For me I think its important to have at least an alpha or beta but a lot of the time ICO's normally do well on a promise and no working product.

I think for now it does require a product in a project.
because of the product that we can get additional trust from an investor in a project that hold ico and make altcoin.

In my opinion the project without product is very foolish idea. No one on earth will develop a project without some kinds of idea in hands or in the future. Products is the main introduction of one ico, without it the project will surely end easily because there is no product or it is not proven how the people believe so.

A product offered on ICO is very important because it can make a person's perspective change, if the offered product is attractive and the presented whitepaper has clarity so everyone will not hesitate to invest in an ICO project. but let's see if the project does not offer anything interesting in their product then certainly they lose a lot of investors and the loss will be the end result. So the product becomes a thing that should be designed very well, the project should be able to give confidence that the project will experience success. Many ICOs do not have a ready-made project. They only have an idea. It seems to me that this is the main problem. On paper, you can draw anything you want. Even space ships on photonic engines. It is very important in the current space we are, the level of scam projects are on the rise and to see if the team has the capacity to deliver on what they promised, even you can see most of the recent ICOs are showing a prototype for the platfrom, the quality of the team is Okay but knowing they can deliver on this is more important

Product is not that important as 99 times out of 100 people do not do proper research. They mostly follow hypes: see "what coin to buy" questions on this forum.
Not sure where your answer is coming from but, if those 99 people will do proper research, where are they going to base their decision to buy the token? The people behind it? The white paper that doesn't say anything about a product? Even if you have the greatest minds behind a project but there is no product what are they going to tell the people to buy the token if they have no product. Even if they don't have the product but they have the idea on their project, you can consider that as a product. Just my opinion. |

not all projects require products I think this is applied to a project formed in a ico taken from a product
such as bananacoin. (BCO)
and projects like REAL EASTAT do not need the product.

a working product is part that will attract more investor interested to invest in ICO project, so that really is something important for the succesfull of ICO, since trust of a custumers is important. you don't want to invest for something that you don't know it will exist or not in the future right?
many ICO project doesn't have MVP and in many case they don't even have a working product and only with idea on their whitepaper and roadmap.

Yes and PundiX is also one of the examples.
A product is the best to tell that the company is running and also good service.
If they are scammers, then they dont need waste money just so the people will see the product. They wont do that, they just run away and let it be.
Goals should be met and even if the value of the coin of one Post-ICO goes down, it doesn't mean it is the end but yet a good chance to buy a lot of it.
It will be harder to trust those who will just use the blockchain technology only. Better with something else.
