this Raven  coin has a serious up side to it.

I see it over 1 usd by December

I was glad to see everyone talking about it here, I was reading up on it and you guys helped validate my plan to switch over this weekend when I'm off shift.

I'm also trying to get away from Windows so lots of changes and playing around.

Thanks for all the info

Though I love the enthusiasm that this coin is generating, it has almost nothing interesting about it other than its not so novel algo and the most elusive fair launch feature.

But then again they will announce the roadmap on the 3rd of April.

Also philipma is a veteran in the crypto world and could be seeing something that I dont.

Edit: Also having this coin reach 1 dollar would be valuation similar to bitcoin being at $1000 considering its total supply.

RVN is gaining attention because the algo and the team of devs behind

Community is supporting the coin, and you know, any coin with great community and devs, tends to rise

There were a few things I liked about the project, when I read up on what they have out so far.

They are trying hard to come up with an asic resistant algorithm, and it looks like they've come up with a clever way. Admittedly I do not know enough to see if they have succeeded or not, time will tell.

The fact that there was no pre-mine on coins and no amount set aside for the DEV team is also a huge plus.

In the end I am trusting everything they have put out, and I like it. As I've said before I'm no genius but it did feel good to see people here talking about it, it also helped me figure some stuff out on my end before moving forward.

Are you guys getting wild hashrate fluctuations on RVN?

My 1080 tis go from 17-22-15.. they're just all over the place.

EDIT: They're all reporting 28MHs now O_o

this Raven  coin has a serious up side to it.

I see it over 1 usd by December

Haven't had time to check this coin out.

Is it Nvidia only or can you mine With AMD at fair speeds similiar to Nvidia?

Anyone know what speeds it generates with R9 280X, R9 290 and RX 470

AMD = Nvidia in this algo. My 580 8GB averages around 7.8MH/s at 1400 core 1900 memory. 7.2MH/s at stock 1340 core.

470 is around 5-6. Core speed is the bottleneck. Memory is just as important too on AMD.

As for the r9 290 I couldnt launch the amd miner it just freezes.

Not really Nvidia is alot better, 1070s are at 9mhs. 1070ti 11ms , and you dont have to do anything memory only raise core by say 60 -100

most people have hard code modded rx cards with low core , so moving these to raven is not easily doable

I got my 4 vegas going and they are good 11-15mhs

Simple reasons asic resistant.

Better with nvidia

Nvidia has

 p102
P104
P106

All mining cards last I looked a low market cap well under 60mill

Easy for nvidia to boost price attracting new miners.

Boosting sales of cards.

I have been testing the 16 card p1060 and it was looking to become a fancy sculpture due to drop in zec mining.

I will contact builder to see if I can run it with enemy  which will make the gear worth running again

RVN is made up of multiple Algo's all tied into one, it switches algo's every 2mins and 30 seconds roughly, the miner currently is set to average out the hashrate over a 30second period, so your seeing the differences in algo's mining and being combined together

11 of 16 algo's are heavy core intensive, so +Core -Mem works well
remaining 5 are random between +Core and +Mem, so getting unstable results on windows is probably either +Core to high for 1 of 16 algo's or intensity is to high, the stock miner trys to run like 21 intensity i think

hmm nvida still gets great hash rate on raven with negative mem set or even zero

how is that if some of the algos are memory intensive

Huh! Cool thanks for the info..

Reading the whitepaper the MIT devs created X16R algo specifically for the RVN coin - and to be ASIC resistant.

The X16R hashing algorithm consists of 16 hashing algorithms operating in chain
fashion with the ordering dependent on the last 8 bytes (16 nibbles) of the hash of the
previous block. The algorithms are as follows:

0=blake
1=bmw
2=groestl
3=jh
4=keccak
5=skein
6=luffa
7=cubehash
8=shavite
9=simd
A=echo
B=hamsi
C=fugue
D=shabal
E=whirlpool
F=sha512

Example:
Previous Block Hash:
0000000000000000007e8a29f052ac2870045ae3970270f97da00919b8e86287

The final 8 bytes: 0x7da00919b8e86287

Each hex digit (nibble) determines which algorithm to use next.

cubehash -> shabal -> echo -> blake -> blake -> simd -> bmw -> simd -> hamsi ->
shavite -> whirlpool -> shavite -> luffa -> groestl -> shavite -> cubehash

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...

Whitepaper has issues.

It claims equihash is the Ethereum algorithm (an easy confusion to make, but a WHITE PAPER should have had plenty of time to get checked before it was published).

It claims "ASIC resistant" but there really is nothing in the component algorithms that makes it more ASIC resistant than any of the OTHER "X series multi-algorithm" algorithms that ALREADY HAVE BAIKAL ASIC for them.

The "rotate component algo order based on the last hash" is not going to be hard to set up in an ASIC - Baikal is already most of the way there with how their EXISTING multi-algo miners are set up, just need to add a matrix switch and control logic for it to connect the "process each individual algo" parts in the right order.

I'm not saying it's a bad coin - but some of the underlying assumptions don't stand up to fact checking.

Is it possible that with this ALGO the developers have the ability to flip the matrix around.  Just an example:

today the sequence is
0=blake
1=bmw
2=groestl
3=jh
4=keccak
5=skein
6=luffa

tomorrow it could be modified to be

0=bmw
1=blake
2=groestl
3=skein
4=keccak
5=jh
6=luffa

Would that be one measure that could be put into place to prevent ASIC?

Prices off newegg as of today:

GTX 1070 stock clocks does 9 Mh/s costs $549, = 61 USD Per Mh/s
RX 570 4GB stock clocks (Same Bios mod used for monero/ether) does 6.2Mh/s costs $340 = 54.84 Per Mh/s

Factor in that they both consume around the same amount of power it takes away AMD's edge and makes Nvidia = AMD.

Factor in people that have the cards  and  Nvidia is better.  A 1080ti takes 1 slot  and for me cost = $0

this coin  has a big upside it has low market cap.

@ QuintLeo

could  they simply make a Monero/Equihash/Eth  al-gore-rhythm  call it the big 3 coin.

Would not that  coin  be asic resistant?  I suppose it would be good.

This may not benefit many in here but I wanted to report back with my findings.

My two windows rigs are nearly identical. Both 3x. 80ti and both use hp z400 workstatio. Same amount of ram. Neither on ssd.

One is stable with evermore and one is stable with enemy.

Don't know why that is the case but I'm happy to have stability on my two windows boxes.

been messing with it a bit. nvr with enemy on auto intensity on my 4 nv cards draws an extra 250 watts between the 4 of them heh. auto intensity sets 19 to the 1070/1070ti, and 20 to the 1080tis. same clocks/power/mem as i used for equihash, didnt change anything at all besides the newer 391 nv driver, i was on 385 or something before and enemy crashed with that one. so i read the README heh.. getting 57-63 50-55 mh/s right now. varies a lot gotta pay attention as i know the various algos hash different rates.

win10 pro and i also have 3 amd cards running claymore on eth on the same rig. very stable so far.

gonna try to tune for lower watts but i am still learning from you guys. vapourminer, always 2 steps behind. yup thats me.
