If you are just referring to ripple, then it would not be about altcoins then. But still, generally, altcoins will be doing great this year since moat of the countries are now accepting companies that conduct ICOs, without getting in trouble with SEC.

I think its the worst year for altcoin at this current state. The year kicked off with good springs and alts bloomed well around January. Currently we are all getting reck. Market situation is the worst i have sen so far. Markets don't even respect TA and FA this time around. Though the year is still much ahead of us. Good year for Altcoin. I think you are right, there are too many Altcoin born, many fraudulent ICO projects are raising capital. So there are some young people in the Crypto market who have lost their capital because of investing in Altcoins that have no value. 2018 is a good year for the Altcoin but be careful.
