i don't know why they don't keep posting sports games so people can gamble their money away on that and make the site more solvent.   It was kind of a red flag when they stopped posting those and I should have withdrawn everything right then.

I mean... People could also continued to gamble with the money they had deposited on Freebitcoin, but it is a matter of common sense, people won't gamble as easily or bet on anything when they know the system is unfairly rigged against them.
What would be the point of gambling money which one has already considered to be completely lost?

Most people would try to withdraw it and take it to a more reputable casino which would not be suffering from liquidity problems... The average gambler/bettor isn't so masochist as you believe.

As soon as sports betting was no longer available, the warning was issued regarding liquidity and trust. Majority of the gamblers are not irresponsible to an extent of throwing their money into a platform that they consider to be already bankrupt or unjust. Once people lose confidence they will no longer bet but withdraw. It is unrealistic of the users to continue gambling under those circumstances. A sane gambler would transfer money to a more open and reputable casino than go to claim losses there at any rate.

It would be the equivalent of having a major casino like Rollbet or Bustabit to have their betting market completely closed, there will be thousands of people who would rather to withdraw all their money instead of switching to casino games, that is pretty obvious to me.
Not all bettors are also gamblers.

Anyways, there are also people who are not "sane gamblers" in any way, shape or form and they would be perfectly fine keepin their money on such casino with low liquidity and continue to gamble on casino games.

Anyways, its good to know that they have no longer display deposit addresses to new and even old users, this is a step in the right direction and shows they still some how have the interest of their community at heart..

Despite they have stopped showing deposit addresses to users and show the closure announcement when we click the deposit button, I don't really think they care about the users.

They should have done this much earlier when they stopped withdrawals. They probably announced the closure when deposits had already dropped significantely.

I'm one of the participants promoting FreeBitco.in before it is shutdown completely.  I couldn't imagine it turning out like this, but things happen unexpectedly. They left without solving their issues and are completely gone.

But on the other hand, it is a gambler's responsibility to know if the casino is/are still active and trusted. We should do research first before making a deposit. Because even FreeBitco.in is still active, but knowing their reputation, I don't think anyone will have the courage to risk money. In this case, it is no longer the fault of the casino but the gambler.

Are you talking technically, or legally (or morally)? Technically only their keys can refund your money. If no one tries to touch them with lawsuits or because they have high morals, your money is gone.

Since they've reached this point of corruption where they won't let users just withdraw money anymore, testing their front end isn't very useful in my opinion.

Seems you will lose all of that money. They say will send the money that members had but I doubt they will do that. They announced shutting down the site.

I guess many people keep money there but I don't know what their stories are in the ends. But if they still keeping money till now, less chances they will get their money.

In the end, everything is our own individual responsibility but I can't blame those who didn't find out the issues on Freebitco in the first few months when the website got in trouble. Today, more than 1 year has passed and now the victims should really blame themselves if they can't get their money because when the website has issues for more than a year and you have no idea about it, that's called being inattentive and careless.

I mean that the site hasn't been useful for a long time. It seems like the information about them gets "reset" every now and then on this forum, and people end up with lost ideas or completely out of the loop. Like someone could "lose" money when it's all gone.

It's all gone or it isn't. Period.

And no, I never implied my testing was something useful. Just checking if or when the site will get down completely.

After I lost over $400 I staked on Bkex exchange for APY interest after their closure without refunding any user, I gave up completely on whatever has to do with keeping my hard earned money on centralised platforms for earning interest sake, no matter how juicy the interest is, if it's not money I am ready to trade off, I am not moving it to any centralised platform, it's better for the money to remain in my self custody wallet and be safe than be on a centralised platform that can close anytime and leave praying they refund users so u could get my money back..

I know about eobot and moon faucets, I had no balance on any of this site, well, maybe I had a very small balance on eobot that was absolutely insignificant to me, so losing it was not a big deal, they refunded users but I didn't no follow the process to get my own because like I said, it was insignificant, let hope that freebitco will do same even though the chances right now is low.

If someone holds your funds and doesn't allow you to access them, and you can't force them to return them to you - that's a pretty good definition of a loss to me.
In accountancy, you would have to impair such balance.

Anyhow, it's a shame that a website with such a long history and good track record ends up like this. I don't think they intentionally pulled a scam on users, and it's probably true that they were somehow abused and lost money by dishonest users. Nevertheless, it's not OK to withhold genuine users' funds for that long, but I would give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they are indeed trying to weed out bad actors so the genuine users can be returned 100%. But it would be nice if they provided some update and expected refund time (unless they have and I missed it).
