It will depend on what country you are in. It will be the same payments they take normally, so I think in the U.S. that means PayPal, credit, BTC. Other countries that's BTC and USD wire transfer.

Cryptouniverse presold their 821 batch at over $3100 EURO. If that is going to be the price of all distributors, then I am switching to Bitmain for everything. That is purely insane.

Yep. At that price the S9 is a profoundly better option. The reliability of the 821 is unknown. The S9 is more efficient and costs nearly half the price. And BTC is seeing resistance to the $20k USD price.

I'm not sure their thinking here. Hoping Blokforge has a more realistic price.

4100 EUR or USD ?
I live in EU and the price I see for the kit is 4110 EUR (that is 4900 USD at the current change).
So if you see 4100$ (3450 EUR change), that's much better...

By the way, yes ROI is NEVER... even if you have free electricity!!!

I agree, this is not encouraging.

I agree. This only serves to further the centralization of mining.

Frustrated as well because I passed on some Vega's so I would be able to afford an ASIC.  Sad

Was hoping the pull back over the past couple of weeks would calm some of the mania, but looks like it is still in play.

$4k+ for a 11TH/s miner... not a chance in hell.  I hope blokforge doesn't follow in footstep.

$4000 for a 11TH asic miner lmfao.  Smoking crack I see.  So... more money.. for a product that generates LESS money than the competitors... a year ago.  Yea, sure.  I'd rather buy up a bunch of 741's than pay $4000 for a miner that is essentially mildly better than the 741.

Exactly!

They should have the 761s come to the other markets not just China.

Look at what people pay for miners on eBay, even at this crazy price they will probably sell, so why sell them cheaper?

Anyone who pays that kind of money for one of these machines is taking an enormous risk of never being able to get their money out of them. I foresee a flood of used machines hitting the market in the next 6 months from people desperate to get their money back. I’ll pay 3 grand of one of these MAX, anything more is too much of a risk.

I agree, I would pay a premium for Canaan's reliability and distributors added value, but 2x antminer is insane. My point is, they are doing business, demand is huge, if they sell for less money they are stupid.

The "ebay bunnies" are already here too. Check some of the "feedback" in this or Cryptouniverse's thread. People actually start to make up excuses for Canaan and their distros to come up with insane prices like that.

I guess, this must be the 3rd stage of grief kicking in.

November carried 1280 EUR for 741. January comes up with 3800 EUR for 821, around 3 TH/s difference in efficiency. That's 300% the price for 37% up in efficiency.

If any of you welcomes this, you guys are damn idiots. Let's face it. The math is weak already at this point leaving aside anything which can actually happen in 10 months, even before those units were shipped, check: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2445506.msg27722732#msg27722732

Why did Canaan stop manufacturing 741s and 761? "End of line" my ass. This is a basic money grab. And an obnoxious one. New "better" series, new price tag.

Stupid? Or rather competent and reasonable? If those 821 were 20TH/s, go for it. 16 TH/s? Still bearable. But this "new model' is nothing new. Obviously Canaan "stopped" to manufacture 741. With 741 reasonably priced on the market, who would buy 821s?

I mean, don't get me wrong. I currently own several miners, including a couple of 741s. With funds ready in place, I've been looking at Canaan's new line (like anybody else). Expected to pay premium as well. But 300% the price for 35-40% more power on 741 vs 821 is beyond ridiculous. This is such an obvious manipulation and money grab it is sickening. It is! We are talking here 11 TH/s. Eleven. That's S9 efficiency in... November 2016!
