I agree with you. As a gamer (but not a pro gamer), its better if you put your time in just playing online games like ML or LOL or Dota 2 instead of gambling since both of them are just for fun and entertainment purposes. The only difference is you will not spend too much in playing online game, just your time.

I think because it is already their vices and it is their alibi for them not consider as a addicted gambler. Many gamblers will always refuse that they used gambling to earn money because it is really wrong, so they always say that its for fun and entertainment.

Problem is that people cheat in games, even when its not for money.     Even if its perfectly even, not even game has a straight competitive edge to it or it might take alot of time to organise and be ready for.     Some games even require alot of time and practise to maintain that skill set and all for no reward.     
I think people should do a bit of both but I dont think either eclipses the other as they meet different needs.   Gambling is more relaxing for many people I think, just a bit of fun not everyone on the edge doing it necessarily but its also possible online games can be very involving and good value for money for many hours of play

I think its an combination of fun, pass time and the possibility to win Big!

But for someone who wants to not lose money from gambling? Just because you are a gambler, doesn't mean that you can only interact with people that are gamblers as well. At the end of the day, we are humans and we are made able to interact and connect with everyone regardless of who we are and who are they. Better go to a bar where you can have a good time and get to know new people than be in a casino, lose your money, and feel bad about yourself. In bars, there are live bands, and stand up comedians so even if you don't get to talk to people, you're still guaranteed to have a good time.

It's beneficial for people to go to casinos but it's not a necessity and we can prove it by thinking of the fact that most people don't go to casinos but still are able to live a meaningful and fulfilling life.

I am playing games online too besides playing gambling and I think both have differences but I like to play the game especially with the adventure games. sometimes, I play games online with my friends and sometimes, we use the money for bets and if someone of us can win then the money will move to the winner. I see that the challenge is not the same but with money involved, I think it's more challenging because we want to be the winner so we can try the best things that we can to win the game and take the money.

Well you can even bet your dota2 items or csgo items on some gambling sites. The gambling site can automatically convert your dota2/csgo items into dollar to bet.

That is also a kind of gamble, theres alot of players who are near to professional quality play and spend all their time, effort and equipment setup to achieve that aim.  However its possible it never pays off for them and they are worse off then the person who did a normal 9-5 job and kept the games and gambling to a personal level.
