Former Manchester United and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen is launching a cryptocurrency in his own name, joining other famous sportsmen including Manny Pacquiao in a new venture to connect with fans.

The retired England star announced Wednesday his investment in the Singapore-based Global Crypto Offering Exchange (GCOX) as he unveiled the “Owen Coin”.

Could this be a booster to cryptocurrency because these celebrities have big influence world wide and could invariably canvass more support for cryptocurrency.
That can definitely affect the cryptocurrency market. The advertisements have a great impact on the audience especially if it is given by some famous celebrity. Obviously people become interested in listening to such ad. This might not increase adoption greatly but will surely give a boost to the adoption of the market. Nonetheless it can increase the awareness about cryptocurrencies.
Actually this is just because of the promotion that people are making for bitcoin. Some times when most of the people talk good about bitcoin everywhere then there are good news coming into the market. This increase the rate of bitcoin because supply become short and demand gets increased. So talk good about it and this will be a super contribution from your side.

I think there is no effect on crypto. they just want to be more popular. different story if the join or who launched the currency is a big company. and they use crypto as payment. may be very influential to the value of crypto.

This will have an impact on the demand for crypto currency. especially those who are fans are sure to be interested in it here and it can be a way to get more familiar with the crypto. Certainly in the years to come, there will be more interest in the crypto currency and this will make it easier for the crypto currency to grow.

I believe that their first reason is to ensure a coin is to get more involved in medias but for an investor it will be a beat or win situation when many people get more lots of interest and a market cap really increase it.

May have some benefit, to bring cryptocurrencies to mainstream, but would not like to live in a world, when every celebrity have their own token Cheesy I think it was not the original purpose of cryptocurrencies.

No doubt it will definitely have some trickling down effect on the acceptability and awareness about bitcoin but as for a celebrity creating a coin with His name as Micheal Owen intends that i do not fancy.

this is good news for cryptocurrency because with more and more celebrities supporting crypto indirectly it is a promotion for crypto itself. and I am more confident that this support could be an investment to crypto would be more beneficial for many parties especially for the celebrity itself and the community of holders of the crypto

I think increasing number of celebrity is a good sign. And it is really the start of the crypto will maybe rise. Because if these was real maybe there are so many investors that is becoming more interested, and invest into it and maybe the volume will start rising same with the price. Crypto is amazing it will maybe become the future of money in the modern world.

It was good news that celebrities are actually endorsing cryptocurrency which means that there will be a better future for bitcoins and altcoins since every people are not trusting crypto in the market.

Even if you are a celebrity, still nothing can be in your favor unless you don’t have a strong mindset and effort in the field. There are many celebrities who bought bitcoin and people followed them but then they haven’t got good results. Bitcoin don’t give a shit about your personality and your influence in people. But yes, it must get a best thing and that is effort only.

Well publicity is publicity, to be endorsed by a celebrity who is influential and has a platform that can reach more people, it is going to be good for the crypto currency and the community. It will be a great help so that more people all around the world will know what is crypto and we might gain more users and investors.

That is always good publicity. Celebrities though they rot people's brains and they have no talent whatsoever could actually lead a number of sheep that is their fans to join in on crypto currency and hopefully they could make something of themselves and better themselves.

That would make a very good image for bitcoin. Celebrities and bitcoin would mean that bitcoin is reliable and credible.

it's a pretty good marketing strategy because celebrities are public figures that are always being picked up by fans, so when a celebrity attack uses crypto currency it will be followed by his fans, imagine if the celebrity is very famous and has many fans

Indeed, most celebrities have many follower and if that celebrities for example tweeting about their crypto, their follower must be searching and find out about that crypto. Its good for cryptocurrency market because more peoples knowing about crypto, more chance they make investment. More peoples investing on cryptocurrency thats mean market cap growing more faster

To be honest, crypto and blockchain technology went mainstream in the year 2017 and every brand is willing to take benefit from this innovation. That's the reason why brands and celebrities have a positive attitude towards the cryptocurrency industry. I don't think that endorsement of celebrities will help crypto but it will help those celebrities to reach more people. I don't see any agenda other than seeking attention through such events.

This will optimized the possibilities that cryptocurrency will get hyped. As we all know that celebrities are influential with their fans so this could lead to a possible market price increase and a high demand in the near future. Well we do thank them later for it because we will be able to benefit on it also.
