Phoenixcoin v0.6.5.2 Released

This v0.6.5.2 is an important update over the previous release. The Coin Control has been implemented which enables user control over unspent outputs (disabled by default; may be activated at "Settings->Options->Display->Enable the Coin Control (for experienced users only)").

Transaction fee schedule has been modified. Most transactions are free if they are less than 2000 bytes in size, have enough coin age and don't get caught by the dust spam filter (any output < 0.01 PXC). A regular transaction (1 input, 1 output) is 192 bytes. The minimal transaction fee is unchanged at 0.1 PXC for those transactions which require a fee.

Another important improvement is a soft fork at block #270000 which enables a better protection against time travel attacks and the block limiter against hostile coin hoppers (no more than 6 blocks per 2 minutes can be accepted). There are also a few important security fixes.

This is the 1st time we offer an official client for MacOS X (both 32-bit and 64-bit versions supported, 10.5+). A 32-bit Linux build (i386) is also available in addition to the 64-bit one (amd64). As usual, 32-bit and 64-bit Windows builds.

Those nodes which don't update to v0.6.5.2 in time will be protected by the ACP. I've updated the master node, the block explorer and my P2Pool nodes already.

There was quite a bit of volume at Cryptsy recently. Nearly 1 million PXC traded on the 19-Mar-2014 alone. That's quite a lot considering 11 million PXC in circulation currently. Now the market is rather quiet. I guess most of the weak hands have dumped their bags and left for greener pastures. My bag didn't mind getting in a few hundred thousand PXC at these prices.

A note on the recently discovered OpenSSL bug.

Phoenixcoin Qt client doesn't support payment requests of the Bitcoin style. I have decided not to add this functionality when implemented the Coin Control. So, no upgrade required.

If you use rpcssl in your daemon's phoenixcoin.conf and expose your rpcport to the outside which is a bad thing actually, you should upgrade OpenSSL to v1.0.1g and re-compile the daemon. No upgrade required otherwise.

This coin is 1 year old since yesterday. There are loads and loads of Scrypt PoW coins, so the people are bored and fed up with them. Things will change for Phoenixcoin some day.

Phoenixcoin v0.6.5.3 Released

There are many important improvements in this release.
Additional address (peer) DB engine with a network filter, -defaultkey option for solo miners, better performance overall.

Dual magic number support without a hard fork (moving away from the Litecoin magic number).
v0.6.5.3 peers communicate using the new magic with each other and use the old magic while talking to the previous versions.

There is also a soft fork at block #340000 to enable the enhanced block limiter reducing efficiency of future time travels.

Upgrade isn't required, though advised generally.

The difficulty will be re-set to 0.016 for block #400K (NeoScrypt switch). It should be low enough for CPU solo mining. If you are interested in performance estimations, start your PXC client with -testnet -dns=1 -addnode=phoenixcoin.org and solo mine some. The testnet runs NeoScrypt already after block #3600. There are also P2Pools in Amsterdam (http://prometheus.phoenixcoin.org:20554) and Los Angeles (http://menoetius.phoenixcoin.org:20554) as well as a testnet block explorer (http://explorer.phoenixcoin.org:3080).

I think the idea is to cut inflation and dilution, not increase it.

Why is it that I'm unable to transfer my Phoenixcoin balance from my wallet to Exchangers? I get "not a valid Phoenix address" error. Can someone explain?
