I would prefer BTC as well. I just want this thing done and over with. Can you send them an email asking how quickly they can send the BTC to you?

One question, if we take the refund do we owe the lawyer anything?

Well this is a tough choise... IMHO i would go with the refund , because I don't see the full BTC refund happening any time soon , and I wouldn't be surprise if hashfast file for bankrupcy with all the things in their plate right now.
Same. They file for bankruptcy and they don't have to pay anyone legally. I see that happening soon too. For these scam-fast guys this is the easiest way to get out of this mess.

B. USD equivalent in BTC

I think the equivalent in BTC comes out to ~1/5th of what everyone paid originally.. so I'm not sure what you guys want to do but chances of anything happening with HF are so slim I don't know if this is the best choice now or not.

Thoughts, everyone?  Undecided
waldo, so, how does it work? How much USD we get back ?

+1 for USD equivalent in BTC
At this point let's at least get -something- back before they go bankrupt...

Agree, get the refund processed ASAP.

Can we see the terms of doc they sent? or how can we help ensure a speedy refund?

Let us know if there is any contact for a registered 3rd party, if they are going bankrupt, might be getting settled that way.

"An Apology to Our Customers
Posted on 04/25/2014"

These guys are so amateur, they are suddenly very active on twitter account since the legal case happened that froze some of their wallets, and now seem to have gotten round that hiccup.. HF should do a proper statement indicating their fulfilment of MPP or refunds in full BTC or at least in USD at sale price, with quoted exampled and order numbers etc, so all can see.

So far there is very little belief or faith in anything they say.

Agreed, filharvey. I've got 8.8 BTC tied up here! Angry

HashFast is just employing stall tactics to hold onto our money for as long as possible, probably buying and selling BTC as the price goes up and down in order to make a profit irrespective of refunds. Absolutely shameless.

Is it 30 days since they sent that refund thing now?  Any news on getting the "refund" or are they just stalling AGAIN and full of BS.

Can we please go and put these guys into receivership, they need to shown up as an example to all the rip off merchants.

In retrospect, all I can say is "I made a really bad mistake on this one."  But, I still squarely place the blame on HF.

Why the rush to get a fractional refund?  To get back 1/5 of  what we paid seems horrible.  Is that what I'm reading?  That's really unfortunate.  My contribution was 12BTC, purchased at $1280.  So, if the refund is 1/5 price paid and assuming 1/5 the BTC, then that's 2.4 BTC.  At today's price, that is $1080, losing $200.  Better than nothing, but unfortunate.  If it's 1/5 the USD I paid, that's worse, at $331.

Either way, this it's a bad deal.  HF promised a full refund in BTC.  At the very least, I would expect a refund of $1280 (minus the management fee).  Honestly, though, I'd rather sit it out.  I guess I could continue to lose money, but I'd just as soon see them die than to steal from me in this way.

But, if we go with a refund, I too would prefer BTC.

sounds a bit promising. I hope they do survive and produce the ASICs, in that case I'd expect us to get hardware with updated hashrates that would be suitable to the time of shipment. Did we ask for a refund or would we still be able to choose another deal, if they do survive?

If they were really honest, they would have done one of a few things (and perhaps more than one thing):
  • Responded to their customers
  • Offered to provide hardware that would have matched the hashing rate / network rate at the time they were supposed to deliver the hardware
  • Provided a no-fuss refund (I understand they were likely broke, but they could still communicate with customers rather than go radio silent)
  • When providing refunds, return the original BTC like they said they would do (somebody said it's actually illegal to use a customer's pre-order funds to pay for development... some FTC regulation mentioned.  I don't know about that, but there are definitely rules covering refunds for products not shipped on time and they've broken those rules.  The rules even say the customer must be refunded without requiring the customer to ask!)

I'm not exactly a tech person so what kind of hashing would we need to keep up w/ the 400 gigs from back in November and how likely is this to happen? At this point, if we're gonna get some sickass hookups compared to a chincy refund, then it might be worth it to keep this alive. Fellow contract holders/Waldo, any thoughts?

The bankruptcy case involves five claimants—Koi Systems of Hong Kong is the single largest one, claiming a loss of over $280,000. The others are UBE Enterprises, a Utah corporation, Timothy Lam of California, Edward Hammond of Texas, and Grant Pederson, also of Texas.

Sigh, sigh, and when I've told you that we should join these guys (they've called for others to join them here in the forum), you haven't even bothered to consider that.

I know, it's not your money Waldo, it's ours, so who gives a f*.
