Instead of escrow, why not use multisignature? Its easy to do on blockchain.info:
https://blockchain.info/wallet/escrow

No risk of the escrow party running off with the money, losing his laptop or getting killed in a carcrash. You just need an independent third party to sign, and if all goes well, he doesnt have to do anything.

That´s actually nice way to do escrow.

So BlackArrow does not need the money from the orders to pay for NRE and the first run?   Because escrow holds the money (or the coins) and does not release until final ship/receipt.    It would also create a lot of BTC exchange risk for the manufacturer since their costs are in $ and the escrow funds in BTC would flucuate each day (I know, BTC only go up).

We can certainly do that. But what happens if the Bitcoin goes down by the time we can cash it out?

I also do not see the reasons to offer a discount for these transactions.

The way that we see it, our customers who have placed non-escrow pre-orders are our investors, hence it is our duty to do our best to maximize their revenues. They will receive discounts and price guarantees.

Escrow transactions where we cannot use the funds to pay the foundry and engineers, are just ... sales that require more of our investment.

We manufacture Bitcoin ASICs and Bitcoin mining equipment.

You are screwed then. Or you get lucky if it goes up. Either way, that is no different than with other bitcoin escrow services, using multisig just eliminates the risk (and potentially, cost) of using an escrow agent.

If you would like escrow transactions that are protected against BTC price swings, thats something you should talk about with bitpay. It could be an interesting service for them, but Im not aware of them offering that yet.

Pre-ordering can be used as a way to run an arbitrage scam where someone takes Bitcoins, claim to be developing a product, then after the Bitcoins rise in value, cancel the project and refund in dollars, pocketing the difference.

If you won't take escrow, credit cards, or paypal it's gonna smell like a scam to many people.  Roll Eyes

So Black Arrow is only accepting Bitcoin for payment?

Recommended Exchanges: Binance.com | CelsiusNetwork

For anyone who has a V1 BlackArrow Bitfury board

Thanks for this Kano.

May I ask how is this related to our 28nm ASIC?

On that same note, when I configure cgminer 3.8.1 with --enable-bab, the config summary reports:

BlackArrow.ASICs.....: Enabled

May I suggest this be renamed "BlackArrow.BitFury.boards" or something similar?

This model of chip-maker + integrator makes things confusing sometimes.

The thread title says $1.49/Ghash yet the Prospero X-1 (100Ghash/second) is listed for $290.50.

Sometimes that search function does indeed work:

where are the 1.49/ghash units?

1.49/ghash is the ASIC purchased in large quantities.

On the other hand that might be old information .. Now I don't see it on the web site either (and I remember seeing something like 10'000 chips at $149/chip or something like that)

sorry BFL refugee will stick with KNC they still take paypal and direct cc etc unless I'm wrong only ones that still take paypal or cc direct as well (correct me if I'm wrong)

although they may just sit out this madness and their next gen run is prob march 2014

as nuts as it is gonna be in the next 6 months (ie china etc).. a person would prob be better off buing/selling on the panic/rush in that time frame

anyway cc is the only way to go otherwise they can be like BFL promise the moon and deliver a year late and still keep your $$$

I think it's best to wait till February 2014 till they are on the shelf and just walk in the store buy over the counter.

I'll be in Shenzhen end of Feb and buy one then if this pans out as Black Arrow describes.
