A lot of the times where bitcoin's price plummetted could be attributed to the amount of massive selling that happens at the time. For example, a lot of people cashed-out during the December price skyrocket which became famous because of bitcoin reaching 20,000$ at the moment. Positive news will have the opposite effect.
