The NEX community demand that Nxt developers release the source code that they have previously promised!

https://github.com/slothbag/nxt-decompiled/blob/master/Nxt.java

Decompiled code is not the same as source code.

Still you continue to mislead the community!

The NEX community demands the release of the source code! So that we can copy it pretty please im a dumb fck

Without the source code.... how can we believe that Nxt does not have a trojan or virus in their compiled code?

No source code... no trust.... fundamental crypto principle!

Btw can someone please make AmishCoin. At least we'll know that it's certainly a last gen coin.

Have anyone started the PonziCoin yet or can I trademark it?

Go for it!

Got it: PonziCoinTM

Which pgp keys do sign the message? (Or in other words: How do i check the signature?)

Thx

Strange - I cannot find FF2A19FA anywhere - can someone please post his public key so I can at least check that it was the one used to sign the download.

I had a little issue with my transactions.nxt. Had to use one from another client, but is running now.

BTW: rescanning the whole thing from November takes about 2 hours on my raspi - how come??

Jean-Luc: Problem resolved, Thanks!

Sorry if I confused everyone.   Embarrassed

Maybe only me - could you do a "gpg --armor --export jean-luc" (assuming the GPG key is tied to that name) and post the public key so I can add it?

If you were asking me... I have no idea... but this is what people were getting that followed the verification method I posted...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345619.msg4372858#msg4372858

So you don't actually have his public key then?

Does anyone else (it is not on the MIT key server or a few others I tried)?

Anyone here with math background who can help with Reed-Solomon codes problem?

It's needed for the New Address Format: https://forums.nxtcrypto.org/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=524

Original ricot's idea was to use RS codes to auto-correct typos to get superficial, but cool advantage over bitcoin addresses.

But it seems there is a problem. We know that with parity = 4 the algorithm can reliably detect up to 4 errors or correct up to 2.

What isn't mentioned is that those choices seem to be exclusive. You can either detect 4 errors for sure and get general 1/million collision probability (we use 20-bit redundancy) OR you can try to correct errors.

In almost quantum-physics-style weirdness, if you try to correct errors, you cannot use the previous check anymore!

And error correction fails miserably if there are more than 2 errors: it cannot detect that there are more. So it corrects into an incorrect address and there seems to be no way to verify this.

To put it in layman’s terms: you make more than 2 typos and you will almost certainly lose your money. This is unacceptable.

So can anyone either confirm this behavior or tell me what I am missing?

Sorry about the slow reply, haven't checked the thread this weekend. The nxtcrypto forum is down for me, and I haven't caught up with this thread yet, so I'm sorry again if it's already been answered.

It's not either-or, you can get both error-detection and error-correction. Yes, error-correction is based on the assumption that there are 2 or fewer errors, because there is always exactly one valid code within Hamming distance 2 (i.e. differing by 2 or fewer characters). But we don't know how many errors the user makes in input, so we shouldn't do like Microsoft Clippy and autocorrect, we should reject the input (since we know it's wrong) and possibly suggest the nearest valid code (which is what we think, but not guaranteed to be what the user intended.)

(The above is general coding theory, so applies to other codes like linear codes as well, not just Reed-Solomon)

Personally, I would implement it as a library with the following variable types (or classes) and functions:

a) baseAddress, which holds 65 bits corresponding to the 64 bits of a Nxt address, plus a pad bit (to reach 13 x 5 bit characters)
b) RSAddress, which holds a 17 char string corresponding to a possible RS-encoded address (this excludes prefixes)

1) toRSAddress(baseAddress) that returns a RSAddress, and
2) toBaseAddress(RSAddress) that either:
   i) returns the baseAddress corresponding to the one and only valid Reed-Solomon address within Hamming distance 2 of RSAddress, if the pad bit indicates this is a valid baseAddress or
ii) throws an exception, if the pad bit indicates this is invalid.

(If the language I'm implementing it in doesn't support exceptions, I'd add another boolean function isValidAddress(RSAddress) )

Here's one way library users (e.g. client developers) can use it:
if ( toRSAddress(toBaseAddress(input)) == input ) {
... }  //input is (almost certainly) the intended address
else {
... }  //input is wrong. Up to the client dev whether they want to suggest the nearest valid neighbour, or ask the end-user to retype, or whatever.

EDIT: Personally, I'd keep this library simple and leave it to client devs how they want to handle prefixes, or other embellishments to the Reed-Solomon encoded addresses. But if the community can come to a consensus on a default way to present NXT addresses, might be a good idea for the library to handle this as well.

Hope this helps. I'm a hobbyist coder, I don't work with other professional coders so I'm not sure how coders communicate with each other about stuff like this. Let me know if there's anything you want me to expand on.

eMunie announced their IPO plan. two week open beta starting Feb 1, two week open beta2 Feb 15, two week IPO March 1, IPO closed March 15th

Everyone can purchase up to $10000 worth at ten cents each (or BTC or LTC equivalent)
More can be purchased by beta testers or if you email their investor address

eMunie feature set could have more than NXT feature set for approx 1 month period. eMunie takes a totally different approach by actively managing the price per EMU so that it will be within +/-5% of ten cents for an entire year. It won't matter what sort of demand and supply imbalance the crazy crypto market will have because there is a magic algorithm that solves what no fiat government has ever been able to do. Trust in Dan is the eMunie mantra

I believe emunie has a lot of good features and ideas and tech, but the entire premise could well be impossible to actually get working properly. Maybe they used supercomputers and modeled large scale simulations and all will be well.

How is an emunie investor going to make money? Here is the part that is unique, if more money comes in and the price stays the same, money is made by hatching. EMU is automatically created and distributed 50% to EMU holders and 50% to hatchers. So, an investors holdings gets diluted the more money comes in, but they participate in half of the increased money supply. I could not find info on hatching and how one controls it, but it seems like this is where the EMU creators will cash in bigtime. Using other people's money to start with and bringing in more other people's money and splitting it 50/50.

Create a super complicated system and there will be plenty of ways the creator of such a complicated system can make money. Disclose everything at the last minute (my guess around March 13th for whitepaper) and then nobody can complain that they didn't realize half of all new money coming in goes into EMU founder's pockets. Never mind that the presale is going on for weeks and weeks without full disclosure, those people didn't have to invest.

Have to applaud emunie in their marketing. It does seem to be quite effective and I would be extremely surprised if emunie was NOT in the top 10 on coinmarketcap as soon as IPO is done.

The big competitors for NXT will be emunie and DOGE. Do not laugh at DOGE, it is trading ten times as much as NXT in dollar volumes. Almost as much at LTC and a significant fraction of BTC trading. For those that think that marketing has no value and NXT does not need it, just take a look at DOGE's stats. Half the marketcap of NXT, ten times the trading volume. DOGE even has a bit of utility as it is used for tipping on the internet. Minimal functionality, maximum marketing.

Just imagine if NXT got maximum marketing. Please fund salascz's marketing plan. NXT is not alone in the second gen market, there is emunie, etherium on the content side and DOGE on the meme side.

Please fund salascz's marketing plan.

Hi', NXT

Transaction is confirmed in the blockchain, However, they do'nt appear in my balance on the nxt interface.

Number of confirmations does'nt update & cmd keeps telling me I've generated an incorrect block

I know that I'm missing something simple but ca'nt think what it is.

Any ideas?

I think I screwed up on trying to search for the key id rather than the fingerprint - (am more used to just copying and pasting public keys than finding them from key servers).
