Winner of this year, ETH or BTC?

Recently, I was thinkig. Is there really any reason for the BTC to be the market leader? The only thing that is giving the value to BTC is pretty much the fact, that it was the first crypto currency. It is the grandfather of all cryptos. But we know it has its flaws... It was never designed for broad usage, it has scaling issues and so on.

On the other hand, we were given ETH. The Crypto Kitties or w/e the awesome internet meme ETH appliction is called showed us, that ETH network has issues with high amounts of usage. BUT, 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard, brought to us by ETH. The smart contracts using the Solidity are extremly good piece of technolgy.

So my question is. Do you think, that BTC will keep its leadership, or will ETH be the winner of this year and surpass its ancestor?

In my opinion, Bitcoin is always the number one, the altcoin and token can not cross the BTC in the near future! It takes more time

of course btc will always be a leader even though all altcoin standart is based on erc20

ETH network conducts more transactions at a higher speed than bitcoin, 99% of the alternative coins are based on the ETH network, judging by the use of of course the ethereum is much better than bitcoin, but now it is too early to talk about the winners, because the launch of new networks means there will be more opportunities and the situation can change at any moment.

Both ethereums and bitcoins will be winners this year in addition to many other altcoins.  I believe this year we will start seeing huge gains starting now.  It's altcoin season and naturally bitcoins will also rise in price.

BTC is still the market leader, BTC is still king in the Crypto market. I think with the market capitalization along with the BTC price so there is not any coin can overcome the BTC. All coin prices depend on BTC. As BTC increases, other altcoin prices increase and vice versa.

BTC still best option because of its limited supply only 21 million . But ethereum not having any details about max supply now showing 98 million circulating supply it may increase in future.
But as you said by USE case ethereum is largely and widely used blockchain technology till a date . Still 90% of tokens are based erc20 more over decentrelised exchanges , Airdrops and also project like crypto kitties adding value .
But we should not ignore NEO it is also taking place of ethereum . Lots of airdrop starting in neo platform . Also NEX decentrelised exchange going to launch soon.

You have pointed out very valid issues and differences, but btc remains the winner because its still the preferred coin of the people, it has paved a path of result-oriented trust, and people have faith it will make up for all the changes that ongoing time requires of anything.

The two are similar. There are not too many outbreaks. There is only a basic synchronous operation. Of course, bitcoin is stronger than ether. After all, Bitcoin has been in existence for a longer time. The ether is growing and the future is better.

Although 90% of the tokens are now based on ERC-20, there is no guarantee that this will continue in the long term future. Ethereum can be highly vulnerable against advanced technologies and new altcoins.

I myself must be Bitcoin who became the number one coin in Cryptocurrency market. because I see the development of Bitcoin is increasing and has the highest price. so Bitcoin in every year must be number one.

My answer is Bitcoin. Bitcoin is the king of cryptocurrency ,not only by the development before all the altcoin. It's due to the increased in investor and usage of bitcoin in various countries. In many countries, bitcoin is used as a one mode of payment. Bitcoin is accepted by KFC and Amazon now.Ethereum is next to bitcoin and it's the queen of cryptocurrency.

Looking at a technical analysis ETH has a long way to go to catch up BTC. I think Bitcoin is media promoted cryptocurrency, that's why it is very high valued! Almost everyone knows (even my grandmother), what is bitcoin, whereas ethereum people don't really know, if you start explaining to them 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard and contracts using solidity and other advantages of Ethereum, that will complicate things for them (people) even more. I think there is a long way for people to understand everything about cryptocurrency and for Ethereum to beat Bitcoin. One thing I know that the cryptocurrency is the future, but which ever one wins, I don't care!

ethereum can not replace bitcoin positions, both have their respective advantages and disadvantages. we better focus to get the benefits of both, that's the real victory.
