At 6.12G difficulty, is the Chili miner still making money on electricity, at say $0.13 / kWhr?
Yeah, it won't be until after 10B that you might want to tune it down. I should post up another FW here that limits the voltage to ~1V to get the power consumption down to the 130W range at the expense of a few GH/s. It's probably actually more profitable, and would extend profitability (@$450) for $0.13/kWh out to about 18B. I'll do that tonight for you guys.

Shorting the middle pins just resets the MCU. The four LED code indicates that the main 1V power supply for the ASICs has had a failure or an issue turning on. When you say it would eventually go sick and go dead, how long is eventually?
It would mine for about 15 minutes then go sick. Another 10-15 minutes later it would go dead. And thanks for the response.

HW error rates also look pretty nice, at 0.1% I've updated the second post.

Thanks Mr. Teal. I'm about to start bringing down the speed of my 60gh Singles, probably in the next month or two. By shorting out the trimmer capacitors on the fluctuation line I have found that I can drop the voltage to the chips from 1.018 down to about .9 or so. Which will cause a Single to fail at speed 7 but will allow hashing at about 45gh at speed 1. The difference in power and heat though is very. very. substantial, should allow a few months more mining.

By the way I tried loading the lower power hex file on my Chili this afternoon. I also have P3 meters so I can measure power draw, and a 500 watt Corsair supply to dedicate to it.
With the old code, it took 5 minutes to come up to speed, ran at 36gh, and pulled 240 watts at a frequency base of 303. FIRMWARE: 1.2.14e THEORETICAL MAX: 36.36 GH/s ENGINES: 120
After flash FIRMWARE: 1.2.14x THEORETICAL MAX: 31.27 GH/s ENGINES: 126
Holds about 31gh, but with only 137 watts. 4.4w per gh
So the unit went from 6.6w/gh to 4.4w/gh and the cost of that extra 5gh was literally 100 watts. Big difference, it's still high compared to a BFL Single (50gh for 190 watts is 3.8w/gh) but a whole lot better.
If you have chilis I would recommend this firmware change. Now to work harder on lowering the voltage on BFL singles to .85v or so.
Chris
Edit: Note this does include the water cooling block and pumps and fan and such. Runs way way cooler too, 55c which is cooler than a 7 chip jally running a sedion small water block and a bit warmer than an 8 chip jalapeno running a Corsiar H100 large radiator block.

I have chilli from Marto, and it used to crash with original firmware, flashed it with 1.1V and works like a charm, I'll try the new firmware in a couple of days and let you know.

Hi, I have 2 chilis - one from Marto and one that is either from Lucko or MrTeal (I'm not complety sure-it is a dark green pcb with "The Chili Rev 2.1" written on the the upper left side). I flashed the Marto's board with the 1.0v firmware. It went super - everything works way better. But then I flashed the other board - 2-3 sec. after the power cycle the LEDs 5,6,7,8 stay constantly on, 1 and 3 blink synchronously with rate about 2 times in 1 second, LED 2,4 stay off. What should I do? The board worked 3 months wihout any problems. But now it is like dead, windows doesn't find it.
P.S. After a whole day of testing (multiple restarts and waiting together with some heating through a hair dryer) the unit started, the leds went off and windows found the device. Aftert a short moment of joy I discovered that only 4 engines are working - the others are missing. I reflashed again with the same 1.0v FW - but again - the same happened. Next time I have the unit working Im gonna return to the previous fw.
P.S.2 Well. After another day of testing I realised that I can not return the previous FW. I'm stuck with 4 engines now.

I have 2 of Lucko's boards running - AFAIK, none of Lucko's boards have the Chili branding on them - the 2 I have are just blank pcbs (assume they're the same as the rest)...

Does the board have a rectangular white sticker on it that says something like AMSXXXX WO#DMXXXX-XXXX REV:2.1 If so, it's one of ours. If not, it's one of the ones made by Lucko. I would say it's likely that it's likely that it is one of the Lucko boards if you needed to take a hairdryer to it. Can you describe what you mean by you can't return to the previous FW? Does the flashing not work?

Mine has this sticker and is working with the 1.0V fw -> around 30GH i.e. 2-3GH and 30W less, and very low HW bfgminer version 3.8.1 - Started: [2014-03-31 14:33:42] - [ 0 days 00:19:15] [M]anage devices [P]ool management [S]ettings [D]isplay options [H]elp [Q]uit Connected to uk1.ghash.io diff 32 with stratum as user 2GOOD.chili Block: ...bb0612d3 #297466 Diff:6.98G (49.96Ph/s) Started: [13:42:44] ST:9 F:0 NB:4 AS:0 BW:[ 43/ 28 B/s] E:197.04 I:89.11uBTC/hr BS:9.36k 1 55.0C | 31.58/30.70/30.67Gh/s | A:247 R:0+0(none) HW:3/.04% -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- BFL 0: 55.0C | 30.67/30.67/30.68Gh/s | A:249 R:0+0(none) HW:3/.04%
And temperature is lower too, it used to be around 68-70C with the 1.1V fw

The other 99% just stay gray. I tried it multiple times. Even with a hairdryer before the process. Im stuck with only 4 engines now. At least it is stable now. It makes no sense to mine with these boards now. In the next diff. increase they will be making only enough profit to pay for the power.

Hi
Please someone help me . I bought two used chili and was very happy, all worked perfectly. After half day one of them stopped, and then the another too. I thought the power supply not enough, and I bought a bigger one.(Thermaltake TR2 700W). Now they did not work. I started cgminer 4.3 first wrote speed is 120 GH/s-360 GH/s but not worked. After it wrote "zombie" after "invalid engine". Have you any ideas? What can I do?Apparently both of chili lost control. The chips do not work. One of them fan slowed. The led lights are flashes long time etc. Do you know who can fix them ? Maybe could be reinstall.
Thank you so much.

They both stopped within half a day of you buying them? That's a little odd. PM me the details on where you got them, and then any more details on the installation.

Hi,
I have to tell you am absolutely beginner. I feel that I did something wrong with the Chili. First I connected two Chili with power supply LEPA 500W ATX 12V native PSU (N500-sa) They started work and everything was perfect. About half day later one of them stopped. Then I found out that each of them works separately only. I tried put them together lot of times in different ways. After one of them stopped and not started again. Another Chili worked nicely. I figured out maybe they need a bigger power supply, because LEPA was very hot . I bought Thermaltake TR2 700W Cable Manegement Opt. TR-700 . I connected two Chili with new power supply and usb ect. Then I tried start but the Chilis leds ( 1, 3, 5,6,7,8) were flashing just . Then I updated the firmware but nothing. So ,please, help!!
