Before any buy or investment i always research the market to understand the best points to enter and the good prices for buying coins, to be sure i will get profit on my actions
The market certainly need to research on this coin. Altcoins are not their air appeared. Accordingly, you need to carefully study the system they represent. If the company has a potential for development, then it is more attention paid to such an altcoin.

Very valid coins. People need to understand that right now there are a lot of altcoins out there that are just scams and have no intention of carrying out the project past where they would be making money to line their pockets so following these points that you have outlined to research the projects would be a good way to make sure that you do not fall for the scams

Go to official channel for the altcoin group. Ask for upcoming events.
Go to social media handle the check what is going on.
Review chart progress of that coin and lastly and foremost check the potential of the coin.

Most ideal path for purchasing an alt coin is explore about the coin apply your psyche for what to purchase and what not,low value purchasing is the best purchasing so you can offer at high cost and win benefit and stay in contact with the coin, again guidance don't be hustle think before you purchase.

I would read everything possible about the project and the scope of its work. Study the white paper and the road map.
These are quite useful documents.

I must say check the market volume. Not all altcoins are having continuous price increase for a long run. I do believe that market volume and popularity will determine whether a coin would be profitable or not investing your money with. If an altcoin is hav]ng high market volume then, there is a tendency that it will be profitable.

Before buying an asset, study at least the roadmap in order to understand when it will be possible to re-buy and earn on the fluctuations of the course.

Though Your points are good enough to select an altcoin to invest. But I like to invest in the top 100-300 coins according to Coinmarketcap rank. I think top 100-300 Coins are very safe from scamming! Like I am trading and holding LTC, XRP, ZIL, ICON, ETH, MTC, and some other altcoins and every coins are on the top 100 Coin and I feel very safe to hold and trade with these.

Research it takes a few days/weeks so if u're in this fase take your time.

1.Forum search about the coin;
2.Join the telegram group and try to interact with the members;
3.Try to make a post on the forum and also see the crowd sentiment;
4.See some data on coinmarketcap.com , : https://icodrops.com/ , https://icorating.com/
5.Watch this tool from investing.com - find here the explination: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2873063.msg29503403#msg29503403
**LATER EDIT:
6. Team - research moust of the members on linkedin and google , also the backers or advisors.

Doing this can be of help to get a sense of a really good buy... at least this is what  I do.

What are your thoughts ? How do you do it??

Cheers!

Before starting to invest my money in a particular project, I will definitely do some research. Including I will definitely study information about the project on this forum and on various independent sites. I also read the project documentation, information in thematic publications, assess the reputation of authors and developers.

A prerequisite before the start of investment in any project becomes its careful study. Including to conduct a thorough study of the project, determine the qualifications of developers, the benefits and relevance of the proposed ideas and technologies, the real prospects for further development.

Before you start investing in a specific project, you need to be sure of its potential for successful development in the future. To do this, it is imperative to examine information about the developers, technologies and development strategies. It is impossible to completely eliminate fraud, but at least it will be possible to reduce the risks for your investments.

When buying a coin, I always look at the fundamental basis of the project. I look at the price chart and select the entry point. Even if I enter the wrong way and go down, with minor drawbacks, I can sit in the coin until it recovers.

Another good idea is analyze images of ico web site and profiles pictures for plagiarism.
There is a plenty of fake ICOs around.
Pay attention to this fact.

MY suggestion is before buying an altcoin you must collect all information about the project and about the coin like coin's price and data of the project then it will easy to you for the selection of a altcoin.
