It depends a lot on how long you can wait for your investment. But in a year or two I think ethereum will rise on more % than bitcoin because of obvious reasons. And most of them are about ICOs. Erc 20 makes a lot of new coins that can pump the Eth price over time.

Ethereum is a  very good coin, but i think that it is not going to replace bitcoin or whatever you want, because bitcoin has always been in here, but well, sometimes is good to have dreams

Yeah and they are just following the moves of btc. In that case, you can see that it's impossible for an altcoin to win over btc. Eth is a good coin, no doubt but sorry to eth believer, it won't going to happen that eth were going to beat btc and that's a fact. Also whales can do a pump if ever.

I can't agree with you, as it still did not start to show any tremendous growth. Hardly ever investors would be interested in such a huge volatility of etherium by the end of the year.

Difficult to choose a winner in a market that has only been in the red since the beginning of the year, but Bitcoin is sketching some strength, pulling the market up

If your goal is to make money, Bitcoin is the best choice of all cryptos. It's been around the longest, has first mover advantage, is most well known, and drives the movement of the entire crypto market. You can also trade it more effectively than any other crypto, since it has the highest liquidity. You may not retire off of your bitcoin gains compared to choosing the 1 out of 100 cheap alt coins that will moon, but its a tortoise vs the hare type scenario.

Hello everyone!

Recently, I was thinkig. Is there really any reason for the BTC to be the market leader? The only thing that is giving the value to BTC is pretty much the fact, that it was the first crypto currency. It is the grandfather of all cryptos. But we know it has its flaws... It was never designed for broad usage, it has scaling issues and so on.

On the other hand, we were given ETH. The Crypto Kitties or w/e the awesome internet meme ETH appliction is called showed us, that ETH network has issues with high amounts of usage. BUT, 90% of all altcoins are based on the ERC-20 standard, brought to us by ETH. The smart contracts using the Solidity are extremly good piece of technolgy.

So my question is. Do you think, that BTC will keep its leadership, or will ETH be the winner of this year and surpass its ancestor?

Well base on what we have seen in the market, There will be no other coins that can surpass the legacy and achievement of BTC even ETH and BTC will always hold the top spot in the coin ranking.

However, from a general point of view, Bitcoin and Ethereum differ in purpose. While Bitcoin is created as an alternative to regular money and is thus a medium of payment transaction and store of value, Ethereum is developed as a platform which facilitates peer-to-peer contracts and applications via its own currency vehicle. While Bitcoin and Ether are both digital currencies, the primary purpose of Ether is not to establish itself as a payment alternative (unlike Bitcoin) but to facilitate and monetize the working of Ethereum to enable developers to build and run distributed applications. BTC is still the market leader because more prople trust in it.

Both currencies are generating a multitude of headlines throughout last year. But in spite of that, both Bitcoin and Ethereum have aspects in common, although many more that differentiates them. But at then end all depend on how much people trust in them.

Bitcoin will dependably be an extraordinary among all the digital money whether it be ETH or NEO or Litecoin. As a result of it's one of a kind highlights Bitcoin exchanges occurred in billions regular. On the off chance that, Bitcoin tumble then all other coin likewise go down due to a market record like conduct of Bitcoin.

I can't help suspecting this is a wrong inquiry. This year we can all either win or lose. On the off chance that the market goes up strongly then we will all vibe great. On the off chance that the value drop proceeds with then everybody and bitcoin and Ethereum will lose. I trust that toward the finish of the year we will all be sure.

I think ETH can not reach BTC market cap yet at least in this year, especially the upcoming event is ETF Bitcoin, Fund will have to gather more BTC to meet the demand of investor ( if ETF request get approval )  Cheesy

BTC will continue to lead in the electronic money market. As compared with ETH, ETH selling price with BTC is still too different. Even if ETH wants to cross the BTC, it may not be in a short time, it still takes a while.

After hard fork Constantinople, many technical problems of the Ethereum network will be solved and the price for ETH will increase. Therefore, I think that by the end of the year the cost of ETH in relation to BTC will increase several times.

Agree that Ethereum is updating many things, but Bitcoin also update several function to solve current issue with lighting network and smart contract for example. By the way, Bitcoin is in top 1 never due to its technology, it's due to community. So technical factor will not help ETH win BTC

Can you tell me how Bitcoin is extraordinary ? I think it has nothing, low speed, high tranfer fee, only security is pretty good. I don't understand why Bitcoin is top 1 , If anyone know the reason please explain to me, many tks  Grin Grin Grin

I think that bitcoint remains the winner, until now no one has outperformed the popularity of bitcoint, this coint still has the highest selling price among the others, as the king of cryptocurrency coint is definitely strong

Ethereum is a more advanced technology based on the original Bitcoin. The ETH network makes more transactions at a higher speed than Bitcoin. 99% of the replacement coins are based on the ETH network, but I want to surpass Bitcoin this year, which I think is still impossible.

of course bitcoin will be a digital currency that always counts for centuries. in my opinion, bitcoin is a coin that has the highest price from year to year. that means there are no other altcoins that can match prices with bitcoin. in my opinion, bitcoin will keep its price up anytime
