So I thoght this could be of help for some that also in search so they will also be inspired .. maybe they could also ad stuff arround here that could be of help!

Research it takes a few days/weeks so if u're in this fase take your time.

1.Forum search about the coin;
2.Join the telegram group and try to interact with the members;
3.Try to make a post on the forum and also see the crowd sentiment;
4.See some data on coinmarketcap.com , : https://icodrops.com/ , https://icorating.com/
5.Watch this tool from investing.com - find here the explination: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2873063.msg29503403#msg29503403
**LATER EDIT:
6. Team - research moust of the members on linkedin and google , also the backers or advisors.

Doing this can be of help to get a sense of a really good buy... at least this is what  I do.

What are your thoughts ? How do you do it??

Cheers!

You did a good job to prevent blind buying any altcoin or maybe its good for ico.
Dont ever do blind trading because we can not fo further action if something happen with our trade because we have no research before. If we do research then we can prepare plan B

Yes, you are already in a right track in selecting altcoins and i am one of your vivid followers. They only thing is decision making when it comes to trading that's the big important today cause i know many of our fellow users and traders are making panic because of the down fall of price in a market.

This is should be a great help to the present and would be buyer/investor of any altcoin to prevent them from being scammed later. Researching the coin by its current price, market volume and the exchanges where the coin is listed will also help in your decision to buy. You should avoid buying a coin when nobody is talking about it because good project get a lot of discussions not only in the forum but in many online groups.

Those lost are helpful. Before buying an altcoin, try to further check the platform's whitepaper, business partners, members background, what are the future exchange market where it will be listed and always buy the dip or weakest point of an altcoin to assure your profit.

With regards to the subject, I would have to consider the four (4) basic considerations before you buy altcoins.
You need to know the launch date of the specific altcoin, next is to know the current price in the market, third is to know the market volume and lastly, you need to know the exchanges which have listed to this token. You should not consider or reject those altcoins that are using information only instead you should try to invest altcoins that covers most of the legible coins.

Aside from thorough research of the personalities behind every altcoins, seeing altcoins in coinmarketcap is a big help. Their you can see how coins have become in the past months. Join group members in telegram and other social medias so you will be personally guided by other members. Personal experience from others will also help you decide.

What are you doing ? You should see first for the price you want to buy if cheap or down you should buy it and if the price is still high should not. But keep in mind that you must have BTC or ETH if you want to buy.

Main rule in altcoin trading is don't buy at peak price and never sell on dip being panic as well as don't go with hype over chat rooms in exchangers.
You should have to do a deep research for the coin in which you want to invest and have to wait for it for a few weeks to monitor its volume of trade on exchanges and its potential after that try to invest there.
Seek advice from experienced cryptocurrency investors.
good advice and reasonable. but we also have to learn which alt which we will buy, at least a year back how the alt movement.
Yes thats a basic rule when trading an altcoin or before buying certain coin. We always tend to panic when price suddenly drops but that's a bad habbit when trading an altcoin. Always research, observe the flow in the market because this will always help you to decide.
Everyone knows that we should do research first before buying altcoin that we choose, maybe the next question is how to choose a potential altcoin whereas there are thousands of altcoin available? of course you will not do deep research on all existing altcoin because it will spend all your time right ? randomly choosing ?

You have a really good advice most especially to the ones who are trying to buy altcoin in some days in the future, but for me what will I add to your advices or list is that you really have to read their whitepaper or anything that you can read just to have information about the coin you want to invest with and by that you will be sure to your coins. You will not regret.

Thank you for your advice, this one is a great advice most especially to those who are planning to buy altcoins. Some said that when they are planning to buy an altcoin they really read the whitepaper of the altcoin they are planning to invest and by that you will see the plans and projects or platforms of every altcoin and by that you can trace whether the altcoin will be successful or not.

You also want to research the market the team is competing in. You can have an awesome team. That team can also have a great product. The white paper is professional and good road map, but the market or industry is not booming, therefore there no potential and those token or coins won't increase as much as you predict.

Yes we must have bitcoin or ethreum in order to buy altcoin once you have altcoins then we can use altcoin in exchange of other altcoins and it's not always about the price factor of buying at the less price and stepping back when high it's all about the value of coin in terms of features and technologies which are used.

Each altcoin has something special and unique, but for me very important the purpose of the company that offers its own cryptocurrency. Their advantage over others and feature.

Right. And additionally, it is a real excitement also to read more about the man, who created this coin. For instance, I have read this article with interest (about Vitalik Buterin):

The important thing to do if you will gonna buy an altcoin is to be able to determine if that altcoin has a practical use in our society and to our ever advancing technology which has a great impact to our daily lives so if you think it really is then maybe that altcoin will really have the chance to grow and survived in the crypto world because these are the kinds of crypto currency which will be often backed by established tech companies and most of all by many opportunistic investors which hope that their investments would grow also.

It is good information and advice for me as a newbie.
So, I can be more careful in trading. We know that there is nothing jobs without risk, such as trading and investment. However, once we think over and seeks information to prepare before doing something, such buying coin. The risk may be can be minimized and we wouldn't bu regret.

You will check the altcoin prices and altcoin information. It will change any time to process. It good opportunity for future growth and gather some business improvement. If need information for the altcoin check the market place and coindisk. Then you know which time to sell and buy the coin on thme.

This steps is good for searching altcoins for long term investment only. But often most of decisions you need to do quickly, without time to deep research. This is risky strategy but more profitable.
