For me, a balanced portfolio for long-term investments would be BTC 40%, ETH 30%, XRP 10% and 20% for XMR, Neo, LTC.

Nice to hear some people that ask for some long term investments. The most people are here for short term and I dont know why. You can make better profits if you pick some GEMs for long term. My long term invests: Neufund, Modum, Ethereum and Valid right now. My biggest holding is Bitcoin.

At present, most of the cryptocurrencies have been down, so you have got plenty of options. You can invest in Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Ripple and Perl. It would be profitable for you in the long run.

Buy Bitcoin  Grin
However you can also wait till the end of Chinese New Year - the price can go down.
Also consider: ETH, NEO, QTUM, ETC  --> some infrastructure projects, that can run ICO.
ETC should be good to go before the airdrop.

Good luck

In such difficult time I think, all secondary cryptocurrency's prices are under bitcoins price. You may on graphs and you will see it.
But there is another tendention - bitcoins capitalization reduses on the backgroung of general capitalization of cryptomarket. It means share of bitcoin should be smaler. Best cryptos are RPL, NEO, ETH

If really long term hold like 2-3 years buy some BTC, ETH, NEO, OMG and ICX, and for atleast 1-2 months hold then you want to take profit buy some ETC, ZEC and TELCOIN. You can do your own search first before buying so you can minimize your losses and you will not panic sell at the end if the market goes down. Goodluck.

just my opinion but i say a coin that is supposed to be good in long term is a coin that has some actual usage in real world because as a cryptocurrency they all have the crypto part right and most of them are copying it anyways. so now they have to fulfill the currency part. and unless they can do it or try to do it, i don't consider them as good long term investments.

with this definition only bitcoin is a viable option and some other smaller altcoins that are trying to do the same can enter the category although they may not have done it yet. coins like Byteball and IOTA come to mind specially Byteball with all the merchant incentives they are doing.

I agree with your first statement , a coin that should be an actual usage. Well if you have heard about VLB; they have this realistic project (car industry) vehicle lifecycle blockchain, the whole wide world is using car and the Vlb tokens will be use as utility token.

Well I don't want to spoil your appetite, just check their website and reading the white paper for more clarifications for a real project good for LONG TERM INVESTMENT. here is the link of their site https://vlb.io
And this link to the Ann thread. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2863598.40 that thread is for inquirers.

remember that when your holding an altcoin you are still bound to the price of bitcoin, it can work against you or for you.

if bitcoin goes way up when your holding an altcoin thats still very good for you, this is why people should try to trade their bitcoin against alts to try and make more bitcoin.

FCT is a good long term hold in my opinion, so are masternode coins like dash, bitsend, diamond, ect ect

DYOR, good luck

I invest only in well-studied projects, one of them is SOCIALMEDIA. MARKET. Socialmedia.market is the decentralized ecosystem to discover, create, perform and analyze advertising campaigns with social media influencers across any social network

Typically, your Bitcoin and Ethereum.

However, I think NEO looks very prosperous.

I recommend that you also invest into some cheaper coins;

take that with a grain of salt, coins that have been released recently that have decent grounding that you can buy a number of without splitting your bank account in half that in a few years you'll forget about but have significantly increased in value. Maybe ones from an ICO that have promising teams and milestones.

With that in mind, be careful out there and don't loan. Smiley

Hope I could help in some way,

Any ideas what to buy now and keep for longer?

I will increase my money on Ethereum,Monero,Ripple,Waves and litecoin for my future. The price of this altcoin is very low as compared to bitcoin. So I can buy huge of this altcoin as compared to  the bitcoin.
In next year, the price of this altcoin will reach more than 2000$,so the investors will get more profit.
This is the reason for me to choose of my future.

BTC, ETH, Neo, Lisk, ADA, Eos, stellar... all of them should do very well if you buy now and sell in a year. Or even better if you sell in 2 years... and so on..
In the meantime get into some ICOs or buy small caps on a dip in order to multiply and increase your main bags..

BTC of course, it'll be like digital gold in the future (it will be more an asset than a coin in my opinion), ETH has a great future with smart contracts, NEO, and I'd also recommend DeepOnion, it's still a wagon easy to get in as it hasn't taken off yet. Of course, just my 20 cents.
