I have open buy orders on EUR book but when the Silk Road crash happened the price didn't move down as much so they did not get filled as much as I would have liked.

So come on btc sellers put up some coins there. If price moves down you will likely be able to sell for a better price than on bitstamp.

I think we really need another exchange just for counterparty risk. Having all your fiat/coins in bitstamp orderbook is unsafe. BTC24 comes to mind.

You guys need to persuade some investor to put down a large buy order. I'm pretty sure sellers will flock to meet the demand. And/or try the vice versa. Smiley

You need something like this to get the party started. Put down some of your money even as alternative to jumpstart things a bit and generate some volume.

I made my first trade of EUR-->XBT on Kraken today.  Really good experience.

I live in Europe and verification up to Tier 3 was easy and quick.  Deposited Euro by SEPA which took 2 days.  Made the trade by hitting an ask that was reasonable (about 5% below Gox), and painlessly transferred the coins out.  I'll be doing more trading here.  Hope others do the same to increase liquidity!

Does anyone know when the partnership with the German Fidor bank is complete? For those of us in Europe it should allow for quicker SEPA transfers (I would imagine).

Suddenly trade volume is up from avg of say 5 btc to 50 btc past 24h, while nothing remarkably is added to the order book. Looks like someone trying to boost the volume in a fake way?

I didn't have that close a look, but if market orders are used, they will not show in the order book.

Kraken told me 3 weeks or so to be active with Fidor.
Bitcoin.de is still not ready with them but getting closer.

Definitely HUGE for Europe. I mean would you rather have a Slovenian Bank (Bitstamp) or German?
Stamp should team with Fidor, really.

Did some trading yesterday on Kraken. Need to say that I sold 5btc preaty quick at price 94€ - at the same time price on bitstamp was around 125$. I think i could get even more, but ok... I wanted to test them. Now I'm waiting for my SEPA withdraw which I did yesterday at 6pm. I hope I will see my founds on account tomorow in the morning.
Can say that I wil do some more traiding there if the SEPA withdraws will be within 2 days. And I really like low fees!!

You guys really need to do something about volume. As someone said... put some of your money in the trading Wink

Yep, the problem here is if you want to sell +100BTC. IMO the best thing to do now is to wire a few hundred $$$, place very low limit orders, and see if a distracted trader pushes "market sell" with a big enough stash to have those extra low limit orders filled.

It won't be the first time it happened in a super-low volume exchange... Cheesy

Nevertheless, the Kraken platform is THE REAL DEAL, finally we have something serious in the BTC ecosystem, and I'm really pleased to see that they are trying to comply with regulation in ALL the territories they are trying to serve, that's a huge step forward.

Good job Kraken team, full support and godspeed!

Cool, I did not know that kraken.com was the "leading platform for
trading digital assets", as stated in yesterdays' press release  Wink

Are users from Germany now eligible to be verified due to the Fidor
cooperation? If not, when will this be the case (please underpromise).

Minor bug: Fedora 18, Google Chrome: The "select" button on the BTC deposit page does indeed select the address, however when I right click on the highlighted area there is no "copy" option (as soon as the right click happens, the highlight disappears). If I highlighted manually there is a "copy" option. Additionally, I have seen other websites that offer similar functionality as your "select" button, but they not only select the info, they also move it to the clipboard automatically. That would be the most convenient solution, IMHO. If clipboard security is a concern, maybe overwrite the clipboard with some random or empty data after x seconds.

Edit: Additionally: It seems only 4   5 decimals are supported when depositing XBT?

The default on all orders is "limit". To get a 5% "discount" they would have to sell ~7 XBT currently to fill that low. In my book that wouldn't be a "distracted" trader. Other descriptive words come to mind though.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll respond to some of the specific comments as soon as I can.

Bitcoin (and other digital currencies such as Ripple) had a huge presence this year at Money 2020 and my impression is that it was *the* hot topic of the conference. There are still plenty of skeptics of course, but interest is really brewing.

For us, the networking was incredibly fruitful and will hopefully lead to some powerful partnerships down the road.

Hi Dargo,
Is there any place where we can look to see where you've completed the regulatory steps need to offer services in specific areas?

We don't publish this (one reason being that it would make it easier to try to circumvent our regulatory controls), but you can send us a support ticket and tell us what country you live in (and what state for US) and we'll tell you what services we offer in your area.

You can also find out by creating a basic account - you get an email after you do the email confirmation part that tells you what services we offer in your area.

If you initiated it prior to early afternoon (say 2-3 pm), then there's a good chance it'll clear next business day. At least, Fidor has told us they can usually do SEPA next business day as long as it is initiated early enough.

I think they forgot to add, "This press release may contain some forward-looking statements."  Wink

@Dargo:
When will (Fidor-) users in Germany be eligible to be verified on kraken.com?

Any German user is of course eligible to get pre-verified by going through our verification process regardless of whether they use Fidor or not.

Will users who've been verified with Fidor be able to verify "automatically" with Kraken because of the partnership? I doubt it, but I'll check on this.

Does the partnership mean that we are now ready to offer our services to residents of Germany? Unfortunately, no - we are still in the process of completing regulatory requirements in Germany and it's going to be at least a few more weeks yet before before we can offer services of any kind in Germany (and possibly a few more months). The issues we're up against in Germany are special regulations governing exchanges. So for now German users can only create an account on Kraken and get pre-verified so they're ready to go as soon as we are. Getting operational in Germany is a top priority for us and we're doing everything we can to make it happen as quickly as possible.
