i think its not final decision. i dunno why indonesian financial departement banning bitcoin even they are meet the developer of Ripple yesterday in their office in jakarta. what this it? bitcoin will be ban? and ripple will be acceptable? its so funny
I'm afraid that Indonesian financial departments haven't heard about Ripple and other altcoins yet... Just don't tell them about other Crypto! you're underestimating them. of course they have heard about crypto (since years ago), it's all over the mainstream media.

Currently, as far as I know, five major Indonesian banks are studying to accept the bitcoin trade, suggesting that the Indonesian government has broad policies for the cryptocurrency and bitcoin markets. I think this is the right direction of the Indonesian government, instead of hindering the new trend of the whole world they should learn and have ways to manage and accompany it.

Would be nice if OP provided more than those links, which I'm not clicking on.
I'd be tapdancing in the streets if Indonesia did actually ban btc because they're some of the worst shitposters on bitcointalk, as you can see from the replies here. I'm damn sure my prayers wouldn't be answered so easily. Can't North Korea drop a dirty nuke on Indonesia or something? That'd probably work just as well. I can't stand you fucks.
although i don't agree with the nuking i fully agree with the bolded statement. i wish this forum had an ignore setting by country or something.

in my opinion, the government of Indonesia does not prohibit bitcoin, it only gives a call for its people to be careful and selective in transactions with bitcoin because the Indonesian government itself has not been able to accommodate or make a special rule about bitcoin legalization, and that only limited investment, become a legal transaction tool in indonesia. I think the future of Indonesian government can follow the development of bitcoin, so it becomes legal, as more and more investors from the Indonesian community who contribute to bitcoin.

this issue is long and I'm not surprised. I prefer it to happen and it's more assertive. I'm not afraid there's still another way to earn money from Bitcoin.

Everything goes according to plan, all of Asia for some reason does not much prefer crypto-currencies and prohibits transactions and exchange in Fiat. I wonder how this will affect ordinary people, or rather their decision in the future for such an event.

For Indonesia, it's doesn't affect to much since they have forbid bitcoin usage since beginning. They decide to ban bitcoin because they want to protect their civilian especially for terrorism funding ~They Ban because they care !

True. Majority of the governments in our world are afraid of the crypto currency world and bitcoin which is why they will never stop trying to regulate this market and will always fail at the end of the day because bitcoin is not something that any government can ever regulate. The funny thing is that most of these governments have separate motives like personal profit etc behind these moves and many people fail to see this and blindly fall for their scare tactics. All these governments need to realize that bitcoin is the future and must embrace since they cannot stop it.

Looking from the translation it seems like it is only illegal right now for indonesians to trade(aka buy/sell) bitcoin and send bitcoin to other people. It's still legal as far as i can tell to be holding bitcoin. Plus, it is impossible to enforce entirely. If you trade bitcoins with another person without an exchange, how is the government going to be able to tell that you have been using bitcoin at all? It's more of a statement of their attitude towards bitcoin rather than an actual regulation imo. Don't panic because these things are to be expected. Governments don't like bitcoin, and it's been known for ages.

I also have no correct information about it , but recently when South Korea announced to ban the bitcoin in his country, but also recently South Korea announced they are not doing it, but this incident effect on bitcoin price and bitcoin price was suddenly down, but again bitcoin is going to up. So let see it is true news or not about Indonesia bans bitcoin.

Sooner or later, they will rethink their attitude towards bitcoin. Together with the adoption of the cryptocurrency by other states, everything will change exactly and they will have no choice.
Yes and i think majority of the Indonesian people already know about bitcoin and the cryptocurrencies. In fact, there are so many indonesian people who are here in this forum and i know some of them are already earning millions. Sooner or later, they might raise the ban and would eventually embrace the blockchain technology.

It's not a warned. "Bank Indonesia affirms that as a payment system authority, Bank Indonesia prohibits all payment system service providers (principals, switching organizers, clearing organizers, final settlement providers, issuers, acquirers, payment gateways, electronic wallet operators, fund transfer providers) and Financial Technology providers in Indonesia both Banks and Non-Bank Institutions to process payment transactions with virtual currency..."
