All I can say, everything inside that article is just a speculation, because all those new players, no one of them has finale product that has been tested in real world, not in theory.

The title itself says "may" lose, and that is very vague of course. There "may" also be a coin that supersedes Bitcoin right?

Yes, there is still no assurance but can still have the possibility. We cannot tell what will happen in the future so all coins may have the opportunity to beat each other and become number one. Who knows.
