I wonder why Etherium has been stagnant over the past few weeks without any significant rise in price. It became stable which is good. However, it dropped two fold since its maximum achieved in the end of January 2018 when the Bitcoin and majority of altcoins were slumping. I have seen many posts ans articles about the Etherium overpassing Bitcoin this year, but it seems not much to be the case as of now...

ICO investment profitability decreased -> demand for ETH decreased (less willing to invest in ICO) -> price decreased

also because there are a lot of dumps going on, people are panic selling, the whales are exiting to better investments and ICO scammers are pulling out.

at the same time newbie investors are buying and panicking at the same time which is keeping the price up in an stagnant status.

I think the main reason is the bubble of crypto market, almost all the coins dropped more than 50% compared to the highest price on January. There is another important reason, some ICO dev team are selling their ETH raised a few months ago.

Because of the beatish market ethereum is also affected then ico today are low and altcoins is downtrend. Now ico is to slow now and some altcoins are pump and dump. Market is bearish due to some govt regulations issues now let see for couple of months but I am hoping that this will not last.

Best answer. By the way do you think that if the people would create a much better ICOs that may lead to the price growing for Ethereum?

As BTC still ruling the market so all coins including ETH follow it. We need a really good news for ETH so that it can grow despite the general decreasing trend.

I don't know the main reason but I think it is because of bubble in the cryptocurrency market and the panic selling of the people who had there investments on the ethereum. But I hope in the next few days Ethereum's value will increase so my loss will be replaceable with profit.  Smiley

Now the whole market is in suspense. The ethereum is no exception. However, I believe that soon the market will rise again soon: a lot of ICOs, the emergence of new investors in the market (institutional) and etc

it takes a long time for eth itself to rise or fall, because it is kind of long-term investment.
besabar course, will be up in time alone.

The price of the Etherium should not be high. This is not a necessity for the functioning of the infrastructure. To date, Ether is overrated. It's too early cost to it.

It's hard time for this market and this is not just about ETH, all the tokens fell in price on the background of the news that was a few days ago. I think gradually the market will grow and all the tokens will go up in price

When it comes to ranking in the market Ethereum is the second leading one, in demand to be consider, the stagnant word is not related to your statement, Stagnant never flows no will to make it go. as we are going to evaluate its price it has a lot of consumer which are the investor, because most Project demands ethereum as an investment, However, Leading crypto (Bitcoin) is affected, Red days to be consider.

Furthermore, there are several articles about,Which could be greater in power of stability, Eth or BTC, But I'm not fond of comparing so that i Value every cryptos I HOLD, that is why i'm not too affected when the price goes down or up, it's normal, (VOLATILITY).

Whole market is in red zone and ethereum is not a exception. Market in the hands of bears and they are trying to drop it more but now bulls are also trying to catch the market and it is slowly recovering. All coins are down due to bulls and bears fight and finally bull will win in the end.

I doubt it would overpass bitcoin BUT it can come close, if so, then this is the time for ethereum to moon when btc is down. This just purely shows that bitcoin is the king and every coins/tokens are just following bitcoin's footsteps.

The majority of markets have known if the real reason behind the ethereum is the icos are dumping their amount raised from the public sale to the market. That makes the majority of whales are still accumulating cheap ethereum before they will try to pump it as soon as possible. The mtgox trustee has made a clarification and that was pushing the price of bitcoin was getting increasingly more than ethereum.

Ethereum's drop in price over the last couple of months is due to the whole market moving down. It doesn't really say anything about the merits of Ethereum itself.
I would say just be patient, Ethereum will rise again as will the rest of the market.

One more thing - you are right that a lot of people do think that Ethereum might pass Bitcoin, but this is obviously in terms of market cap, not individual coin price. It is very unlikely that 1 ETH will ever be worth more than 1 BTC.
