According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Earlier today, the Ask Price column entries changed from "U" to "In." Now it's back to "U."
What was that all about?

Well, it is more reassuring than zero bids and a mountain of sell orders. It does kind of make the whole thing an irrelevance but at least it exists.

That change from "U" to "In" is the first thing that makes me think that at least 1 seller is actually capable of putting up Asks now.

How comes puma llc is on bid and ask side?
Is puma llc an old costumer of SM with shares older then 1 year?
Or is there another way to get sm shares which is not visible to the public?

This is quite interesting. No, actually it is really really interesting. Although I'm quite sure that the first trades are more nominal ones from people who want to be the first ones to trade this kind of asset, I can't see a way in which this is bearish. Do you?

I'm not so sure it'll have much or any effect on the rest of the market. It's a pretty cranky and arcane setup. It is however a very symbolic leap into another era.

They are from accredited investors who bought into the the Bitcoin Investment Trust. The shares were frozen for 12 months as a condition for creating them as a tradeable entity on the OTC market.

I'll guess a fair few bought in higher hence the lack of rush to sell.

Interesting thing is that people seem to be able to sell the shares even though they're suspected to have held their shares for less than 12 months, actually... How is this possible and are those claims actually valid? How do we know those entities have bought their shares at a later date?!

Seems like this will have little effect on exchange prices since no new bitcoins are being bought.
