Yeah, pretty neat Smiley

I want this to succeed, so could you put the premine information in the OP and your exact plan for it? (Looks like a 1,000,000 premine for UFC, not sure about other)

Yep Block 1 was 1 million.  the breakdown will come.  There has been a large amount offered to a trek forum.  As the original post was closed.  There will be bounties for services.  I will do a running total just not yet as there are not concrete plans.  Give aways / services etc.

Darsek was premined to 10,000.

They alternative was to rely on donations.  But as we all know, miners are usually in it to make money and the margins are everything.  Coins that rely on donations succeed if they are very active at fund-raising. And the whole donation idea is flawed in that some people will donate and others may mine for years without giving a cent back.

BUT WE ARE OPEN TO ANY SUGGESTIONS Cheesy

If you have a great idea how to use this premine then we would be open to anything.  Give aways are good,  but for 9 out of 10 it's just exchange fodder!  Of course the 1 million premine will make us lower down the queue for exchanges.  I hope the cult of startrek can help us gather momentum.

True, though I think giveaways/faucets -- they don't have to be very big -- are useful as they make people download a wallet and give people a stake of the coin which makes more people more likely to support the coin (which, really, is the only value of crypto).

So perhaps in a week or so, I would consider doing some giveaways of 10 UFC/.1 KED a person.

The Klingon KED giveaway is here

The Federation Credits UFC givaway was pulled from the trek forum. Someone is in negotiation for them to let us post there. I have no idea what the outcome will be.

Should do a giveaway here...not many folks want to join yet another board and build up 10 "quality" posts   Undecided

^

The idea is to get a support base from outside the crypto world!  And to get onside the forum owner.  I understand your point though.  It will be considered.

I hope the Trek community reacts more favorably than the GeoCaching community. They didn't get my "GeoCoin" idea at all...lol

Nope, I just meant that "themed" coins are hit and miss with some communities. I thought the nerds of caching would like the GeoCoins, instead they cried, "confusing" and "keylogger." C'est la vie.

Ah, I follow.

I think it's just difficult in general to get the non-cryptocurrency community into crypto unless they can directly do something with the currency  (i.e. if you could purchase star trek memorabilia with FederationCredits, it would be an easier sell to that kind of community). Plus it is difficult to setup / requires a lot of trust in random executables downloaded from the internet, so I can definitely understand the trepidation.

That being said, GeoCoin could be amazing, if the currency could somehow be embedded into caches (and people understood how to use it). For example, if they find a cache, inside is a piece of paper with an url and special code that they could redeem for 50 GeoCoins, and then the next code to put into the cache. Definitely potential there.

In terms of Star Trek coins, I think 'credits' makes a lot of sense with how cryptocurrency is used. I think some well designed mobile apps showing credits and allowing instant transfer would make it feel like future money Cheesy

This is exactly what direction I'm going--QR Code support was the beginning of that. I want to be able to do easy offline paper wallets redeemeable in GE; they can be QR'd from inside a cache and redeemed at home Cheesy

I like the idea.

I may even try to squeeze a block explorer onto CryptoCoinExplorer.com before the complete upgrade to CCEIII.

However, I will not download and there will be less acceptance in the Alt-coin community, until the source is published on Github or its equivalent.

Githhub is free, so there is really no reason not publish the source there.  Smiley

Now all we need is a Dr. Who themed coin......Hmmm  Grin
