Great. Updated the client now all my nickels are gone.
Did you delete your wallet.dat?! The only coins you should lose would be those that were minned then rolled back. But that was happening old or new. I have upgraded many computers and not lost any coins. Wallet.dat was backuped, the coins in it (65) were mined the past few days indeed. Bad luck I guess, shit happens.

I will send you the missing 65. Yes right now mining is risky with the block chain roll backs. As soon as all old peers are kicked off (Nov 4th) I will begin issuing checkpoints, this with the new code shoud stop the roll backs. Thanks!

Good thoughts! Actually I think there are some btc blockchain torrents out there as well to speed up the process.
As of right now you do NOT have to re-download. However if you get caught on the wrong side of the chain because you upgrade late, then you would have to.
The client should be able to heuristically determine if it is stuck on the wrong chain. I assume this is the purpose of checkpoints and network vetoes. Even if I were late to upgrade, the client should still be able to understand this "bad state" based on the heuristic. Thus, even if I have been on the wrong chain for awhile and then upgrade, fixing it should be a matter of traversing the chain backwards until I am at a last "known" good height (probably before the fork/at a checkpoint), delete all block data of a greater height, and start redownloading the good chain block data at that point. Another thought is that you should provided signed "deltas" that would be distributed through the network and whose public key would be embedded in the client. Such a delta could contain new checkpoints, changes to the coin spec, software update/important messages, or even provide bad chain detection information. This way, from that point on, even being stuck with an outdated client won't be detrimental to the end user and they can update when it is best for them.

Well, the blockchain is still downloading (over 24 hrs now) so mining is out of the question. Thanks for the warning though. I'll wait till Nov 4th. Refunding the coins is very generous from you. My address = Er5bYTfVFZENvTH9Ff4854X4oCB9Vb2nSt Thanks. Edit : Nevermind, Just checked wallet is synced and all my coins are back. Not only the 65 missing, but I now have a confirmed 140 mined coins. Some strange voodoo going on...

Hey everyone. Sorry to do this to you. But I was doing a code review with another person and we found an issue with 1.2.1.3. With the fix to the int64 to cbignum the reward would've started giving 1000% percent interest! YIKES! It could've been another CENTS. We have caught it in time but now I need your help to make sure we are all on the same chain come Nov 4 23:00 GMT. Less then 40 hours from now! So please upgrade right away! Here are the links. I am sending out alerts and PMs to all who have been in this thread. Please start client with -reservebalance=999999 until further notice. Current Client Found Here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303749.msg3251165#msg3251165Edit: If you are seeing this for the first time after Nov 4th, you need to do the following: 1) Stop your client 2) Remove the following 3 files from your %appdata%/HoboNickels Directory ( blk0001.dat, blkindex.dat and database directory) 3) Start client with -salvagewallet 4) Wait for client to sync. If you mined or staked after Nov 4th 23:00 GMT those coins will be no good. All coins had before that time are safe and should show up after you are sync'd. Thanks.

Yes please put on reserve until after we get past the cutoff time Nov 4 23:00 GMT I will begin issuing auto checkpoints. Soon after I confirm they and some test stake are working I will put the word out to release the hounds Thanks for the quick update!

Rejects or orphans? Orphans are still high right now. Once we all get on 1.2.1.4, and the auto checkpoints start that should go down considerably

Successfully solo-mined several pow-blocks after update to v1.2.1.4, seems normal so far.
Aaand while I was writing this post, about half of them got orphaned) Several successfull blocks are still confirmed with about 30-40 confirms.

Yes, shutdown/restart may fix it, if not -salvagewallet has worked for me. It is orphaned records trying to find a home
