Bitcoin with it's high fees and slow transaction times is hardly suitable for payments – spending the same fee whether you buy a coffee or send $100,000 is a joke and the promise of scaling solutions such as the Lightning Network hasn’t been fulfilled.[1]

While there's no shortage of old and new believers to keep the party going, along with plenty of developers working to create better, forked versions of bitcoin, I’m betting my chips on a more flexible alternative.
The door is wide open for blockchains that use smart contracts, like ethereum,[2] bitcoincash, litecoin and more......

I think I will stick to bitcoins going higher further just like americanpegasus predicted. Even there are lots of new coins that offers more than bitcoin does (in terms of fees and speed). I think most of them will struggle as some says utilization is one of the keys in order for a coin to survive and that what Bitcoin has.

I hope this kind of agony to the traders of Bitcoin will stop although we can't deny the fact that Bitcoin price is very high since the day it was started but the only problem here is the delays and high transaction fees. Does ethereum never encountered such events like this?

If Lightning Network will be released i wonder how it will went through this year, everyone is making their own move to make a change to this unstoppable agony.

The only thing that i expect for the next year is just to see bitcoin more stable than during this year, to see it with lower fees, with transactions much more faster than what they are right now.. and of course, the lightning network.

I think bitcoin will be the same today and tomorrow also. No one can really replace it's place at the first glance. I'm sure there are lots of coins but the thing is they don't have that much outreach as the bitcoin is having. For example, bitcoin was successfully in achieving the 300 billion market cap in very short period after lots of struggle like scale up problem, transaction congestion and much more. This proves that inevstment do not want bitcoin let go and thus they are increasing its weightage a lot in first place.

This can't happen with other coins. Yes people might say Ethereum but I don't think investors really wanna go way around bitcoin. In addition to this we don't know yet how bitcoin will behave in the next year.

2018 will still be the year of bitcoin. It will still continue to dominate the market. Right now, more and more investors are hooked to bitcoin. And there is no stopping. The price is still expected to go up.

I think that in the upcoming 2018, this was the first bitcoin unshakable position, and now has more than 40% of the funds in this one coin in the market, this is the encryption currency bitcoin community trust decision, I don't think that ETH has the ability to replace it in a short time. The high transaction costs and the speed of congestion have always been a problem, which will keep bitcoin trading in the trading market down in the next few years.

It will still be bitcoin year. Why would any other coin be the year of that coin? I do think that bitcoins will still go up in the next years as basically it is not done yet going up and it will not stop here. Bitcoins is not yet done, it has not even gone mainstream and look at where it is now. Imagine if it would go mainstream and would be used in a lot more places than just online.

If we talk about altcoins, then to be honest I'm pretty sure that the new year will be the year of NEO. But, in any case, the best results in 2018 will have to show Bitcoin

Yes definitely 2017 was Bitcoin's year.Now as we are witnessing Bitcoin's popularity and growth,we can say that 2018 will also be the Bitcoin's year.Many people have invested in Bitcoin because they know they will receive use profits in a very short period of time.More and more people want to enroll themselves in Bitcoin and want to take benefits of bitcoin.It is the leading cryptocurrency in today's date and no other cryptocurrency has the potential to overtake it.

2017 was Bitcoin's year only as much as the other years preceding it were - I agree it'll always be remembered as the watershed year for Bitcoin for many reasons. Some say this was the exact point between disruptive tech and mass adoption (I somewhat disagree, but can concede that this year it entered mainstream consciousness, if you also feel JP Morgan and co are the mainstream of the mainstream). This was also the year it shrugged off all the previous barriers to 1k and is now in five digit figures, probably throughout 2018.

But others will remember 2017 for the year of regulations, the year of Litecoin, the year of the forks - arguably all Bitcoin related anyway. 2018 will still belong to Bitcoin, though, sorry to disappoint you. Expect more drama, expect Bitcoin Cash to renew its fight. Expect the hype, superlatives and politics to continue.

My prediction is; If you think 2017 was an inpressive year - you have seen nothing yet. I think 2018 will make your head spin. There will be many new highs and even some lows but overall it will be the year when an even greater number of people get involved in Bitcoin and crypto generally.

From what I have heard, Matt Colarllo thinks that we may see the lightning network by the end of 2018, so there is going to be another entire year of complains and cries about the fees going up, this is going to make the drama even worse when it comes to the BCash scam getting more traction. A lot of people are going to lsoe their BTC because the idiots think that there are any other altcoin that solves the problem when none does.

If Coinbase, Xapo, Bitpay and the rest of the big payment processors that are the big chunk of the transactions get segwit, fees would go down to cents again, but they are part of the BCash scam.
