Actually, OP wrote this post in early 2018, and that later began a real wave of scams and fails of ICO projects. However, I think that throughout 2018, people learn, that it is not responsible to give money to a stranger just because he promise us something. Before investing money, we need to find out who it is and whether it is worth our trust. So I think real ICOs still have a chance to succeed.

This "ICO" phenomenon is overhyped. This creates a lot of speculations that drive people crazy. People just buy and sell without researching and leads to their downfall. I hope you'll find another area in which you can succeed.

Perhaps, telling a good things to their community or hyping them will always be a part of it or their strategy to get more investors to their project as well. So even no matter how much the situation is bad in ICO industry if you believe in it wholeheartedly , for sure in your heart you will never quit on it. Though, you have your point in that but still the decision finals will be at your hands pal.

It's a call call from the OP I guess because as early Feb he already smells what's going on he gave the community a fair warning so it's really up to us to follow his/her advise or not. But if guys would have seen in as well specially about a lot of scam projects and ICO suddenly disappear, it make sense to not invest at all and wait till the market normalised before slowly investing on any projects.

actually, it doesn't matter if there is a bear market, because that is still a natural thing. why many people quit the ICO, because many ICOs became scams. well, i also had time to take part in several projects. frankly, after a very good achievement in 2017, ICO has become more difficult in 2018.

actually, it doesn't matter if there is a bear market, because that is still a natural thing. why many people quit the ICO, because many ICOs became scams. well, i also had time to take part in several projects. frankly, after a very good achievement in 2017, ICO has become more difficult in 2018.

Just like that happen to bitcoin and the altcoins, after making ATH in 2017, they are down at even 70,80, or 90%, that's a significant losses and that makes the market drop, especially the ICO because people are afraid to put their money. The solution to this is when the market will be back up again, in short, ICO will remain as long as people are still here to invest, it's just a matter of time.

They quit, we understands that!
But quitting does not mean they will not come back, I'm sure they'll be more optimistic the next time they come back, but we need this market to rise again.

Scams in the ICO caused a sense of disappointment from investors or bounty hunters, so many stopped or diverted to other options such as crypto trading.
There are still many opportunities, but patience and luck are the determining factors because prices are still unstable and there are still many negative news circulating.

There are some ICOs that are really profitable especially with the team that are really hardworking for the success of their project and has good terms of the project as well. Lately, ICOs are being targeted by scammers and used them as a milking cow to gather funds for the fake projects and run away. So that is why many investors had lost their fate on ICO projects during last year.

Interesting point of view.
I'm on exactly opposite end - I'm going deeper with ICO's this year.

Your points are pretty valid, but this mean you just need to be more peaky where you are investing. And I'm always and only buying during the pre-ico phase, avoiding those ICO's with massive pre-sale.

Of course, now in my own opinion I don't think that this is valid enough for me to quit on ICOs, there are ICOs that are reliable out there, you really just have to be picky on finding the ICO that will fit you and your standards, and I don't think that the ICO would adjust onto you, you will be the one that will have to adjust on making your investments, I hope that after what you have said and what the community has responded to you would make your mind up and go back to investing in ICOs.

ICO were good at one time but these days it is very hard to find a good ICO. May be one out of 100 ICO is good and rest are all scam or  made with the purpose of collecting money and do not focus on any coin development.

hence from that, there are now many investors who are less interested in investing in the ICO because of the many good ICOs, only a few percent are scam because they don't want to develop their coins.

OP was written almost a year ago, now this whole ICO situation is even worse.
Pre 2017 there where few, just a few chances for a good project to be funded through crowd sale.
Most failed miserably, it's hard for me to watch all those ico topics of today. Milking a dead cow, if you ask me.
Sure, some newbies may catch the bait of easy profits but nobody serious, in their right mind will go fo that any more.
In my opinion ICO's always were scammy in nature and always will be. Besides smart contracts ruined this part of crypto even more.
It's just to damn easy, average Joe can make a landing site with flashy, fat promises and start crowd selling crap.
Sooner people realise this, the better for us all. Over saturation of altcoins market hides all the scams but eventually community will mature and those hypes will be over or so I hope.

We don't know about hard cap or not reached by ICO project investment, look last month many ICO have success with hard cap target but why never listing their asset at exchange market, why is happen at ICO investment project for this year.

right, they seemed to only collect money from investors, then go from responsibility. and that is what worsens the image of ico at this time. although not all ico like that, but the current conditions make many investors disappointed
