I am a relative newbie but have remained pretty calm during the difficult last week or so. The markets are falling significantly again, is this still relatively normal and is the best advice just to HODL? Moving forward I think I will set stop losses on all holdings to protect my capital against falls like this.

When the market is falling just like nowadays, it is the best time to buy more but before you do so, know the reason why it happened to avoid huge losses.

not just HODL you can do both at the same time. You can do short trrm investment some of your asset. Theres a lot of strategy. Just be wise on the time you make a short term invrstment. Try to see the chard to help you for the short term investment. But you need to make sure that the token you want to invest has a potential even the market is falling.   

HODL/and short term investment is both Good even the market is falling.

How many percent you loses until this time? I guess you will got a big loses. No one will blame HODL because everyone in this forum will agree that bitcoin or altcoin price will have high price in the future, it's has been becoming tradition since they known this forum. But you have other way with your belief in cryptocurrency price in the future, for instance, you can sell first and you can buy at lower price. As a result you wouldn't got big loses like this time.
