tune for p2pool?
A: p2pool has very rapid expiration of work and new blocks, it is suggested you decrease your intensity by 1 from your optimal value, and [possibly] set GPU threads to 1. If you have non-p2pool backup pools it is recommended to use --failover-only since the work is effectively like a different block chain.

Q: Why is my Dead rate so high?
A: Dead rate is the amount of shares that were stale or DOA. Very high dead rates can indicate miner misconfiguration. Try lowering your intensity by 1. You can also try setting GPU threads to 1.

Q: Why does my miner report so many longpoll/stratum from pool request work restarts?
A: This is normal. It is how often p2pool shares are generated.

Q: How does the pool fee work?
A: The fee's on P2Pools are a bit different than other pools. Any fees that a P2Pool has is probabilistic. In other words if the P2Pool has a 1% fee then 1% of the shares go to the pool not 1% of every share. The pool can have periods of bad luck in relation to the fee and get nothing at all...but it averages out over time.

Q: Why are the stats not updating?
A: Internet Explorer may not display current data after a browser refresh. Please try using Chrome instead.

Q: Can I set my own share difficulty?
A: You can set the level of difficulty sent to your miner by appending a difficulty setting to your wallet address.

To set the difficulty for your specific hash rate multiply by 0.00000116
For example, if your miner is capable of 1440 Kh/s:

1440 * 0.00000116 = 0.0016704

Example Connection String for a miner capable of 1440 Kh/s:

cgminer -o stratum+tcp://dgc.xpool.net:8810 -u DTWPTRSi9HoLh69NPd2fbDWUGHrx1nLdmk+0.0016704 -p password --scrypt

The following difficulty settings can be used as a guide:

Kh/s        Difficulty
 1           +0.00000116
 50          +0.000058
 100         +0.000116
 250         +0.00029
 500         +0.00058
 750         +0.00087
 1000        +0.00116
 1500        +0.00174
 1750        +0.00203
 2000        +0.00232

Start your own P2Pool Node

https://github.com/CartmanSPC/p2pool

Public Casinocoin P2Pool nodes
P2Pool nodes combine their local hash rates to the greater P2Pool hash rate. Use the one with the lowest ping to your miner or start your own local node. Switching between nodes maintains your PPLNS payout level.

336 million total coins

Is that enough for a gaming coin?

Great question -- I came to that figure in order to strike a balance between having enough in circulation for gaming without diluting the value of the coin.

Little confused, how you plan to run a casino, with no premine. How is the house going to have enough to cover the bets??

Ha ha ha what a roundabout way of bringing up the likelihood that they haven't actually tested this thing with an actual casino, let alone even actually have a casino, so really any stuff they did to make it easily integrate with casino software and easy for casino users to use to interact with casinos with is purely imaginary, no real ergonomics / interfaces / etc testing having been done...

Maybe it'd be interesting to also know how many person-years of actually running online casinos their design team had before finalising this design?

Mark,

The starting difficulty is roughly 0.000244140625.

The block reward starts at 35 for the first 720 blocks in order to reward very early adopters. It then drops down to 5 coins per block and increases by 5 coins every 720 blocks until the full reward of 50 coins per block is reached. By then, difficulty should = 1.

Ah, instamine. Figured.

Even just adult-sites need massive security compared to most sites, casinos likely are worse, with that difficulty it seems kind of totally bonkers batshit insane to even touch this thing for a casino, heck have they even yet really decided whether bitcoin, with its massive force of mining gear securing it, is secure enough for them to adopt it?

Thank you! No, the screenshot was taken against the "test" production blockchain in order to test out some real-world scenarios. However, this blockchain will be wiped clean prior to launch and can be verified once I get the CasinoCoin blockchain explorer up and running.

By the way, since, unlike bitcoin, it is specifically designed for the kind of environments where multi-sig would be essential, what kind of features does it provide management for dealing with multi-sig, is its multi-sig user-interface far more user-friendly than bitcoin's for example? Does it maybe default to all addresses being multi-sig, at least when in business mode rather than player mode? Or what?

None yet prior to launch -- I've been primarily focused on designing CasinoCoin and getting it ready for launch (ie. website, forum, graphics, etc) and building some backend services (ie. DNS seeds, block explorer, mining pool). With this announcement and launch, I plan to promote it to online casino operators to garner interest and integration of CasinoCoin.
