I'm not sure that holding altcoins is that dangerous. Most of alts are trading in pair with BTC or ETH only, so if BTC will gain value, alts will, too. This is too common answer, but this is the idea.

Definitely not. Why will it be dangerous hodling altcoins? Altcoins have way way more potentials if you will just study them well. Altcoins are not just coins, they are revolutionary ideas which could transform how we live in the future. It will because not all of the altcoins are having proper progress on its development. You can try to see that some coins were having so many problems with the development progress. Because not all of the altcoin has good daily trade volume and that will become more difficult to liquidate all of out token to the market. That's why significant token still becomes more preferable.

I do not believe holding coins will be dangerous at future.I think your holding coin is not effective such as namecoin,peercoin & ixcoin.I recommend you can holding best potential coin like as eth,waves,dent,ripple,nem,monero & omg etc.Hopefully this coin is best for long holding.

the most important thing that we do not trade or invest based on trend. we have to research carefully its project, its product. If everything is ok, you can buy them.

if you do not invest in altcoins, it is very difficult to get a big profit. you simply will not invest with ether. many investors enjoy early retirement thanks to the altcoins you think are dangerous

Its partly dependent on the team behind the coin. Plenty of those coins failed because of the bad/incompetent team behind it.

sometimes we have to take risks to make big profits dev, if you have a potential coin I do not think you should be afraid to hold it because it will greatly benefit you in the future. but if the coin you hold is less effective it would be better not to hold it for a long time.

It could be dangerous maybe IF they don't know what to do like, when to sell, until when to hold, forget to sell and those are just the factors that could be dangerous in a way that you will lose any of your investments if you are too careless to notice and watch your investments. It is required that every alt holders should have an explicit knowledge before investing.

I guess for me it is not dangerous to hold altcoins if it is came from bounty and airdrop. there will be a RISK in holding altcoins if you invest from it by buying more altcoins.

Last year alts rise a lot. I dont know the average percentage. But when I check coins in the market at year 2013 lots of them dead now (too low ranks). probably new tech coins won them (like peercoin, namecoin, ixcoin etc)

Also we are following new ICO s and most of us expecting too much gain from new coins which are not at the market. If our ICO expectations will happen, when they added to market, current market coins will go down. kind of paradox 

I think that it depends on the amount of money invested in these alts, if the money you have on them is no were high in compare with the money you hold for investments, can't see the danger.

XVG is a complete scam. Saying that it has "good development" and "sound technology" just makes it obvious that you have done zero research whatsoever. For now, it may become a dangerous thing to do. That is because the price of all Altcoins are depend on Bitcoin. If the price of Bitcoin go down, then the price of all crypto will go down as well. It is not a scam or whatsoever. But as you mention above, there are actually a scam Altcoin, and from the beginning we can see it, I guess. If you already have some Altcoins that you trust, you better hold until the price of Bitcoin go up again. But you can sell it after doing some research and found out that the some Altcoins you invest are scam. I believe you guys do not put all your eggs in one basket, so you can have some faith and hope for profit when you hold on to this situation.

It is dangerous if you really bought them with real money. Else, the risk is that the coin is dead and can't be traded anywhere.
It can also give you more profits if the value of the alt has increased.

nope then how do you get capital if you do not use real money dude? I think altcoin trading is risky because the price is very unstable/volatile and dangerous to hold because there are so many altcoins dead in a short time, you know that right ? so if you want to hold altcoin for long time. better look for altcoin that has a big community and keep growing like ETH, WAVES, XRP, Stellar.
