Bitcoin is good and bad for the environment. Bitcoin's benefits, such as making payments more efficient and helping people escape inflation, outweigh the environmental toll. And in terms of a good environment i think in some way bitcoin can be good for the environment we don't need to use so much paper which are made of trees and other stuff but also there are some parts of bitcoin that can't be good for the environment. For example, Bitcoin consumed so much of energy and it is not good for environment.

The more digitized the world becomes, the less strain will be put on concrete resources. The entire movement is hugely beneficial for the environment. Also, more wealth in the hands of the public means more people with the power to make meaningful changes.

Put the mining farms into a warehouse surrounded by fertile land. Plant trees and other vegetation to provide a haven for wildlife. There you go - Bitcoin mining is good for the environment. Smiley

Even better if they convert the energy stored in all the discarded plastic bottles that are everywhere. They could use this to generate electricity.

Very good idea mate having a mining farms with lots of trees and vegetables surrounding it. They must also put up a solar panel so that they can save electricity bills and use the renewable energy.

A lot has been said about mining and about the electricity consumption of the activities related to bitcoin mining. However, I have thought of the alternatives and how other systems produce not just energy waste, but also plenty of useless work and "human waste".

To have a network that can ensure the completeness of transactions, the global accessibility and all the features that bitcoins, and many alts, have at the moment, would probable produce a huge carbon footprint. Just think of the VISA system or the banking system... the amount of people working on it, the waste of commuting to works, the infrastructure.

Thinking of all that, would you still say Bitcoin is bad for the environment?

I believe it is not. Bitcoin is being done only at home or anywhere you are. You don't need to travel and spend for commuting or filling your gas tank. If it is about the electricity being consumed, there are lots of alternatives already present as of this days. The natural energies and inventions like the use of salt with water etc being introduce are just some of it. Since it is also digital, man power is not needed. There are no more works, salaries and time needed to use.

bitcoin and the whole crypto system changes the world economy and the whole world! I observe how a lot with the help of ico appeared companies! these companies are engaged in the global ecology and the environment! if there were no such possibilities of collecting money, then perhaps such companies did not appear at all!

Maybe it can, because bitcoin transactions don't use paper. They use blockchain technology or online transactions that need internet.

It is good for environment because paper money needs trees but cryptocurrency only needs only internet for transaction.....So its totally green...So its not harmful for environment.

I think that might be possible, because bitcoin is not like banknotes that do not pollute the environment. Bitcoin is electric money and money online, so if you want to trade bitcoin it must need internet.

It is. Cryptocurrency is much better than using paper bills. We don't need to cut trees anymore. Also, we won't need any documents to keep on reproducing. We'll use less ink, papers, and time as well. It would be a lot easier if we're going to invest in bitcoin.

Bitcoin is one of the popular cryptocurrency that was created in the year 2009 by an unknown person named  Satoshi Nakamoto .Bitcoin is a decentralized currency that we can use free of any government and central banks and there is no evasion  of taxes some economist claim that mining Bitcoin takes more energy from electricity and causes the pollution for the environment so they say it is not good ..Some critics says that China  uses more power  to mine Bitcoin and China relies on coal to produce power burning of coal produces carbondioxide .

The use of bitcoin in particular and crypto currency usually requires a significant amount of power, so it also affects some of the conditions. Perhaps bitokoyn is really good for the environment, for example, if we stop using paper bills, we can save a lot of trees, there is one point about how bikoyn can be useful for the environment. In addition, the current banking system consumes too much electricity.

For the people who say bitcoin mining consumes lot of electric power, imagine that we have how many banks all around the world and all of them using how much electricity for their comuters airconditioners and other facilities,do you know how much amount of CFC produced by ACs every year which is the major reason for the depletion of ozone layer if we have crypto currency system we don't need all those banks which can helpful to have great environment.

It may not directly affecting the environment but the the consumption of electric power because of the use of technology is somehow negatively affevting our environment. Also, it affects our health because of too much radiation from laptop, computers and cellphones.

It is not somehow, because of the consumption of electricity it has a negative effect also. Though probably, lesser than the common source of pollution but still, it has and indirect negative effect. On the other hand, it is a good thing that it can lessen the use of paper because it is a cashless source of payment.

For me it is not good for the environment or it can add to our problem in global warming because bitcoin mining hardware's consume too much of our electrical energy and it produce too much heat, i think miners will used alternative ways to cut this problem in the future.

Definitely not for the enviroment.
Unless they change the way to mine it and seitch to PoS or something more green you can't sat something like that. It was an issue at the beginning and it continues to be.
There are too many aspects to consider and many factors that can cause the end of profittability for miner.

With renewable sources of energy and popularization of this sources of energy I think Bitcoin will be good for environment like all other things that
needs electricity. World still doesn`t know how to use all the energy, despite the hype around the progress of renewable energy, many people don’t
realize that solar and wind have only made a tiny dent in the energy mix thus far. The good news is that costs are coming down and many people are
starting to adopt green technologies, but there is still a mountain to climb if we want to truly get off of fossil fuels on a large scale.
There is a need for cheap, renewable energy with simple solutions. With development of human technologies we will come to this too, I don`t
worry about it. Hype that`s been made about energy serve for big companies to earn a lot of money from selling energy to people.

BIG WINNER!

People are the only responsible for the environment so they can use blockchain technology to Affected positively but bitcoin itself has nothing to do with environment.

I think the questin is asked a bit wrong. Bitcoins themselves don't have any input on our environment if we're talking about nature. Minig of bitcoin is what may couse some bad effects.
